Never like the ISS series, up until FIFA 97 my last FIFA, played Pro Evo at a mates house the original on the PS got hooked and dropped FIFA picked up my own copy, for some reason did without the sequel on the PS but have a copy of every version on the PS2 and PE5 is the biggest change in the series ive seen, the game now is football, there are still a couple of niggly errors but awsome series just keeps gettin better.

Winning Eleven 4 was the turning point in my football games.. always use to buy other soccer games including FIFA. which i must say FIFA 98 for me has to be the best ever one EA' has made, its classic and i still have it. anyway, ever since WE4, i started buying and loving the ProEvo/WE series..

ISS on SNES & Megadrive.

Then went onto getting the ISS & Winning Eleven games on the PS, think WE3 was a turning point, in my mind anyways, i seem to remember the shots being tuned up a bit on that one and the bicycle kicks being more effective from crosses. Also with the J League teams, we always picked Jef Utd, Grampus & Kasima. Most memorable commentary for me was the guy always screaming out Stoicavichi! when he had the ball (sp?)
I also used to like the old style nets (posts with built on stancions), be decent if they could include them in some stadiums or the training ground on PES6/WE10, prob asking a lot there though, the net physics would be miles harder to create than a plain box net.

On PS2 (PES1-4 & WE5-9)
On XBox (PES4, WE8, WE8i)
and will get PES5 on both XBox & PS2.

I also went and bought a supergun (a "console" you can plug a jamma board into and play arcade games on TV) and the PCB for Soccer Superstars by Konami, pretty good, about the best arcade footy game i've played, you could actually score in other ways than cross/shoot and freekicks were finally scoreable.
Unfortunately i don' have that anymore :(

I'd also played FIFA a load too whilst i was trying to educate mates that it was shite and unrealistic & ISS was far superior and was extremely pissed off how perfectly accurate shots were from anywhere inside 30yards with any player on the game.
One mate even said how shit ISS was cos you couldn't turn offsides off!!!
I still take the piss out of that to this day.

The only other footy game i've enjoyed as much as PES/WE series were the SWOS titles on the Amiga & PC.

iss pro evoultion the ps1. I think pro evolution soccer 2 on the ps1 was the best 1 ever for its time. I am hoping that pes5 has returned to that a bit more. Harder to take ppl on. And a real sense of achievment when you score.

Well I always played them back in the day. Yup, ISS Delux was the shit. Then somehow I walked down the wrong path for many years..............FIFA was my game. I somehow liked FIFA more until I was forced to sit down with a patched version of PES4. After that day, FIFA can kiss my ass. And FIFA 06 is still crap, I played the full version and...................I wanted to puke. First they now stole the PES controls. Yes, L1 is switch players, X is steal and pass, O is now a lob pass, Square is now shoot, R2 is how you sidestep etc. Second, it still has the most unrealistic goals on earth. Third, it looks like total shit. The GFX are so fugging poor.

I can't wait for PES5!

Played ISS on the SNES/MEgadrive. Coudln't really appreciate the depth of it at that time. FIFA 96(PC), FIFA97 then RTWC98 (which is a good game). Was in Indonesia on holiday and saw a game called J-League Winning Eleven while shopping. It was in Japanese. Bought it and realised that it was actually an incarnation of the earlier ISS.

Scoured the net reading reviews and looking for manuals. Only then began to appreciate the depth and possiblilties of actually playing something closely resembling real-life football. No more instant bicycle kicks from any cross. Goals trickling over the line from fumbles. Never scoring the 'same' goal twice. Actually being able to miss sitters and 1v1's.

Have not looked at another FIFA since.
