You can't add directly but you can swap your created player for one that is already in the national squad.

This is a interesting thread. I can score penalties but when it comes to describing the technique I struggle or seemingly get it wrong. Played PES against a few Fifa players and they just can't score from them.

Any squad changes made in edit mode won't be reflected in a existing League save or Master League (thought they never have in ML). I believe it's the same for cups.
