Why Konami? Why?

I open this thread knowing that it may very well be removed if Konami is not the type of organization to take criticism.

Anyway...

I'm sure I am just one of the thousands upon thousands of former PES fans (and current EA FIFA Soccer fans) who is writing to criticize Konami for it's mismanagement of the PES franchise.

As an end-user of Konami's products, I don't care one bit about the challenges that Konami (the producer) faces in delivering a well-rounded and flawless product to me. I DO NOT CARE. I want something good for the money I pay.

When I was growing up, my family was obsessed with buying Japanese made products because of their quality and because Japan was famous for well-made products. From Sony and Hitachi to Toyota and Pioneer. Everything we bought was Japanese made. That was until 2008 and 2009 when I was introduced to Konami and the PES franchise. Konami proved to me that the Japanese, too, can make faulty and defective products!

To make my words short, I bring you here a list of some of the numerous problems in PES (in no particular order) that I have had the misfortune of having to deal with. I can write a book the size of the American Heritage Dictionary about the issues in this game:

1) AI is lagging and very very raw
2) Goalies (Goalkeepers) are worse than my grandmother in handling the ball and keeping the goal
3) More than 50% of shot attempts in front of an empty goal are unsuccessful because the shot is way off even thought the player is in a relatively good balance and the shot power is low.
4) The referee is simply annoying. I get tinnitus from the incessant whistling after a while of playing the game. And the programming for the referee is catastrophic. Simple challenges that don't look much like fouls get whistled and hard and obvious fouls get no whistles.
5) Many menus and menu items in the entire game are next to useless, which to me it means that a lot of man-hours have gone to waste.
6) For some reason that I cannot, for the f*cking life of me, figure out, the option to turn off replays has been eliminated. And unwanted replays are one of the most annoying things in this game.
7) All the information that is displayed after each game in Master League mode are scattered across multiple pages that you have to forward to by repeatedly pressing the X button. All that information can be displayed on one page.
8) Negotiations in ML mode fail without you having the option to tackle the underlying problem. In the real world, negotiations don't end in one back and forth between the clubs. There is haggling and bargaining. And what the f*ck does it mean when it says "Wasn't keen on the idea of facing competition for places." What the hell is that? A player is paid to do something for a team. Who knows of a soccer player in the real world who had complained about "competition" over places and positions? Geez!

Your input??

agree with everything you said,

also the commentary needs to be redone from scratch, it's absolutely pathetic.

Tbh, I don't think Konami care if you don't agree with the colours of the menus or the frequency of the whistle from the ref's whistle.

really disheartening how little people care about the lost league modes and ruined ML lets all bombard them with emails, fbook and twitter, its the only way they will fix the problem!!!

I have cancelled my pre-order and will not be buying PES2013 until you bring back the League mode!! I only play league mode - I have a very slow broadband connection (live in a remote area) and do not enjoy ML. How can you play football without a league mode?

There is a data file available for donwload now, but it's "corrupted" when it tries to install. I had the same issue last year early on, but I guess they'll fix it eventually. It might even be my firewall/antivirus that does it...

Jon Murphy has posted on his twitter account that he has contacted Konami in Japan reggarding the league mode and is waiting for them to get back to him.

The fact that konami would even remove league mode is worrying. I'm loseing the little faith that i had in this company to ever produce a good football game again.

I'll be looking out for Jon Murphys comments in fact I may direct message Jon on twitter as he follows me back, think he'd know better the amount of messages I sent about last years faults! Totally agree with everything said & I could add much more. I too don't give a brass monkeys knackers about budgets & excuses, if they can't deliver as good as EA maybe the price of the game should be £20? It's mis management & bad direction. To leave a League out is quite frankly ludicrous in a football game. The MLO match ups are also a joke, yet again I start a week after release & get hammered by laggy players who have all the players I need to sign but then can't as there's an Embargo..after 90 people sign them!? Sack The Board!

Totally have to agree with this. I don't actually have any issue with the commentators themselves, but the scripts are atrocious and the timing of different lines just baffles me.

@OP: I can't speak too much since I didn't play 2012 and still haven't gotten 2013 (and I won't get it either until I know the game is complete since it sounds like the online section of the game isn't even all there and won't be until it is patched in) but with the stuff that I do have experience with, such as refereeing decisions and other in-game issues. I'm not one as experienced as many other people here, yet still I think that it seems like Konami are first trying to revamp the main game and how it plays in order to bring the series back to how good it was during the PS2 times and they have had work to do with it considering how bad a start the series had this gen so I think it's good that they're not just focusing on things outside of how the game actually plays and functions, I mean I'd hate to see all extra stuff like extra player advertising and licensing and additional modes and such while the core game remains broken.

But at the same time I do worry when I see stuff like Leagues being taken out, the online section still suffering issues (and as I said above, apparently not even being fully up yet and suffering lots of issues from past games) and Master League still continuing on the same way without any sort of revamp. I mean if Leagues are put in later on and the Online section is buffered it means that they have probably released the game too early for the sole reason of getting a jump on FIFA and have been charging people for a title that isn't even finished.

Surely the point here is that since online gaming has become more mainstream, Konami have become really complacent with their releases. PES has never been as polished a product off-the-shelf as FIFA, and in the past the real honest reason for this has been a combination of EA's bigger budgets and Konami's attentions being focused on the gameplay.

However, now it seems that they are releasing their year's work knowingly under-par, thinking it's all fine and dandy because they can just release an update patch in the first couple of weeks after release. This is not acceptable. An update patch / data pack should be for minor tweaks and transfer updates only, and whoever at the top is allowing this culture to set in needs to sort it out.

It is clearly obvious that, in the UK at least, there is a core PES fan base that still love the game and everyone else plays FIFA. This fan base is declining year-on-year as a result of people getting increasingly fed up with this type of lazy release and the inexplicable removal of core game modes. I am still hooked on the PES drug and I love the gameplay this year more than ever, but I feel ridiculously let down every time I start the game due to the aforementioned errors.

Gameplay counts the most in a footy game, so why FIFA is still so popular baffles me although FIFA isn't half bad this year either.

I totally agree with the league mode issue. It's ridiculous to have licensed leagues, but can't paly them because you don't have the league mode. I was truly shocked when I found out about this. I hope they can fix this ASAP. And also, I kindly request Konami to bring back the International League I enjoyed it a lot. Please Konami International League back
