Heres a copy and paste of some instructions for afs_explorer from a previous post that helped a few people, hope it helps you too... Steps 4 to 6 explains modifying reserved space, but i recommend to read thoroughly.

normally in afs_explorer, once you attempt to import a file but fail, the amount of space reserved should be automatically altered for you after pressing the modify space button (hammer with rainbow coloured backgound icon). You may need to rebuild the .img during this process though...
