I agree with every suggestion on here so far, the game is currently a shambles so needs restructuring from the ground up.

Also, for me, they MUST bring back the TILT Camera Angles 1-9. Essential.

Better Graphics -- Always welcomed, but isn't a priority for me.. Gameplay is much more important.

You can improve the movements, the graphics, you can secure all the licenses in the world, you can have flawless Online Play -BUT- if Konami doesn't upgrades their Foundations, the Core Gameplay will remain unchanged.

So with that in mind, I want NEW STATS, I want a revolution in the Stats.. the game needs more realism and substance. Everyone does the same tricks, we need new DRIBBLING STATS, amongst many other.

PES needs a host of New Stats, in particular TACTICAL STATS. The game needs more Tactical Attributes, and tactical attributes need to be much more important in-game.

Compare the Brazilian Ronaldo with Cristiano Ronaldo.. The Brazilian Ronaldo didn't seemed as "agile" or as "quick with his feet" as Cristiano Ronaldo -BUT- R9 had an "explosive burst of speed" that made him lethal.

If a Stat for "Explosiveness" and "Running Technique" was added -alongside- "Agility", "Top Speed" and "Acceleration" -- the game would be Significantly deeper.

We need New Stats such as:

- Cutting the Ball
- Body Feints
- Weak Foot Dribbling Ability
- Shielding the Ball
- Finishing
- First Touch
- Step Overs
- Flicking the Ball
- Nutmeg
- 360ª Roulette and 180ª spins
- Avoiding Tackles
- Running Technique
- Explosiveness

Other than that...

I want to see new Concepts such as an in-game "Confidence Level" gauge to measure the confidence level of each individual throughout the game, throughout each play.

The sum of all the Individuals will make the Team's Overall Confidence Level, and the momentum will be in favor of the Team with better confidence.

Meaning that the "momentum shifts" would rarely be the same, maybe in one play the momentum is overwhelmingly going against you.. whereas in other plays the opponent will only have a very slight advantage in momentum.

This alone would be a great addition in my opinion, players with "low confidence level" will not run as much off-the-ball, and consequently some of their Stats will go DOWN momentarily.

On the other hand, a player with "high confidence level" will tire less and some of his Stats will go UP.. So if you have Riquelme or Fabregas with a "high confidence level" chances are that their Passing will be even more accurate than in normal conditions.

A Cristiano Ronaldo with a 90% Confidence Level will be more likely to score a goal or dribble past one or two opponents.. On the other hand, a Cristiano Ronaldo with a 60% Confidence might not be so lucky, and may disappear for some plays.

The confidence level of the teams, or in other words, the "momentum shifts" throughout the game would be different in each Play. Meaning that the Confidence Level would go up and down continually, for the whole 90 minutes.

Maybe in one PLAY you have Cristiano Ronaldo with a 90% Confidence Level.. whereas by the 70th minute of the game Ronaldo could have a 60% Confidence.

It would affect both Individual performances and Team performances, in a deeper and more realistic way. This would get rid of the random "Momentum Shifts" that we have in all PES games. There would be solid reasons for the sudden momentum shifts.

Instead of:

* John Terry suddenly beating Fernando Torres on PACE.
* Your Defensive Players suddenly stop moving, for no particular reason.
* Your players become significantly slower and weaker than the opposition.

There would be a reason for all those scenarios.. if John Terry beats Fernando Torres on PACE, that would only be possible if Fernando Torres haves a Low Confidence Level in that particular Play or Match.

Point of the matter is that we would have reasons behind every AI-Action. Somehow seeing John Terry running and accelerating past Fernando Torres is highly unrealistic and annoying.

Other than that..

I want Less Time and Space on the pitch -- PES09 is too SLOW TACTICALLY, you have too much time to think whatever it is you want to do.. this becomes boring very fast. PES needs to be sharper and faster in this aspect, it needs to be Mentally or Tactically Faster.

Another thing that needs improvement is the one-on-one play. It's time to add a Distance Gauge or something like that, to measure the distance between Attacker and Defender -- Distance is key when Attacking or Defending.

A gauge for measuring the distance between Attacker and Defender would definitely add a new element of Space and Timing into the game. This would add some much needed substance to one-on-one play. We would have to master getting "in range" for dribbling or defending.

Other than that..

A very important aspect that I have never experienced in any Football Sim is in how you "Intercept Passes".

In PES09 it requires zero thinking, you just; run, run, run, run, and release some buttons when the time is right.. and eventually, or most of the time, you end up winning possession back.

Defensive Play in PES09 is excessively straightforward, one-dimensional, and boring.

In real-life "intercepting the ball" is a very important part of the game. You have to make split-second decisions and react in-time.. which is very involving and addictive if you get the hang of it.

It is a gamble, first of all you need to have good awareness if you want to intercept a pass, and secondly.. you need to chose Left or Right or Center. You have to anticipate, and sometimes you get it right, other times you don't.

Although I agree with you on some points, I think its a little naive to assume that changing graphics and movement is pointless. Evidently with improved movements and animation will coincide with gameplay changes. If there are more animation then that will mean you will be able to do more things which directly affects the gameplay e.g. 360 movement. Therefore animations are just as important as gameplay as they work together to make the game work.

Also your stats system sounds promising but would it work? Adding more stats to pro evo (there are a lot at the minute) would complicate things to the point that the game would not function. e.g. having a stat "explosive burst of speed" is just unrealistic and too specific. I do agree that they could add more and something to do with team morale but adding more stats does not make it deeper it makes it more difficult for programmers to make the game work as your theory suggests it should

There are lots of things I'd like, not going to list them all, but the main thing for me is more National teams. Just throw them all in, why not? We can also play the matches everyone wants to play, such as Palestine v Israel, North Korea v South Korea, Iraq v USA, Bosnia v Serbia, come on, you all know you want matches like this.

Remember guys, if Konami did all leagues with all kits then that means we would be able to create/insert a team over the ones already done. EG: I can create Leeds nd go over Valencia but if all Spanish teams were doen then where woul you create teams?

Not in Team C section because you cant use them in Master League. Why dont Konami just let us use Teams we create in Team C section in the master league.

Other than that:

Gameplay, I dont know what they done to it this year but it doesnt feel like football. Still too fast. Animations are poor too. New game engine.
A more realistic and true to life master league and be a legend career.
Better graphics, game engine
Improved editing system
More stadiums( lots more even if they are made up)
More teams/leagues like the Championship, some leagues from Portugal, Norway Sweden, Scotland etc, Maybe even Serie B ETC
Improvement on importing fac scans.
Stadium editor. Let us create our own stadium with team colurs etc.
Mid season you should have cup games during your season on the night time. Or give us a choice on the game menu screen.
Bring back the option to change socks/shorts/shirts on the game option screen.

Maybe Konami should take a year off and really work at it, maybe then we'll have the game we want.

Seriously, this would be great. I mean, they're there explicitly for the creation of custom teams, so why aren't they available in ML? At least give us the option to make them "ML-enabled" when we create one.

Bring back the option to change socks/shorts/shirts on the game option screen.

Another great point. Play WE United vs Newcastle or Udinese, and the CPU invariably sticks both teams with almost the same damned kit.

Graphics and Movements are extremely important, and definitively aren't pointless.

But my point is, that if the graphics and movements improve we will have a good game.. but if the Stats remain unchanged the Gameplay will pretty much remain unchanged at its core.

It's like when I play PES6, crappy Graphics and not the best Movements.. but the game just feels right. It's a great game I must admit because I've been playing it for 3 years now, but by now I just don't find it that entertaining anymore.

I can see the flaws more noticeably with each play, and although the Gameplay is Addictive and Fluid and Responsive.. it just doesn't haves enough depth. The Stats are not good enough.

I'm just saying, that 360ª Movement and Passing will come hand-in-hand with a host of New Animations.. and therefore should also come hand-in-hand with a host of New Stats to determine all those new gameplay features.

More Stats are the future, PES has been using the same set of Stats and Special Abilities since PES3 (I think) -- It's about time they Revolutionize their Foundations.

And a Next Gen Console is easily capable of More Stats.

The "Explosiveness Stat" is very very simple.. instead of having the OLD "Top Speed" and "Acceleration" and "Agility" -it's- simply adding a new layer to these physical attributes.

Accelerations determines how fast the player reaches Top Speed. Top Speed is obvious.. and Agility is also obvious.

The "Explosiveness" Stat would add depth to the gameplay, it could determine that "burst of speed" when changing pace or when shifting from "stationary to sprinting".

When you are Stationary you are not running, therefore the Acceleration Stat isn't good enough. We can have both "Acceleration" and "Explosiveness".

Acceleration is more relevant in the higher gears and in big wide open spaces, such as the flanks. And Explosiveness is more relevant when shifting from stationary to running, and in smaller spaces such as the Penalty Area or the Middle of the Pitch.

This would define important differences. Like comparing Cristtiano Ronaldo with Leo Messi, both have good Pace and Agility, but Leo Messi haves "an explosive burst of acceleration" that Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't haves.

Leo Messi doesn't necessarily haves a higher Top Speed, he's just better at cutting the ball and changing pace. Messi goes from 0 to 60 like a Ferrari.

Whereas on the other hand, Ronaldo haves more or less the same Top Speed, the same Agility, good Acceleration once he is going at a quick stride.. but he needs more Space and Time to develop that velocity. He cannot shift from a Stationary stance to a 100% sprint like Messi or Maradona.

This in part haves something to do with Leo Messi having a Low Center of Gravity, which gives him an advantage in short sprints and small spaces.

But I think there's more to it, The Brazilian Ronaldo was a big player, and he was lethal with his explosive changes in pace.

Romario and Van Nistelrooy where also players that, in their prime, used their explosiveness to great effect on the final third of the pitch.

Johan Cruijff was another player who was great at shifting through gears, he was always changing pace and twisting and turning, his explosiveness was almost electric-like and he wasn't small nor had a Low Center of Gravity.

This is WHY I think that attributing explosiveness solely on a "Low Center of Gravity" would be a bit inaccurate in a Football Simulation.

Because we have players like Messi, Romario, Maradona.. but we also have players like Ronaldo, Johan Cruijff, Van Nistelrooy.

But yeah..

The Priority right now should be in the Movements and Graphics.. but also on the Stats. Not many Stats, simply re-organizing the Stats, improving the Stats, in the end maybe implementing some 10 or 15 New Stats.

I don't think that's incredibly difficult to achieve. Although with PES 2010.. I'm guessing Konami will probably change the Movements and Graphics, and use the same Old Stats.

Maybe they'll start implementing New Stats with PES 2011, once the New Engine is working fine.

I'm telling you right now Konami, won't do much to change it!! They also need to make the crowd and commentary parallel with the gameplay situation, right now, it si no where near it!!

The Commentaries are one of those Details that make a huge difference to the Gameplay, I think it's overlooked by many fans, including myself.

It just feels so inaccurate and Unrealistic, at times it's plain funny because it makes little sense with the in-game action.

Sometimes I just hold the ball and do nothing, just standing there to see what the commentaries would be -- Nothing.

In Real-Life if a player did nothing but just hold the ball in the middle of the pitch the commentators would definitely start saying something like "what's wrong with him.. he's just standing there doing nothing!!".

Or when I make an outstanding Tackle, a Goal-Saving Tackle -- the PES09 commentators don't seem to care about it.

In real-life if a defenders makes an outstanding goal-saving tackle, the commentators always show praise with comments like "outstanding tackle!!" or "he's been outstanding tonight, hasn't missed anything!".

It also needs more particular commentaries whenever they mention a star-player. Like for example:

"What a Goal by Ronaldo!! great goal!"

"They have to watch out for Riquelme's passing, they are leaving him too much space"

"Leo Messi seems lost tonight, hasn't made his usual runs"

PES needs accurate commentaries like that, it will make the Gameplay more realistic and involving.

Where Do I begin....

-Handball. This is long over due. Add some animations where players try to move their arms to avoid the ball.

-No black screen on Free Kicks and Throw-ins. I hate this because it resets the defense on throw-ins, they need to make the game more fluid.

- More goalie control. I hate it when I have someone open on the wings and my keeper just lazily kicks it over. There needs to be more variety. Goalies rushing to get the ball out of hands or kicking it over to the other side of the field with some pace.

- The AI defense needs to be less aggressive when the other teams has the ball in their own zone. I hate passing it back to my goalie and seeing some striker run like a mad man trying to make a play. I rarely see this in real life unless the game is close or the defense hasn't properly cleared the ball.

- Play stoppages for injuries. I believe WE9(PES5) had this feature where the team with the ball would kick it out of bounds to get the medics out.

- The rubber band AI needs to stop. Instead of turning your user AI team into a bunch of zombies or chickens with no head. I hate giving up goals then going to the replay to see my CB running away from the ball/ball handler. This drives me up the wall.

- Set piece plays. I forgot which FIFA had this but on set pieces you could set up the way your team ran towards the net to try to score.

- Ability to chose how many players cover the post on opponents free kicks.

- Many baseball games have this, there should be an option to warm up reserves. Players don't just magically leave the bench the stretch and warm up. Make it an on/off option. I believe it adds realism to the game. Plus it gives you the option to select when you want your reserve to enter the game.

- More bend. Besides crosses, free kicks, volleys I rarely see any bend on shots. I don't want every shot to be some whizzing curler but a lot of goals I've seen on TV have some kind of spin/break on the ball. Players like Gerrard, C. Ronaldo should have shots that make the ball "dance" to throw off the goalies.

- More goalie animations. Need I say more.

Now for off the pitch suggestions.

- More accessories, long sleeve undershirts, neck warmers, etc.

- More boots.

- Ability to add facial hair to preset faces. Why was this option removed?

- I think the amount of boots was fair. But there needs to be more color options.

- Everyone keeps saying this but, shirt, sock, and shorts should be selectable during the Kit selection screen.

- More stadiums. WE2007 had 37. How come next gen gets the shaft?

I probably have more but this is all I can think of at the moment.

Just want to say new to the forums and am a big PES guy. Thinking a little bit outside the box (apart from everything we all want to see from improved gameplay and enhanced graphics) what about seeing real in game advertisements that you would actually see while watching a match, i.e. major sponsors and even club tv channels such as LFC TV or MUTV. This would add to the realism factor when playing the game. Also another idea might be to partner with either a Setanta or SKY and they could use their logo in the game, so that it would be just like watching an actual broadcast.
Of course for the actual game itself I would like to see more stadiums added such as Anfield, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge. Also wouldn't mind seeing other leagues like the Argentine first division or even MLS. Good to hear that Konami are going after new licenses and leagues to improve the overall product.

I had handball called ONCE in '08. A cross bounced off my striker's chest as he was turning to take it down on the run, the ball hit his arm and dropped, the AI defenders all threw their arms up, the whistle blew and gave the AI a free kick. It was a  moment.

(sorry for english)(gr)
maybe commentary could be more detail f.ex teams names and some informatiom fot them, some details for the players and their career, or the way they do something in the game and maybe they can give us the option to put the names we want in a commentary machine.

alot have already covered the gameplay here so i'll go on about the master league.

Master league

Real currency
Uefa Champions league & Europa league integration
More licensed leagues - greek, russian and croatian are unlicensed in both fifa and pro evo and if possible add a few bundesliga teams.

more concurrent leagues- at least 8 would probably be needed for a full uefa champions league and a reduced europa league. it already has the unlicensed premiership, seria a, eredivisie, ligue 1, la liga so it will only need 3 more licensed leagues.

scrap d1 and 2 cup - have one or two national cups played between both the divisions with a europa league spot for the winner regardless of division.

Fix fatigue system - players do not suffer burnout in 4-5 games in a 38 game season in reality. on average it should be atleast 10-15 games depending on the player i.e under 18 and over 32 would tire more quickly compared to the rest.

fix injury system - there should be more than just leg injury's such as head or shoulder injuries from colliding or landing awkwardly. also i was getting players like robin van persie and eduardo picking up an injury almost every match they play.

unhappy players can ask for transfer requests - im not sure if its already in the game i just never had it happen to me.

red card appeal - have it so you can appeal about 3 or so straight reds a season considering the refereeing in the game.

add real second tier teams(e.g. championship) for each league - probably asking for way too much here it will be very unlikely.

allow created leagues in master league if the latter cant be accomplished.

trophy cabinet

as they have a partneship with setanta sports how about team of the week and a virtual setanta news station with news like match reports, goal highlights, transfer rumours, players commiting themselves to their club, injury news ect.

have attendences, tv money and sponsorships play a more visible part in revenue

I remember back in WE9, you could find out EVERYTHING about the match. How your players moved in attack, how goals and attempts were built, how you passed throughout, et cetera. Whatever happened to that stuff?
