You get split screen offline & a limited choice of cars in the arcade mode, though I wouldn't necessarily say it was fun as it's supposed to be a sim. The full GT mode is single player & that's where the majority of the cars are. Really, you are going to struggle to find a decent split screen...

Disc cleaning can work & they do only charge a couple of quid for the benefit. Not had it done myself, but I do know a couple of people who have & have done so successfully... Don't know if you get your money back if it doesn't work though.
