Would this be legal for KONAMI to do?

Like CC said there are copyright laws in place that we do not understand. Take for example the names of towns or places. In pes 2 you could make a team with the commentary name Manchester. Konami had to remove it though as a result of the F.A./EA agreement.

i just skimmed thru this thread so if someone already said this then sorry, my idea is why don't konami go to nike and adidas and puma and so on and get them to license all their kit types for the upcoming year. i mean like if you look at nike goalie tops they are all the same this time out just different colours. last year, the adidas tops were all similar. liverpool and chelsea as an example. then they could let you edit the colour and possibly the logo's in the way you were saying.

its difficult to obey such a shi* law, so long as it doesnt say Manchester United or Man U it should be fine, Manchester is a place and surely it would be down to the council there to restrict its use, and even then they shouldnt be able to. im sure i read that dickface Paris Hilton copyrighted "her saying" of "thats cool" or something stupid, its two fecking words that are an everyday occurance in the english language how the hell can you copyright such a thing. the only sensible copyrights are those that state it is against the law to copy music/games ect or plagarise and so on....

I love how people are talking about "personal use" and how it's "only illegal if you sell it on" - we're talking about logos and designs like they're drugs...but yeah, I'm pretty sure they'd be allowed to divide up the logos and designs and then let us put them together - Nike can't copyright half the swoosh symbol, as an example.

Let's say you have a edit mode where you can change everything about a team player and logo.

Next you have these parts that make up a logo. For instance When you look at F.C Barcelona's logo you can see it has color, it has a Kinda of England flag in there and so on.

Would it be legal to put these things in separately in the game somewhere in the edit mode, so we can add them our self to a whole, to make it a complete logo?

The parts have to be more than just 4 pieces. It should not be noticeable.

That way we can poop on the license

well the league will be licensed....it wont be called LA LIGA tho but it will have the teams...so no need to edit.

Unless you know SeaBass personally, I find this ridiculously hard to believe. Not having a dig mate, but there's been far too many people confirming that La Liga won't be licensed.

Surely Konami can have Nike, adidas, puma etc licences in the game as with the balls. Why can't they put the logos on shirts? I'm sure they could.

Personally, I can't see where the comparison with drugs has come from?

For a start, drugs are a tangible substance which can cause serious harm to someone.

The "personal use" thing is a valid benefit of copyright law. It allows the consumer to buy a legitimate copy of a film/music/game and then make a backup copy for themselves as long as they don't sell on the original or the backup copy.

I think what's being mentioned in this thread regarding kits and logo editing are more to do with modding the game and making a backup copy.

Don't quote me on this but I do think that it should be perfectly legal to edit kits and logos in PES so that you can get life-like likenesess as long as you keep the modded version of the game to yourself - same as with most media and entertainment products.

I know I've probably said it a couple of times, but..

Would it be Legal for Konami to Feature the "Classic Players" with their Usual Random Names -BUT- with their Real Faces??

They have done it in the past with German players; random names and random (cheap looking) faces are their Default Settings -but- their real faces can be found in the Edit Mode.. I'm just wondering IF Konami can do the same with the Classic Players, and would it be Legal?

If so, I would really like to see some of the Greatest Players Yet in High Def Graphics. Although Unimportant from a certain point of view, it is increasingly Important that Players in Football Sims (and Sports Sim games in general) Look like their real-life counterparts.

In this case, Classic Players SHOULD look like their real-life counterparts used to look. Even if their Default Settings consist of Random Faces and Random Names, maybe Konami can include their Real Faces somewhere in the Edit Mode.

But anyways, does anyone knows if this is 100% Legal??

Konami should be able to put their old edit version of the game. I'm pretty sure you can't copyright, let's say Sporting CP's lion,Lyon's "O"+"L", Hull City's tigers and so on.
The local team names can't be copyrighted as well, no one is going to sue me because I wrote "I want to go to Liverpool" on a book, for God's sake.
My opinion is that YES,it is legal

As lots of people said, you can't use all the symbols together, though, copyright law forbids it. As well as Liverpool FC on commentary. That's copyright law, not everything stated above this sentence and below the last post.
