I'm in the hit camp.
It has it's flaws but all in all I love it. A few more weeks of play and I will fully adapt and take to it even better.
PES2008 has the gameplay potential to be the best ProEv EVER!
But as things stands, it is actually the worst ProEv ever.
Sure, some of the downsides in the game are just due to flaws in the unfinished coding etc....but other rancid aggravating shit are in there quite intentionally.
Seabass thought it would be really cool to have goalkeepers who fumbled and parried all the time to make the game more exciting.
The way the refs issue red cards and penalties whenever a player trips over his shoelaces in the box is how Seabass thinks the game should be officiated.
Seabass has decided that since in the real world their is a lot of counter-attacking football going on...that he would make PES this way as well which is why he has ensured the defenders are so badly positioned by the games AI. It is more the rancid positioning of defenders and how the probability equations involed in deflections etc are always stacked 70/30 in attackers favour which is why the best way to win at PES2008 is to pass the ball as little as possible and just dribble right through and walk the ball into the net.
And as for the decision to make certain teams and individuals over-powered beyond belief......well....we all know who is responsible for that nonsense.
So PES 2008 problems do not just lie with the fact that Konami never invested sufficently in the games development and/or the dev's never had enough time to do the finished article. But are also largely down to how some has-been games coder thinks the beautiful game should be bastardised.
Even if Konami do release a hefty gameplay fixing patch. Essentially the same old horrible lame shit which has plauged the series ever since PES4 will persist.
