The only two things I significantly care about for an upcoming ML (and for PES in general, I only play it for the ML) are:
1. Better and more realistic league system with more teams and leagues.
2. Youth team stuff: no more reincarnation of retired players, I want to see purely CPU generated players start with the youth teams (a very basic youth team system would be nice) and work their way up. Except please make it realistic, ie their names, appearances, talent, and playing style is representative of the country their from. That means no Brazilian style super-creative English players, etc. It also was kind of annoying in other games when hair styles didn't correspond properly with the players' races (not that I'm racist, it's just unrealistic when most of the black or Asian players have naturally blond or brown or red hair). Just as long as the CPU produced players are believable, that's all.
Anyways, the CPU generation youth players is the market of a true 'franchise' mode in a sports video game, and all major American sports games have had it since the 90s. Yes with football it's more complicated due to its global nature, but come on now, we're almost to the second decade of the new milenium, this is old technology.
Also ML is much worse if the editing is bad. The editing was awful and much more restrictive than it has ever been in the past, and this hurts ML the most. Just giving us the freedom we previously had with editing would make the ML much better.
Does anyone see any of these changes happening within the near future or am I just a dreamer?
