Just wondering who is still playing PES 13. Here you can specify when and how often you play and also whether or not you are still enjoying the gameplay refinements a month after release.

Everyday, MLO exclusively. The most frustrating game ever made.....can't take myself away from it though, trying to build the perfect Tiki Taka team; Santi, Silva, Xavi, Iniesta, Pjanic, Messi and Paddy McCourt.

The worst element of the game is the dribbling. Loved the burst mode in PES2012, a drop of the shoulder and quick burst of acceleration into space. Now though, my player automatically locks on to the nearest defender and plays out a shitty animation. I want to dribble into space, not into a defender, nor do I want to nutmeg my marker when a simple jink will do the same job only better.

The feint inputs are also too cluttered on the RS. L-R is a Matthews feint, but a diagonal L-R is a flip-flap, a 180 turn on the RS is a roulette but a 240 is a step-over and a 140 is a scissor step-over. I like that they removed the LT/L2 requirement for executing the feints though.

I love these posts... "PES suxorz so I play another game that suxorz instead."

(nothing personal towards the poster, but aimed at these kinds of posts in general)

Fifa 13 is like a Ferrari compared to Fiat if you compare it to Pes 13, sorry but its true.

The game is not perfect or amazing, but its still much better than the horrible pes 13.

It is happening again
Been hooked playing PES online recently.

I don't know why. Judging by some of your recent posts/threads, you seem to hate it so much!

It seems that this year, a lot of people are just sticking with the game they think is less shit. In your case, that's Fifa.

I'm in a similar boat, albeit with the offline Master League mode.

I've been using Daymos' Xbox 360 option file (V2) for a while now, and whilst it is truly amazing, it does have some issues when combined with Konami's more recent patch releases. One of these issues I believe relates to playing online, of which can be difficult. A regular 1 vs. 1 exhibition match online just doesn't seem to work for me at the moment, however quick match online usually does - although the servers are apparently down right now... not sure if that's true for everyone.

Overall though, the gameplay of PES 2013 itself I think is excellent and I've certainly been playing it very regularly. I'm currently enjoying developing my original Konami squad in offline ML mode, along with youth team players.

You don't need to lie, I have FIFA 13 myself and know that the difference between them, in "quality", is minimal.

Ok lets compare then ok?

-Graphics? Fifa by a slight margin ( its close but Fifa looks better while pes seems to have a bit more realistic faces from close up )
-Animations? Fifa by far ( no contest )
-Commentary? Fifa by far ( no contest )
-Atmosphere? Fifa by far ( no contest )
-Realistic things? Fifa by far ( dunno how to name this, I mean things like handball, advantage rule, snow etc... )
-Modes? Fifa ( thanks to KONAMI screwing up ML with magic boots and stuff like that, otherwise PES would be the winner here alltho fifa career mode is quite good anyway )
-Freedom? Fifa by far ( running on rails in pes etc.. no suprize here )
-Features? Fifa by far ( KONAMI just seems to keep removing features every year..)
-Licences? FIfa
-Gameplay? ( there are many sub things here but I won't really go into invidual things like shooting, goalkeepers etc... il just give my whole rating ) Fifa wins again ( both games actually have alot of issues in gameplay and both different ones so its more or less even, some might prefer pes while others prefer fifa, however with some good knowledge of football you can actually change the gameplay in fifa by changing sliders while pes has no such option and its possible to make the gameplay quite decent with it, better than pes anyway, so fifa still wins here ).

so tell me fifa 13 is not a great game by any means but how can you claim pes 13 is better then, its simply not. Well its ur opinion anyway, I guess everyone is entitled to it.

Exactly.
PES is head and shoulders above in build up play and creating nice passing football is more important to me than slick shooting animations. Whilst the animations are great on FIFA it still gives it a way to floaty feel when building the play. I played FIFA for a weak and when you scratch the surface it's the same FIFA naffness.

Managed to get my courtesy rating down to B (finally) after constantly losing connection to the server when I first got the game.
And it is like playing a new game. Not faced any laggers. People not always picking big teams and much more football actually being played.
If you have the unfortune to end up with a C rating, it is a bloody nightmare.

Been absolutely besting online now like I use to in PES2011.

I'm glad I stuck with the game after early on hating online.

My comments in italic.

Ok lets compare then ok?

-Graphics? Fifa by a slight margin ( its close but Fifa looks better while pes seems to have a bit more realistic faces from close up ) Graphics is irrelevant, PES may be a tad better but in the end both are butt ugly and I don't care.
-Animations? Fifa by far ( no contest ) <- both sucks, no contest and no winner
-Commentary? Fifa by far ( no contest ) Who cares, they are turned off within three hours on both games...
-Atmosphere? Fifa by far ( no contest ) Obviously PES needs a patch, and if you got a decent one this one is tied.
-Realistic things? Fifa by far ( dunno how to name this, I mean things like handball, advantage rule, snow etc... ) I'd call it "pointless stuff that only nerds care about"
-Modes? Fifa ( thanks to KONAMI screwing up ML with magic boots and stuff like that, otherwise PES would be the winner here alltho fifa career mode is quite good anyway ) I like BAL, and play only BAL and exhibition so I don't really care about ML and a million modes on FIFA that I'll never use...
-Freedom? Fifa by far ( running on rails in pes etc.. no suprize here ) Those rails are only in your imagination
-Features? Fifa by far ( KONAMI just seems to keep removing features every year..) What kind of features?
-Licences? FIfa I'll give you this one, obviously...
FIFA has NOTHING good going for it when it comes to depth in gameplay, so anything you say about it can be laughed away

so tell me fifa 13 is not a great game by any means but how can you claim pes 13 is better then, its simply not. Well its ur opinion anyway, I guess everyone is entitled to it.

My point is that FIFA is a shallow shell of a piss game, it's about as interesting as slamming your dick in the freezer door. PES at least has some tactical depth, but once the novelty effect wears down you notice that it's full of shit that you can't really fathom why the developers put there in the first place. PES2013 Exhibition matches is the best footy game in history, in competition mode it's a worthless waste of space on the hard drive, exactly the same as FIFA.

Yeah, I absolutely agree.

Sure, one of the categories within MysteryMan's list is factual, such as licensing, but overall it doesn't make or break the game. The rest of the list is completely subjective, and a list I just happen to disagree with for the most part.

The most important aspect of a football game (or any other sports game), is the gameplay. Sports games often become repetitive after a while, and as such, by having a solid gameplay foundation, Konami have been able to make forward steps in the last few years. I personally disagree that FIFA 13's gameplay is superior to that of PES'. People often mention how PES players run as if they're on railroad tracks, yet at the same time, FIFA have their own tracks of sorts when it comes to shooting, with specific angles being an almost certainty to score - as if scripted. I feel a greater sense of freedom ultimately whilst playing PES 2013, and this includes astute build up play and tactics such as many sliders and formation variations to switch throughout the match. Another bonus is the difficulty of PES, therefore upon scoring a goal, you genuinely feel a real sense of satisfaction and that is the ultimate experience.

Konami might not be invested in licenses too much given EA's stranglehold upon the market, but given the number of excellent option file makers, you can essentially just download it, put it onto USB and into your console for real league names, badges, strips etc etc.

A sports game can have as many glossy menus and presentations as possible, yet it still all boils primarily down to the gameplay. This being make or break for a game, which is why PES 2013 still comes out on top in my opinion due to how solid the gameplay is, of which often stands the test of time, unlike menus, presentation, and so forth of which fast become dated.

Ultimately though, as long as you enjoy one of the football games on the market, then that's what's important.

I do not own PES13 nor FIFA13, but I agree with you. However, I think that "minimal" difference, is the difference between a "playable" game and an "unplayable" game.

I can play FIFA13 with friends and have fun for a couple of hours... can't say the same about PES13. PES13 offers more depth: as clear as daylight, that is. But the execution and core mechanics are so horrible (in my opinion) that I can't even be boethered...

In any case, I did not buy (nor do I plan to buy) either game, both are extremely dated and disappointing, I think there are far superior video games out there.

Yes i am still play mainly for 2 reasons nicer eye candy and also because I have the complete premiership chants installed, but not that much I,m playing 12 more still. Because the AI is not ridiculous with exxagerrated succesfull through balls, also because you don't recieve yellows and even reds for inocuos fouls which happens frequently in 13 and finally because I havenn't got round to editing all the players so that in my opinion there stats are closer to reality as I have already on 12...but i'm still fuming about the changes overall the game has taken 1 step forwards and 3 steps back

PES is for people who enjoy winning football as a team.

Fifa is for people who lose a game but are not bothered because 'did you see that flick I did'

Pro Evo is raw fifa is bling.
