What is the best memory device to transfer files over the the Xbox 360 ?

Hunter

BELIEVE
I haven't got much time, plus clawing through all these threads will be trecherous. I've got an unmodded Xbox 360, I've edited some Prem kits but really can't be arsed anymore to be frank, plus I would like the Bundesliga etc if possible.

I was just wondering what exactly is the best device to use to transfer these option files over ? I've seen people mention things like Datal Transfer Unit and Xsata or something, but I really haven't a clue, everything is so mind-boggling.

Any help would be much appreciated, plus someone could possibly combine this with the "how to patch on Xbox 360" sticky thread at the top as an alternative method to acquiring option files. Might keep the dunces like me from making threads every day asking the same questions.

Thanks again, if someone could link me up to the transfer devices, I'd be buzzing, plus I've heard one can corrupt files or something ?

From previous experience when i had an Xbox360 i bought a SanDisk 1GB Cruzer Crossfire. It was advertised as made to be used with a 360 so its probably a pretty safe choice mate. I now use my one with my PS3 so i know its compatible with other things as well as a 360 and a PC. Its really cheap for a 1GB one too. Play.com and Amazon.com sell em. Currently amazon sell em for about £5.29 minus p+p and play sell em for about £6.99 inc. p+p. Also play are currently doin a twin pack of the 1GB ones for £7.99. Bit weird considering its only £1 more for an extra one. Id probably buy the twin pack tbh mate coz its well worth the extra £1 to have a back up imo. They should work anyway.
Hope that helps you out mate :)

Personally Hunter, I've just purchased a Xsata. Now I know less than nothing about fiddling with files and stuff, and I found this very easy. There are a couple of superb guides on the net about how to do everything you need to, and the .PDF that comes on the disk with the Xsata is helpful as well.

It's also quite nice, as it stays in place on your Xbox when not in use, so no chance of mislaying it or anything.

Sounds good, only thing that puts me off buying these types of things is a few people have complained about them corrupting all their Xbox 360 files.

Have you downloaded any option files yet ? (which ones, and do they look good)

Thanks man.

I've downloaded the D&B one, and yeah it's pretty good - there's an update in the works I believe.

I think it'll only fuck up your 360 if you piss around with it. You can also back up your Xbox harddrive onto your PC, so you wouldn't lose anything if something did happen as well.

Sounds good actually, where did you buy yours from mate ? I'd just want to get it before I go back up to Newcastle on Monday morning. (Whether websites do next day delivery for it etc.)

I think its sometimes more down to luck if the thing you buy works or not... I keep reading that people have installed the update, but I'm having no luck at all - I've just received my xPort and have found the file I'm supposed to drag my .bin files into... but it won't do it. The mouse arrow turns into basically a 'no entry sign' and does not drag and drop.

I have tried downloading Xplorer360, but I still can't drag and drop! The mouse turns into a little 'plus' sign this time but does not 'drop' into the xPort/hard drive.

Any help much appreciated.

I got mine from Amazon mate, with the next day it arrived at about 12. You'd have to order it pretty soon though, to get it for Tomorrow.

how big of a memory card do i need to simply copy the one of these OFs to my xbox?

i'm thinking about going the transfer kit + memory card route, but am trying to keep the cost down, so i'm looking at one of the 64mb cards.

will 64mb be enough?

Thanks.

Just ordered it then, it's went up in price by around £2 overnight. :fplm:

It's being despatched either the 3rd-4th November regardless of the delivery speed I choose. Express Delivery costs £8 whereas Standard costs £2 so I think I'll choose the cheaper option, I'll probably get it next weekend that way which should be okay. :)

Thanks for your help mate, I appreciate it.
