dribbling past defenders in pes3
Trust me, dribbling past defenders is exceptionally hard but not impossible. In fact it becomes quite a skill once masetered and all your frustration will be gone when you do master it. It is so satisfying, if that's the right word to use.
The trick is in my opinion to start out using sidesteps. They are key. From a sidestep you can go forward, diagonally forward, or drag back like Roberto Carlos. You can roll and drag like Veron also. If you get the timing right and you are in control of a half decent player you should get quite a nice success rate of going past people. That is until you get onto five star against good teams, then it is about variety of tricks, just like real football. For beginners, go into free training mode and just practise the different tricks using R2. There is a tricks list on a pro evo website somewhere.
As for going past them using R1 it is twice as hard. If they commit themselves to the tackle you can time a change in movement just right to go past them. If they jockey you slightly they will intercept or bundle you over if you start changing the direction of your run.
The best thing to do is like real football, get a yard on them and plough straight ahead using R1. Honestly, your player will hold them off the way they hold you off when you are chasing them. If you are slightly ahead of them in proportion to the angle they are running at you this will work. I know it sounds complicated but it is simple, it just takes practise.
Once all this is mastered you can master all kinds of ball trickery. The 360 is solid to perform but done right it can be lethal, I am still learning. Pulled it off a few times though.
Also, last tip, sorry to rattle on. If you want to keep possession in their half and they keep hounding you just keep changing direction quickly without using any buttons. Obviously if they get close to stealing the ball away you can use R2 to get an extra yard from them. And playing into strikers feet, I have not mastered this yet but by trapping the ball with R1 your striker more times than most will hold the defender off allowing him to lay the ball off when a team mate is available. Only works for a short time though.
Hope some of this helps someone.
