It's quite obvious why R* are doing this. To this date, GTA3 is selling plenty of copies for a game released so long ago. Thery'll bump the price up as high as they can because they know people will buy it. Their projected sales probably tell them this is the best price.

I've heard about and sampled the online mod of GTAVC. It's definitely promising albeit having some bugs but that's inevitable with first releases. The archdolts that use trainers in game are the real losers though. Just ruins it for everyone else.
