I haven't had any problems with TopSpin or Project Gotham Racing 2 and few other LIVE games on 50Hz. It is only Burnout3 that is affected. However I also have 50/60Hz TV :)

But since he's from US, then it is probably better to get a NTSC/PAL converter or similar, since SCART is European standard, it's not common in US...
