I e-mailed Konami and I'm not happy with their responce! i think in their case ignorance is bliss!

I am deeply dissappointed with the game, I have a HD TV and have tried all the FAQ soloutions you have provided but my game is still near unplayable on my PS3. I only have internet access through my laptop and I am unable to download the patch for my PS3, Is there a solution to this?

The reply was

Dear customer, Thank you very much for contacting the Konami customer support team. In order to download the patch, you should simply turn on your PS3,connect to the Internet and launch PES 2008. The patch will then download automatically. It will take approximately 4 to 5minutes. Please do not hesitate to contact us again should the problem persist despite following these recommendations.

Your Konami Support Team

Suffice to say I've emailed the back and I'm awaiting their response. Did they even read my email???

I will be getting a PS3 soon and was wondering if there's any point for me to buy PES 2008 on it? I already have it for PS2 by the way.

Well, regardless of what you may have read here, PES 2008 is still a great game, so long as you have the patch. Without it, it's definately a very problem-prone game.

But so long as you have access to the internet (on your PS3) then the patch will "fix" the game and you need not look back ever again.

Definately an improvement on the PS2 version of the game, which is basically a slightly newer version of PES6.

Very true. Graphics are shocking.

Graphics are OK if you know a thing or two about the way 3d cards work and how they do certain things and the number of entities on the pitch.

I for one have and will always like pes gameplay over fif.

I mean, how many of your were like me and actually begun with ISS Pro. The game has come a long way and I am not one to complain. I am used to the frame rates etc and the patch has fixed a few things i didnt like, like the penalty slow-mo.

I dont care tho.. Konami, I dont caer how much you need to dumb the textures down... Make it faster on PS3. Because Konami have no real knowledge of the way the ps3 really works yet (I mean only their PES Division) in the way textures are processed thru the memory and how it should be utilised thru the Cell BE processor.

I reckon they might hit the nail on the head with the next patch.

Also. fix mancini in roma, he doesnt have a god damn ponytail, he did have long hair but fark me that is rediculous some of the players appearance is so incorrect. (but the players that matter, i can say that konami have done an excelent job on some of the faces, much better than fifa where the players dont look anything like their real life counterparts).

To rub it in, dddduuuuhhhhhhhhhh!!

Anyways I was going to edit my post before you rudely replied.

My online isn't working for the ps3 version, I think it's because of the update.

well ive played pro since the old iss days on the playstation n yeah it has evolved massivly but its nothing to do with going that far back is it? i expected a little bit more from this new pro than i got. i played it last night on a hd telly last night and jesus it was awful. the graphics went terrible when i was playing at full tilt with my team and only returned to its "normal" smooth self when everything stopped. i wasnt expecting the gameplay to become 100% lifelike either lol by that i mean if you sneeze on an opposition its a yellow card!!!! the tackle system has in my eyes been badly overworked its horrible trying to get the ball off the opposition now and its really dissapointed me. i think the passing and movment of the game is pretty good although im still training my temper to deal with pressing pass to see the ball roll a couple of yards to an opposition instead of finding another team member. i agree with whoever wrote it when they mentioned the way the players condition is designed. its crap having to change players about every game and there stamina ratings are shocking *although babayaros is bang on haha* i was looking forward to editing the team strips etc like i usually do but thats been shot to pieces too. do i have to fork out for an eye toy to edit the strips????? before i finish my blabber of negativity i would like to apologise to anyone that has played against me online. if you have had obscene comments from me it has not been me writing them. my brother has been using my ps3 now and again and i noticed him writing some nasty things. he wont be using it again however and if anyone wants to play me feel free to and say hello!

So you enjoy shit keepers & running through a whole team with one player?

Wait, are we talking about Fifa or PES2008? The keepers in PES 2008 are a lot smarter than before. Of course, some are a lot smarter than others. Coupet and Victor Valdez are leaps and bounds smarter than any of the rubbish keepers in BPL.

As for dribbling down the entire pitch and scoring - give me a week or two and I will be doing it in any footy game. If your friends can't defend it, tell them to change the way they play. Tell them to take the player they're using back conservatively, while holding square to send up a CPU defender. Or don't. Let them figure out how to play defense.

I think the gameplay on PS3 (especially after the patch) is great.
I'm having only 2 problems.

1.
when you're playing an offline league (with 2 or 3 human teams, rest CPU) you can't play with the CPU teams anymore, I consider this a major problem because now you have sit there and watch your friend play against the CPU if you want to do an offline league.

2.
In League Mode strip selection before the game should be back (it is possible in Exibition), my brother who plays with Juventus encounters many problems because of this (he's never been able to play in Juve's 2nd strip).

For the rest great game. And I hope the next patch (if any) will fix these 2 problems.

WHY;

1- You changed camera views, and took out the angles (1-9) ?? ( which is one of the most item enhances the realism)

2- You changed the edit mode completelye instead of making additions?

3- Frame rate on Ps3 is so poor ?

4- The spectators look like the characters in PACMAN - Atari?

I agree wiv all of that

I'm impressed with the new PES; I felt the series had gone a little off the boil with 5 and 6, the tempo was much too slow, and the ridiculous slowness on short passes was too frustrating to even speak about. PES 2008 is much slicker and a slight return to the days of PES 3 and 4 when the game was played at breakneck speed.

Only concern is the ease by which the CPU teams can be negotiated

That's a new sound, what bothers me most is that they don't use what they can.
They gave the menu a lick of paint and that's it, but there's a lot more to improve.

well i've been playing pes since the days on the snez and followed the series all the way, and i really believe that the new pes is a step up from the others its just the fact that it hasnt done a massive leap like we all expect from them, but we all have to take in mind that this is the first pro evo on the ps3, they have deadlines to make and they had to start from scratch, so now they have a block in place to keep workin on it for the next one, im enjoying playing pes 2008

my problems with the games is how stricked the offside trap is never givin it a slight advantage some times they shud but it so the lines men have different settings and the fact if one is offside but dont pass it to them they still blow for offside and dont allow to play on.

also ive had a few times where the oppisition have gained a dangerous free kick with out me even touching them and scored and im sat there baffled to why they got a freekick, also i few times where i've slide tackled connected with the ball and yet i got a yellow card and the commentary sayin he was no where near the ball even tho i was.

and i really hate in the master league that i pretty much have to change nearly every player every single game, whats that about, i believe every single footballer can play every single match in the season its 90mins of running around they rest the next day, i play football 3 times a week for the last god knows how many years and ive never had to stop for a rest, and i train and work!!! i just dont understand it maybe seabass wanted everytime to be like liverpool so all us pickin our team needed a rafa approach hahahaha

all in all its a good game the slow downs r minimal which will be sorted in the next game i believe, replies yes they r dam rite unwatchable, and the menu's and music it is just like we've gone rite bak to the days of the commadore menu set up, i was gonna say snes but even on tht u got a better menu system, and lets not go into the music side hahaha.

o almost forgetting the editing, i think its not a case of charging people i think they ran out of time and took all there time understandin how to make it for the ps3 that they didnt have time to start makin a editing system,

thats my moanin done, it is the first pro on ps3 and it isnt half bad will see next year and the more u play the more it does grow on u. i dont understand some people sayin its so unplayable because its so not.

The refereeing is shocking. You can win the ball cleanly and get sent off. And at times I can clear the ball then it switches as if I haven't and the player is away. The online system seems to be glitchy.
