Game store/PS3 rip off

After failing to get PES6 to register for online play, I decided to re-invest in PES 2008 for my beloved PS3. Off I popped to my local Game store, only to find that a new copy of PES2008 on PS3 would set me back £44.95 :shocking:

Not too perturbed, I shuffled to the preowned section... Imagine my horror when I saw a pre-owned copy at the princely sum of £39.95 :shocking:x2!

What really takes the piss is then seeing it in Tesco's of all bloody places, brand spanking new for £37.71 - cheaper than a second hand copy in Game.

The final icing on the cake is that you can get the Xbox360 version, all shiny & new, from Asda for just a few pennies under £20...

My faith in Sony wanes further, yet more so in robbing bastard 'Game'.

This isn't just a one-game deal, or one vendor issue. For a title that was released last October/November, the fact it is still being sold at full price is an issue.

The pre-owned PS3 market is full of over inflated prices, certainly when compared to the Xbox. Titles released at the same time on both platforms, sold initially at the same price, are now commanding completely different sums of hard earned cash.

You have to pay £55? Depending where you live it does have an impact. My sympathy if that is the case, but still moan I shall.

For new, of course. Pre-owned though can be a lottery. Problem in NW is that since Game took over Gamestation there is bugger all competition in the pre-owned market. My local Gamestations used to be considerably cheaper than Game, but alas no more.

I think the real shocks were Tescos being cheaper new than Game pre-owned & the ridiculous difference in price between PS3 & 360 versions.

it's worth keeping an eye on shops like tesco for games, as they occasionally balls up the prices anyway and accidentally sell games way cheaper, like assassins creed was 24.95 when it was released at ours in York. My brother was after it and when he went back the next week they must have realized and put it up to the rrp.

They've done that with a few other titles at different times too.

Game are a complete rip-off!! I went into the store and asked how much they would give me for Ratchett and Clank, Ninja Gaiden and Turok, all for the PS3 and they said £17!! I don't understand why people would even sell games at such a low price
