I use the Xbox equivalent, R trigger. It's easy to get the shot on target with a good free-kick taker. Also, I like that shot and passing power stats count for something in set-pieces. If you take a corner with Del Piero, you need to have the power bar to be fuller to beat the first man; and...

How high do the stats have to be to unlock the special abilities? High 80s, or over 90?

They rarely show it, even when big name players come on/off.

I usually try to find space near the person with the ball, then call for it. I get the ball most of the time, but the key is to be in space near the player in possession.
