It may be an effect of the ghosting created by SD scale-up to high resolution screen that gave the speed effect. Additional clarity and 100% utilisation of screens pixels may account for the 'slower' (read defined) image.

No, the ones under 'your details' on the right hand side (or underneath main part of page depending on screen width/format). Can only see them on the original skin. Used to be there for me on the green & black, but cannot see them at all now.
