What if Sony/Microsoft...

so the state of SOCCER games is up in the air these days, one game has all the licenses, some full, some partial. the other game has about 3 full licenses. how about if sony and/or microsoft made their own football game? first party development means they can bypass the contractual barriers that some leagues have with other developers.
an example of this would be the major league baseball license; its exclusive to 2k games yet sony has a first party dev that makes an mlb game fully licensed on its own, and its superior to the 2k sports version.
can you imagine if sony/microsoft would just go ahead and develop a first party football game? any license can be accessed and agreed upon with no restrictions, and it would add another option into the mix, further increasing competition and innovation among all the games.

..a man can dream...

in theory it does sound like a good idea, but put in to practice, well we would have to see.

I posted a similar post to this a few months ago.. and I agree with you MLB The Show is the best baseball franchise ever and the same liscences are applicable to the NBA (2k9/live), we need FIFA to grow up a little

Chances are they would end up as second rate cash-ins unless partnered with either Konami or EA to make use of their expertise. Downside of a 'partnered' deal is game would likely become platform specific.

In reality, EA are too big to be interested and both would have a reduced cut in profits due to Sony/Microsoft cut.

Highly unlikely that FIFA or PES will ever have a suitable challenger.

if sony computer entertainment europe (NOT japan :) lol) would see the chance that can be taken these days and get the funding, who knows. and btw bongplayer mvp baseball was the best baseball games of all time, till ea got a taste of their own medicine and were stopped from using the mlb license.
