You're not playing full manual? Why not?

Not meant to be derogatory at all fellas. I just want to see you get as much out of the game as possible and playing with assists is just robbing you of a much better footballing experience. It only takes a dozen or so games to fully learn.
And if you have trouble scoring just raise the length of games.

I play with manual pass and basic shots.

Why basic shots ??? because manual shots have "broken" headers (since PES2014) .... totally random.

And my style is to play with crosses from the wings.

Sorry for going off topic, but I need to ask this. Is there a set of best practices while crossing. At every end of month report my crossing stats are below 10% accuracy. If you have any tips, I'll be grateful.

I can answer this one, given in my Pescara ML, in the end, I was scoring half my goals from headers.

First, you need good crossers. They dont necessarily need to have huge stats in passing and swerve, just find one that suits you. I really like Bellerín, Manquillo as well, but none has ever come close to Quaresma.

Then, you need someone on the penalty box to get it. At least 190 cm tall, or 182/183 if more than 82/83 in jumping and/or with Heading ability. Header stat is much more relevant here, if you have a shorter player with good Header he'll immediately "gain" 10 cm in the aerial battles. Good examples are Yussuf Poulsen and S. Coutinho.

Last but not least, only cross the ball when you see there's a real goal opportunity from it. Even in these cases it might be hard to get to the ball with your striker, so if it is in a "fuck it, I'll cross" situation, unless you have Ibra or Ronaldo (or Neuer) in there, you won't get it.

What's the difference between adcanced shooting and manual?

I like advanced shooting for 1 v 1 keeper situations and general shooting. But I find it really cumbersome for tap ins and quick first time shots.

E.g. My player makes a run to the back post. Any ideas how I can hit a safe tap in that is low and away from the keeper? Right now my tap ins using advanced shooting are struck unnecessarily close to the post. I've missed a few due to this so I now just hit shoot without direction so the player hits the ball down the middle. So far it's effective cuz too close for keeper to react. But sure.u there has to be a better way?

If I've got a wide open net and lots of time I use the pass button to shoot.
The biggest difference is that with assisted shooting the shots are always on net.
With full manual if you choke and aim way wide of the net the ball will infact go ten feet wide of the net.

With assisted passing (even at its lowest setting) the ball will always travel directly towards a teammate where as with manual you can pass into wide open spaces well away from your players allowing you to run onto the ball and/or keep it away from opposing players.

Is it true that headers are broken in manual shooting? I've only changed to it recently and find it more enjoyable, but I have noticed the 2 or 3 times I tried a header it went over...

Regarding the OP... I've tried manual passing a couple of matches and found it a nightmare... I just can't be precise enough in the direction with the stick. Through balls are even worse... The game becomes no fun since I can never relax, always have to be aiming precisely, etc, even when not under pressure and so on, for every little pass. Do you think I should keep at it? Did you lower difficulty?

Absolutely. It takes practice but in no time at all you'll get the hang of it and eventually won't even think about it anymore, it'll just become second nature.

When you start passing into open spaces instead of directly to players every pass you'll realize how much more realistic it is and wonder how you ever played with assists.
With manual passing and running onto the ball the game develops a flow that feels incredibly satisfying.

I think assisted passing is the superior option. It is much much easier to play very quick one twos and intricate passing in the box and in very congested areas. And if you want manual passing, just hit the trigger button.

Manual passing feels good during build up play in your own box and in the middle third. But I think assisted is the way to go in the final third. I usually focus lots of attention on tricks flicks etc. Having to deal with the added complexity of manual passing just adds another layer of complexity that doesn't really add much to my enjoyment.
