Guide to using WinRAR - What to do with .RAR files

Patches are usually too big to download as a single large file. So patches are compressed using WinRAR. This converts a .PPF file into one or several smaller .RAR files. To uncompress these and 'join' them to make the patch again, you need to use WinRar.

Get WinRAR from www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Install WinRAR.

Make sure you've downloaded all the parts of the patch.
Double click on the first part of the patch, which usually ends in ".part01". Or just the first RAR file you see in your folder.

WinRar should open. If it doesn't, try right-clicking on the first .rar file and open it with WinRar.

Right. Once WinRar is open, the second option in the top bar is "Extract To". Click on that. It then lets you choose where to put the unrared (uncompressed) patch file. The default option for this is a new sub-folder of the folder where the .RAR files are currently stored. I usually just click OK here.

Now wait for the patch to unrar (or uncompress).
Once done, you will see a new folder and in here will be your patch as a .PPF, possibly with a small document about the patch. Now you have your .ppf patch you can apply it to your game using ppf-o-matic 3 and away you go :)

Summary:
Download patch.
Double click on first part of patch to open WinRar.
Click on "Extract To".
Select folder (Click OK).
Wait for it to unrar.
Go to the new folder and check you have a .ppf file in there.

You can also try the "Test" option to see if the unraring process will work - this doesn't unrar for you, it just checks that the files are all cool and that it will work. If you have any problems, try this option. If it doesn't want to unrar, there may have been an error with your download. Doing the "Test" option should let you know which .rar file contains this error. So you should download that part again.

Happy unraring. And happy patching :)

Guides to patching PES4 are easily found as stickies here in the Editing section. Or use the guide that comes along with the patch you're trying to use.

Please don't ask random questions in the wrong threads. Ask in the appropriate thread and I'll try to answer - if you can make some more sense that would be helpful too.

Jonboyo's jb30.10.04pes4.ppf

ok for the jonboyo's latest patch i've downloaded 3 different Winrar files as requested but the ppf file names in each Winrar are the same thus when i unrar (extract) all of them to a folder theres a request(when im done extracting the 1st part and just started on the 2nd one) asking me wether to replace the already existing file...so wat should i do?? if i press yes it will only overwrite the first one and the end of the day i'll end up only wit the 3rd part coz it it will overwrite the first two(instead of combining wit them)..if i press no then there'll be an error..hmmm wat should i do

sorry Zygalski but its juz so confusing coz u only explain how to extract one Winrar which contains only a part of the whole ppf file rite..then how am i going to combine wit other parts of the ppf file which is inside their own respective Winrars..

Read. This. Carefully.

That ppf you have is the WHOLE ppf file. All extracted. Done. It uses all the rar parts automatically.

Try applying the ppf patch and you'll see.
Don't know how else to repeat the same thing so you'll have to go and try it.

Good stuff. Can you put into simpler terms what I was trying to explain to you so that anyone else with the same thoughts (as you had) can solve it quickly. Thanks :)

-u have to download all the necessary Winrars or else ur ppf file will be incomplete.
-download all the Winrars into the same folder (not too sure wether tis is necessary though).
-unrar(extract) the first part of the Winrar (tis action will automatically unrar the rest of the Winrar and combine to make a huge ppf).

*note* all the ppf files in each Winrar has the same look and size so dun worry bout tis..juz unrar the first one and ur done..hope tis helps ;)

The pc version is not patched using ppf files. You do as jim said, paste the patched version of the files you listed to overwrite the ones you currently have in your PES4 folder.
