I'm playing the demo from it is released.. I probably made a 400-500 matches already... here are my + and - comments.. By the way Pes2008 demo was the worst soccer game that I played but the full game was good enoough for me to play a whole year... so no need to get anxious... here is my list

+ graphics / cutscenes / stadiums / pitch / replays
+ animations / raising hand / heading animations
+ freekicks: it is possible to make a cross from all angles
+ dribbling: difficult but good dribblers are so valuable ... Hyppia and Ronaldo dribbling is completely distinct.. Hypia cant make any 360 feint or so anymore..
+ shooting: I like new system..
+ long passes: I always play with manual passing.. now it is great to send long passes as lobbing makes forward to stay on 1-1 with keeper..
+ defence: no more ghost players to skip pass all players on field.. With Rio you can stop everyone now..
+ Saving the ball: Now you can put your back to defender and stop ball.. waiting your players to get possessions.. just like HOLD UP BALL in Fm series..
+ AI : no more very emtpy side attacks.. RB and LB is closing down the wingers..
+ new camera system: Vertical Wide camera is difficult to command but a great one

- Assisted-Semi Assisted - Manual cursor: ok all of them can be used.. but there has to be more options as old series.. on defence I can't command as I want with assisted settings.. And for manual.. you co-op AI makes some silly mistakes.. thy are not playing as opponent AI
- COrners not great still
- running Animations suck.. it has to be improved in final build..
- keepers block shots but they cant hold many..
- kits are not great... they look like fifa style ( check out Italy s away kit)
- dragging ball back is out .. I dont know why.. I used it alot on PEs2008..
- too many back heel passes even they can use their other foot to pass

good observations .. ya i also idnt think the players running was nice .. byt other than that PES 09 demo is breathtaking

I cant see how they can improve it in the final build. They have what?, 2 weeks? Its too late for us to say this is crap, i dont like that and hope they can change it because they've probably got the games sitting in a factory. If they thought about a month ago that this demo was brilliant and that we'd love it to death then im worried becasue if thats the case then they wont change hardly anything. If we had it earlier maybe they could of made some changes.

Breathtaking? How is the demo breathtaking?

The ball is flat, the graphics are terrible, the players gitter when changing direction, the AI can't close down... I've said this all so many times now.

the ball , u can see the flood light reflections on that .. and it got accurate shadows when fifa is nothing but a spere taht doesnt interact with light

graphics : this is waht i call True next gen graphics being working in 3d visualization industry for 20 yars . unlike fifa where the grasses are fake , no DOF ( it not DOF in fifa its bluring ) no antialising only the players face look ok. how can u compare a next gen game with current gen . .haha so funny ..

players : most realistic up to dates on any platform.

AI : truley next gen

fifa 09 : nill
Pes 09 : breathtaking !


@ some guy , forgot your yellow card ?dont talk like kid fifa fan boy , even grown up fanboys accepted that PEs is best and they have converted to PES. you also join PES 09 as soon as possible :D

sounds like a volleyball being kicked not a football..

Wow... I've come across you 5 or so times now, and I've told you my history with PES and why I'm complaining, yet... You still don't remember it, what an awful shame... I wouldn't suggest you get behind the wheel of a car anytime soon.

Onto the game however, how can you call those graphics next generation! Everything apart from the textures and the player faces are poor, and the textures are worse than FIFA's anyhow!

The AI is shocking as well, the defense don't know how to close down, the attack can't find space and all you really need to do to score is turn a couple of times with one player or send a man down a flank where you can get through as the poor AI means that the fullbacks can't stop you from doing so and the centerhalves don't come across to cover. Hence easy space on the flanks, easy balls in, easy headed chances and easy goals there.

To even consider that PES 2009 has a leg to stand on in the graphics department is laughable...

I was getting frustrated with the shitty gameplay but i changed to a wide 4-4-2 and the game opend up and i actually want to play the demo now.

When your playing 10min matches in ML etc and online 2v2 this game will kick fucking ass. Its hard to give a shit about the matches in the demo but you have to actually take into acount that your not gonna get emotionaly involved with the crappy exibition teams they give you are you. Wait till your signing players in the ML and finding the perfect formation and then you'll see how this game will be fun.

I've played 5 now...

...hoping, praying that I would find something good about it. Still no however.

400-500 games would equate to around 4800-6000 minutes of playing time (with an average of 12 minutes per game, which might even be a tad too short). That's 80-100 hours of playing at least which is more time than the demo's been out for!

The games probably being pressed now if, not pressed and packages ready to be shipped out. No ones really confirmed how old or new this build is but id expect pretty much WYSIWYG just like last year. Last year there wasnt much difference between the demo and the final release.

Agreed - the ball sounds sound shite. I also hate the sound of the whistle also which we had last year and also is being used this year, particularly now that more tackles are being called a foul. Bring back the authentic whistle sounds from PES 5 and 6, that sound like the ones used in real games. Can Fish Cake do anything right!?!?!

Som1 agrees that the whistle is shite. Its so annoying! It sounds like its broken. I mean what fuking game on this planet we call Earth did they watch a football match that used a whistle that sounded like that!!!!! No whistle sounds anything like that. They couldnt even get a proper whistle or goal nets.

yeah the whistle and ball sound awful, but i suppose i can look past it, even though it shouldnt be difficult to make it sound realistic. YAWN

I can't comment on the gameplay as I haven't played it, nor do I want to. I'd rather wait 'til I get my hands on the official release for my PS3...but saying that, from what I've seen here, almost everyone berates PES 2008 at every given oppertunity whereas I absolutley loved it. Maybe my expectations aren't as high as others or I'm just easily pleased, but I couldn't care less, I think I'll really enjoy PES 2009 from what I've read.

For me, the downsides and cons that people keep highlighting are usually comparisons as to how "poor" PES 2008 was...so I don't think I'll have the slightest thing to complain about.

PES 2008 with some improvements? OH YES!
