Greetings PESheads
For the last 2 weeks I've had the great fortune of being able to test play Rats Classic National teams option file and I've got to say you guys are in for a treat.
First of all I'm a nostalgic person, I like modern day football up to apoint but absolutely love looking back at times gone by. As a kid the 1st world cup I remember was Italia 90 , I collected the sticker books, played with the mini coca cola football's and basically bought anything which had the mascot "Ciao" on it. The quality of football may not have been the greatest but there were certain moments that have stayed with me all my life, from Roger Millas goal celebration, David Platt scoring a stunner against the Belgians, Rene Higuita trying his luck dribbling out of goal which in the end did have its consequences and of course Gazza crying just to name a few.
I've been a massive PEShead for years now and always wished to recreate them moments ingame obviously not the Gazza crying one, but I've never had the patience or skill to edit teams and during the ps3 years I sort of fell out of love with the game, I played them but I wasn't (as one of my fellow PESheads commented "balls deep") into them like this year.
Why then am I "balls deep" this year?
1 Konami have done an excellent job with the game making it one of the greatest ever released.
2. THE LEGENDS/CLASSICS option files created by the community. Clubs and National teams, The posibilities are endless. LOVE IT!!!!
So when Rat asked me to try out a few of his national teams he was working on I was "Over the moon" plus it give me a break from editing.
Player builds= As most of you will already know Rat is one one of the most known and respected editors in the community, his face builds are second to none and here he doesn't dissapoint. 20 national teams each with 23 players all edited to perfection, now anyone who has tried doing builds know how demoralising it can be after spending 3 hours trying to get that face just right only to for it to end in failure. The attention to detail on each player is outstanding.
Kits= Each team come with it own Retro/classic kit 2048 all made by the man himself. Back to basics kits of the past look truly amazing ingame, the Scotland shirt is a personal favourite of mine with the Peruvian one a close 2nd. Their simplicity gives that authentic classic feel which I personally love.
All this makes what is gonna be the greatest Classic National Teams file to date, so let's support Rat that way he'll keeps churning these squads out for us all to enjoy.
Over the next few days I will be posting a brief (not like the essay I've just written above) to the point review about each team, style of play, top players,Strengths, weaknesses etc so keep an eye out for them.
I first got sent England so I'll start with them.
ENGLAND- 4-2-1-3
Now 1st of all picking a 23 man squad is always gonna raise some eyebrows, why no Scholes? Hoddle? Geoff Thomas?etc, but it's impossible to please everyone so no moaning.
After playing hour and hours with them, even winning the konami Cup I have noted a few players of interest.
Star player.=Sir Bobby Charlton (long range volleys are his specialty) although I did start to abuse them after a bit instead of passing.
https://youtu.be/fwYnApVVD8E Check out this beauty.
Flair Player= Gazza (capable of anything) usually comes on for Charlton late 2nd half
Suprise Player= Wilf Mannion (the ex Boro boy maybe not known to so many but you'll fall in love with him after a couple of games) for those who have never heard of him look him up on Wikipedia he's a legend.
Impact player = Sir Stanley Matthews (bring him on for the last 15 minutes he terrorises the opposition.)
National treasure= Sir Bobby Moore (nuff said)
Strengths= Great midfield/strikeforce/pacey wingers . When they link together they can cause anyone problems.
Weaknesses= Ocassional lapses of concentration in defence, struggled against the likes of Holland who shift the ball round quickly.
Enjoyed playing with them, playing against them they will always give you a chance.
"COME ON ENGLAND"
Donatoson Rating 8.5/10
NEXT UP HOLLAND. .....
