What are these colors of pitch for players?

I know I am late to ask this question.. But it's better to ask now then to remain in confusion. For every players stats there is a small field / pitch image on the right upper corner with mainly 3 colors.. Red maroon and green colors.. What are these colors for? I thought red is the part of field where the player is most active or dangerous than green. But what is color maroon for? Should I keep a player on that part of field where it's red or green or maroon color so that my player probably may perform his best?

It's where the player is strongest. The colours relate to the area of the pitch (red = attack, green = midfield, blue = defence). The "stronger" the colour, the stronger the player is in that position.

If you view a player in edit mode, in his playing positions page (or whatever it's called), you 'll see a rating - A, B or C. The pitch image is just that in picture form.

The brighter the colour, the more capable the player is in that position.

Example: Iniesta can play well as a CMF, AMF, RMF, LMF and LWF. He can be used, but with less quality, as a SS or RWF.

Oh that means Messi is less capable inside the box (around goal post) as it is colored maroon for him....

Less capable when played in the CF position, each area in the pitch diagram, refers to a position. So:

GK

CB
RB
LB
DM
CM
RM
LM
AM
RW
LW
SS
ST

Doesn't mean he's less capable in the box, per se, but if you register him as a ST in your formation, his overall will drop, indicating he's not as proficient in that role.
