Why PES 2011 and not FIFA 2011 ?

Ive gone off pes2010 simply to the fact that in fifa you cant get a superplayer like messi dribble all the way down the flank and shoot and score. World cup game simply was a superb game as it was fast and realistic. It was realistic in terms of animations and tackling(slide tackle) and block tackling is easier. For those who disagree please give the world cup game some time playing and you will eventually be taken in by fifa. If you are still skeptical then remember I was once in your shoes that pes was still king but I realised that I was wrong, even looking at the pes 2011 trailer the animations still look jerky and realistic. messi is still a super player as he scored from the most awkward of positions. hopefully pes could reignite itself once the next gen consoles appear like ps4 etc as they will be multicore not one core split into 8 threads with one disabled like ps3 so the physics should be much better.

I did play Fifa 09, Fifa 10, Fifa WC...and neither is good.
Since you mentioned Fifa WC, I will give my thoughts and that game.

I bought Fifa WC, and initially I was very impressed. After winning my first match 6-0 with Argentina against England on default difficulty I knew I have to turn up the difficulty or I'll become bored after 1 day.

I played the game quite a number of hours...and won the World Cup numerous times...this is on the second highest difficulty, I think it's professional? not sure...but just beloew Legendary though. I won against England in the Semi Final 8-0 with Netherlands (or Holland in Fifa). I won 13-0 against Brazil...i know...

You mention that you can't take a guy like Messi and run through players and score from stupid angles...true, but hey I've seen Messi run through numerous players and scored from tight angles in real life??? So not very realistic in Fifa too hey? You cannot beat any defender with any attacker..which isn't realistic at all seeing that Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi do this every week.

It's initially a good game, but I got bored with it after 3 weeks and sold it. The goals are either one-on-one goals or headers from corners or crosses...that's it. The defensive play is sloppy, and the gameplay is waaay too fast.

I turned too Fifa as my favourite football game with Fifa09 after I quite enjoyed Fifa 08 and the disaster and let down that was PES08. I played Fifa 09 one month, winning everything in my first year in Manager Mode and sold it because I was bored with it. Needless to say I also bought PES09 and played more than 200 hours on it.

I bought Fifa 10, after winning everything in my first year with Lazio in Manager Mode AGAIN (on the second highest difficulty again) I sold it after a month because I got bored as hell...AGAIN

Repeat cycle...

Fifa's games or wow with all the smokescreens of presentation, animations etc. but you get bored very quickly as the gameplay has not depth at all. I've never played a Fifa game nearly as much as any PES game, even the crap ones.

Believe me buddy, you will see in a year or two's time...I was there in your place as well. You will see that PES is the only fun football game around and after you got bored with the Fifa games, and frustrated because you cannot edit ratings or customize the game to your liking etc. you will come running back to PES...as I did this year.

It's good to see others share my view on online.
It's not that I hate online, but everyone is so focused on online and online can be a decisive purchase on a game. AND THAT'S WHERE I GET MAD because offline is just as important. Actually it's more important than online because the biggest part of games are offline. :)

Well it's all subjective at the end of the day.

I value the online mode, because for me it is what gives the game that little bit more longevity.

A lot of people speak about how Manager Mode is boring after a while. I agree with this, but I also get bored of Master League after a while too. Same with Become A Pro and Become A Legend. And that is why online is so important to people.

It allows you to mix every game mode up. Playing against the A.I. all the time can become tiresome, so having the ability to play a human is great. Sure most of the guys pick the top teams, but you will find a few who will try to make it an even game.

PES5 was my favourite PES of all time. This was also the PES that I spent so much time online having epic games with my friend (who was my PES rival) and of course, randoms. The great thing about it was that online was so smooth, that it felt like you was playing in exhibition mode.

Having a good online meant I was able to balance online with offline and thus, I was able to play PES5 for a whole year without becoming bored at all. I even had the game on PSP!

Well, yeah you're right, but then again, I never said that online wasn't important. BUT SOME PEOPLE JUDGE A GAME MOSTLY ON ONLINE. And that's a problem in my opinion because single player is a bigger part but as you said, online gives it longevity. In my opinion judging a game because it has good online and not seeing the other stuff on the game is simply stupid because online alone don't make the game. It's a part of it. :)

My decision is geared more towards FIFA 2011, because more people online, more techniques, teams, licenses and handling that PES 2010, or I feel when I play that the players are robots .;)

i have seen some footage for PES 11 and I have to say , I am impressed. I have not played a full PES game since version 8 and have switched to FIFA. I agree that some parts of FIFA are getting too scripted but PES is also guilty of being a little too "mechanical".

Quote from Fifa forums:

Don't fall for this lalalala again. Every year EA come out with these features that don't actually exist. Basically it's the same game as it has been every other year, recycled and filled with pointless features.

Personality+? Tell me how this is new. All the players already have stats for dozens of different things. And they don't make a blind bit of difference. Quite simply fast players are awesome and slow players are rubbish.

In FIFA 10 it was 'Total Football Experience'. In FIFA 09 we had Custom Tactics to "Become a first-team coach with the power to tune and balance 11 tactical sliders for 140 attacking and 40 defending options (more than 50,000 combinations) so CPU players and your team perform just like the real-world team or how you think the real team should play". It's a joke. And who remembers FIFA 08 and "a thousand decisions per second"?

If Personality+ is their only marketing ploy for this year then you can expect the same game as FIFA 10. They haven't even bothered to lie about improving Manager Mode this year either after the backlash from FIFA 10. It doesn't look good. I'm staying well clear, I urge you all to do the same.

As long as PES keeps giving the feeling like you've actually scored a real life goal, it will always be my choice.

Well said!! Ive been trying to tell people that for years!!
im still playing 2010 master league and it only gets better the more you play it.

Couldn't agree more, PES had a couple of bad years but i still dont understand how people rate FIFA higher than PES. FIFA still remains an arcade game, with a few marketing slogans that make it seem as if it captures the true feel of football. It doesn't and probably never will.

I played FIFA 10 for a about a month, and switched back to PES 2010, cuz its just too scripted! I'm also playing Master League even now and i dont care much for online.

my biggest problems with PES games are:
1) stats are innaccurate for players
2) master league for me has NO longetivity - too easy, too superficial, no depth, the layout is disgusting. id rather have rubbish graphics on my menus but more information and ways to customise my team. FIFA has this problem too but it has sooo many other modes that it kind of makes up for it. also fifa's selling point is online.
3) online is rubbish
4) super players... sometimes are absolutley ridiculous.

i also HATE the number scoring system PES now have employed (like fifa's scoring). it ruins the experience of finding and picking players based on your analysis of their attributes rather than a calculated score.

the guy makes a good point because if everything they ever promised was really implemented the game would be unbelievable which it isn't.
people complain about the lies KONAMI has told us over the years but compared to those from EA they are nothing.
also keeping in mind that we can be very happy that KONAMI has the CL and EUROPA league licenses because they use them in their game.
EA on the other hand would have released a separate game just for the extra money those greedy bastards.
