to the extent that people pay companies to "powergame" their character.
What's that?

Anyways, just ordered it. Can't wait until I get my hands on it. Some people at my school play it, one guy got to level 60 in a matter of weeks.

I'll get back on this when I get it.

PS. Does anyone know if you have to pay if you want to make a public server?
If not we can have a "PESinsight server", just a thought..

You do not control servers. All servers are owned and monitored by Blizzard. All game content is owned by Blizzard.

What Stella is getting at is that people pay companies to get their character up to a certain point in a specified amount of time. It is a stupid thing to do. Furthermore Poffe, be warned that if you do stupid things like buy gold off eBay, they'll eventually find out and ban your account.

OK thanks.
I wouldn't do anything stupid like that. I'll just play the game in my own speed and enjoy it.
About these clans, or are the called guilds? Are they for fun or can you "Officialy" make one?

I've never played WoW, but if it's like any of the other games I've played, then the guilds are for a group of individuals (usually friends) to join. You can have guild hunts this way and it's easy to communicate to each other via the guild chat.

As Sweey pointed out, you'll get caught in the end - if you cheat.

You can make a guild in the game once you have enough money, recruiting takes time and some guilds go to an extreme requiring you to play a certain amount of time per week etc. which is where things get pathetic. There are tons of guilds per server on both sides (Alliance and Horde) so unless you plan on playing all the time, don't make one just join one when an opportunity arises. Some people prefer not to be part of a guild.

EDIT: Poffe one last thing: a female character in the game does not mean a real-life female person playing the game. Tons of people make money that way. A female character I have but have not played as for three or more months suddenly had mail from another in-game player with 12 gold attached. Why? Probably because they thought I'm female and would be so happy I'd start flirting with them etc.

My main character is female and I've had to deal with tons of people sending me private messages asking me how old I am etc. - dirty bastards

Jesus Sweey that cracked me up.
But if I make a female character and I get offered gold, can i transfer that onto my main character? Hihi.. :ninja:

Since there are worlds instead of clans, wouldn't that mean massive lagg?
Oh and Sweey, do you have a guild or are you in one? Or maybe you go solo bolo?

If they are on the same server AND on the same side (Alliance or Horde) then yes you can. I keep my characters that way as you can send items between them.and therefore support the professions which require gathering - mining and skinning for example.

EDIT: Sometimes you get lag, sometimes you don't. Considering the game has been up and running for over a year they've sorted almost all servers out. Before starting a character, read the forums to see if any guilds are considered to have bad lag - some are - and avoid them.

My main character (a female rogue) is in a guild, my others are not as I don't even play with the main character often, let alone the others. There are times you need a guild - high level quests and particular instances - but for the main part you can go solo and not really be hindered. There are plenty of quests you will need to do with others, but at that time you ask around in a local area through chat and as everyone needs a group to go with, you'll eventually find enough people to go with.

Got the game yesterday, kinda boring since there aren't many people, on videos I've seen like loads of people on parties and stuff, no sign of parties here.. :tumble:
Still a fun game, but I kind off expected more.
I just got my Dwarf up to level 6, he fell from a cliff, got caught in the air (must've been a bug) and now my sould/spirit can't get to him.

So I'll probably make a new character..

Poffe, you're at the start of the game. People who have been playing lots aren't going to be level 6 are they? You'll have to hit level 20 or more before you start finding lots of people around.

Also, you can always get to your body, or go back to the spirit healer to get revived instantly with the penalty of all attributes being reduced by 75% for ten minutes.

Gah, the most addictive RPG in the world, and the more you play it, the more you get sucked in to it :(. Planetside > WoW ;)

Poffe, even as a dwarf you can make the trek to Ironforge (stick to the roads or you're going to die) and take the train to Stormwind which, as you may or may not know, is in Elwynn Forest (human areas) and start there from level 1 if you so wish.

I love all the spells and shit, this game is teh pwnage.

Please refrain from internet speak, it is almost as bad as txt spk - "the" is an English word, "teh" isn't, "pwnage" isn't.

In any event it is nice to know you're enjoying it

It was meant in a joke-ish way.

Anways, I was just in a thing called battlegrounds, and I got three things from when I right clicked dead bodies, it says it's soulbound. What are they for?

Generally after a victory in a battleground you get a sort of prize and once you have enough of them, you can get special items to use within the battleground from a vendor close to the entrance.

I don't play this game but I've just read this in PCGamer.

Really, it's the height of bad taste. Gatecrashing a funeral, killing the corpse, then turning on the mourners. But that didn't stop the members of the Serenity Now guild on the US World Of Warcraft Illidan server. The online funeral was for a troll mage called Fayejin, a character belonging to a real-world player who suddenly died of a stroke. Fayejin's guildmates planned a memorial service by the lakes of Winterspring - a snow-locked mountainside on the northern tip of Kalimdor. They asked other players not to interfere with the event - but just come and pay their respects.

"On Tuesday Illidan lost not only a good mage, but a good person. For those who knew her, Fayejin was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. On Tuesday she suffered from a stroke and passed away later that night. Tomorrow, we will have an in-game memorial for her so that her friends can pay their respects." - Yanoa, Illidrama

It was going well. Using her account details, Fayejin's guildmates had brought her character to the event. Fayejin stood by the lake, where those who knew her queued to pay their last respects. All wore tuxedos. All left their weapons at the bank. The mourners passed her as if filing past an open coffin. It was as sombre as WoW gets.

"The game is not real, nor are the characters within it. Having said that, the person who died was real. The people playing the characters that attended were real, their sentiments and efforts to do the only thing they could realistically do, acknowledge the time that they had with that person, in the fashion that they knew the person, was real." - Anon

A Night Elf materialised behind Fayejin, and stabbed her in the back. Three, four swipes, and she fell to the ground, dead. Over the hill charged 20 Alliance characters from the Serenity Now guild, armed and ready to fight. They cast their snowstorm and meteor spells as one - catching the majority of the funeral party in the blast. Any stragglers were pummelled - they had no chance without their weapons. Within a few moments, the entire party had been wiped out - most just respawned and headed home. There was no fightback, no organised retort. Serenity Now had "won".

"I did it to get those people that brought real-life drama into a public videogame. I did it because the idea of holding a memorial inside a videogame is ridiculous and uncalled for, and frankly I think it's embarrassing and even disrespectful to the deceased. The whole concept of acting out a funeral with your warrior cows or undead sorcerers is laughable to me, and I enjoyed crashing the event." - Pagy, Serenity Now

Did anyone hear about this? It was slack but  nonetheless.
