Thru balls WTF?

The through balls have been worked quite well by Konami this year. In previous PES's, there was an easy emphasis on through balls, to an unrealistic point. However in 2010, the defenders now read the through balls very well and often cut a lot of them out, especially the full backs I've noticed. It just means you've got to really pick your moments with the through balls - quite like real life.

The defenders dont cut them out so much as the trajectory of the thru-ball will always be pulled towards the defenders, as though your player aims towards the defenders, not the attacking team mate....lame arsed pish. No other word for it. If Konami can't balance the AI by making it smarter, they should have just left thru-balls out of the game this year.

The biggest problem is this year they have a mind of their own.

You try a delicate one he launches it out of the stadium or to the keeper, you try a longer one it doesnt reach the nearest man.

On the deck through balls seem to cut in sometimes when it is pretty obvious they should have cut out, and vice versa. Giving the defender more of a chance. You can't seem to pick which way it goes, when you could either do that on older peses or it always picked the right way and I just thought I was doing it.

But still, Its less of a problem for me now from starting this thread because I'm starting to learn when they are more likely to work and when they aren't.

Any player irl should be able to play a simple ball down the line for the winger to run onto or they shouldnt be playing pro.

And yet so many of them manage to get over hit and go out for goalkick or throw in :unsure:. It's good that you're getting used to the timing of thru balls. No need to get discouraged by noob shits like matthecat who probably spams :triangle: at every opportunity he gets then chucks his controller away because he didn't get an inch perfect pass every fuckin time.

MatTheCat is finally learning to shut of the part of his brain that understands what football is and how a through-ball should work, and is learning to use the button only in Konami approved specific situations, i.e. where it actually works regardless of real world physics and probabilites. When you learn how to exploit this you can play a through ball and watch 3-4 defenders highland dance around and over the ball before it turgidly trundles its way through to your forward, who will then pause to ponder the meaning of life, allowing the defenders to catch up with him, before running forward and managing to get a half baked shot in from his wrong foot.

Too many things about this game which are just plain cheap old fucking shite.

Too bad that scoring goals on FIFA is such an anti-climatic non-event, otherwise what football game I would be playing would be a no-brainer.

through balls are not perfect but they arent a total waste either..some come off and some dont. hardly rocket science..one thing i have noticed is that playing an over the top through ball with xabi alonso , though it doesnt always reach my player, appears to be weighted well.

the only thing i would like on the through passes are the strength cause alot of times it gets stopped juuuuuust at the last second.....

i dont think i personally have much of an issue with the through balls in this one....it can be better but i guess listening to people moan about it i suddenly think "maybe its cause its just a game"

Yeah, that is the problem with football games. They aint real football but we like to imagine that they are. For a while, when you are naive to how the AI works, it feels great and you buy into the illusions that YOU are playing the game. When you become more familiar with the game though (in my case almost 9 years of familiarity) and you start to realise that it is not a real sport, but a nasty mechanical computer program that can and does play you like a fiddle whenever the randomly (or not so randomly) generated numbers being fed into it tell it to, the end result is a lot of annoyance and rage.

That what you said about the thru-balls Juuuuuuuuuust being to short/late, sums things up perfectly. The gamer is meant to think 'ooooooohhhh', and if you are naive maybe you will. but to those who know better it is just mechanical outdated ugliness.

Of course thru balls are not perfect I mean it's just a game which dapluto pointed out well. You wanna see realistic thru balls how about you turn on the tele? I'm just simply stating that they do clearly work (very often for me) when some are saying they don't. I mean the amount of passes into space I've made that looks remarkably similar to highlight reels speak for themselves. Of course they also come with a ton that just make you say wtf but I like that randomness cuz honestly how boring would it be if every pass was perfect?

you should try fifa if you want realism in all aspects. Through balls has a power meter so you control how far they go not the computer. Make the switch to fifa, you wont regret it! Much more of a simulation

Not that I believe there is much wrong with PES this year to be honest, but when did everyone become so ridiculously demanding and fussy over video gaming? Get a grip people, you don't like it, don't play it, it's a game.

But in my opinion this happens to be one of the best PES titles of the last 5 years, and I'm genuinely thrilled with it. I haven't even touched online yet, Master League or any other aspects other than the normal Cup and League mode.

I would be convinced that you are getting paid by Konami....except for the fact that you can't spell.

The comments you make don't relate to the reality in the slightest little bit.

For the record, I prefer ProEvo to FIFA. For all its faults, ProEvo delivers the thrills, FIFA doesn't. But there is absolutely no fucking way in the world could I possibly put FIFA and PRO together and point to FIFA and say 'YES, THAT IS THE ONE WITH ALL THE BUGS!' When I play FIFA, everything functions as it should. For example, the ball is passed when I tell it to pass and it goes in the direction that I want to pass it in. Although the keepers in FIFA are weak, at least they work. In PES the keeper AI is totally shot broken. The list goes on and on.

^^ lol you tool, i had fifa 10 and it was fcked beyond believe, i had all the game breaking bugs in MM which include -2billion debt which i lept getting around season 2/3 then eventually game freezes in which it wont load up a saved file or it wont change to the next match, smaller annoying bugs like the assistant coach which kept changing my entire team around even when it was turned off, opposition teams which played ther players out ov defence like for chelsea john terry at left back and ashley cole as a CB, loan players being sold, form was more usless than PES's arrows, weather ment to reflect the seasons ye it rains in la liga 90% of the time -_-

online clubs, all comp players in defence were 5ft tall including the GK against 90 rated 6.7ft VP's

online in generally d/c half the time even tho i can connect to every other online game i currently have

Now gameplay the GK are shite and everytime they charged out like a zulu warrior and got chipped every freaking time and double tap triangle never worked, defenders which decided to run the other way when you switched to them, defenders stopping when running into the box to allow a ST a free shot, defenders stop marking the strikers when i wanted them to mark, wing backs not running past the halfway line to support my midfield or beyond to whip in crosses, basic overall dumb team AI, no team or player individuallity, AI difficultys are just increased physical stats for the comp where SWP can push drogba off the ball, all teams below the top league had the same playing style so every game played the same which = boring etc etc etc i could go on but its a PES forum and what i put is bad enough

PES this year is a legend, all the modes work *touch wood* no problems so far, AI doing what i want it to do, online works and i can connect everytime

Dont tell me about fifa since i owned the freaking game and suffered at the absolute shite programming from EA its a half arsed version and they spent a year putting 360 dribble and VP and then fcking up every other mode which worked fine

Initially I really liked 2010 but the more I play the more things I realise are off.

I think matthecat is right, the more I play this game the more I think they try to make things the way they are to keep the score lines realistic, so instead of making the game more clever they make it so things that should work dont.

The reason I complain is because I have loved pes for a decade and dont want it to turn to shit or even worse fifa.

Pes for me and my mates is a religion we worship. Its not just a game.
