I'm in the hit camp.

It has it's flaws but all in all I love it. A few more weeks of play and I will fully adapt and take to it even better.

PES2008 has the gameplay potential to be the best ProEv EVER!

But as things stands, it is actually the worst ProEv ever.

Sure, some of the downsides in the game are just due to flaws in the unfinished coding etc....but other rancid aggravating shit are in there quite intentionally.

Seabass thought it would be really cool to have goalkeepers who fumbled and parried all the time to make the game more exciting.

The way the refs issue red cards and penalties whenever a player trips over his shoelaces in the box is how Seabass thinks the game should be officiated.

Seabass has decided that since in the real world their is a lot of counter-attacking football going on...that he would make PES this way as well which is why he has ensured the defenders are so badly positioned by the games AI. It is more the rancid positioning of defenders and how the probability equations involed in deflections etc are always stacked 70/30 in attackers favour which is why the best way to win at PES2008 is to pass the ball as little as possible and just dribble right through and walk the ball into the net.

And as for the decision to make certain teams and individuals over-powered beyond belief......well....we all know who is responsible for that nonsense.

So PES 2008 problems do not just lie with the fact that Konami never invested sufficently in the games development and/or the dev's never had enough time to do the finished article. But are also largely down to how some has-been games coder thinks the beautiful game should be bastardised.

Even if Konami do release a hefty gameplay fixing patch. Essentially the same old horrible lame shit which has plauged the series ever since PES4 will persist.

after playing it for awhile longer, its not THAT bad.
still the flaws always show.
-why does it take forever for a person to kick the ball (when its loose)... by the time he will kick it the balls already in the goalkeepers arms or gone.
-goalies seem to always leave his line too.

thinking about it fifa did a shit job at their first next-gen last year... so maybe next installment of pro evo will live up to its name.

I've played the PC version of both PES 08 and FIFA 08 and I think both are pretty close. I think this years PES 08 is quite a let down, I was expecting much more from it.

For me it's a hit, so far.

It's too FIFAesque, but i love playing with Barcelona.

Ronaldinho, Messi & co, are so lifelike.

It is a hit for me so far, what it lacks in realism it makes up for in fun. Although they should fix the online problems sooner than now.

join a nice little FIFA forum somewhere else, and pollute their forums with your bullshit! know one is forcing you to play it if you don't like it.:realmad:

thats for calling me a retard

You really are an illiterate fucking spaz. It's not bullshit i speak, it's the truth and there are so many respected members on these boards that i have alot of time for who think the same as me about PES2008......although some will disagree with my views on the new FIFA.

Now i am not a FIFA fan by any means, but i am open minded about trying other rival games unlike alot of fanboys and i enjoyed EAs effort a hell of alot more than Konamis this year.

The key word in the PES series is 'Evolution', yet i have not seen a single shread of this in the passed few years from Seabass and his crew of lazy cunts, yet so many people seem satisfied with the new addition to the series. Why, when so little has been added since last years game?! A few extra licenses, a supposedly new AI system called 'TeamVision' which i have yet to notice, a hugely disappointing edit mode (again!), a couple of new stadiums and some shitty tracklist editor with some of those most cringe worthy tunes ever produced.

Is this seriously an acceptable yearly update for all us hardcore fans? Is it fuck!

Forget him Blue, he obviously isn't aware of the amount of time you've spent editing OF's for PES in the last few years!

I do agree with you, and to say the truth the more i play fifa the more i like it, online play is so much fun too, getting the goal in the last min and how hard it is to score goals. This is the best fifa to date and better than this year's PES, so in my opinion, it's the best game of football yet, though it isn't perfect.

The one major thing about this game that is a let down is the n00bs in online play who find it fun to run through any defence with Ronaldinho and co. The other day I picked Newcastle and who did one of those n00bs choose? Yes, Brazil. Fair match indeed. He even waited for me to choose my team as if he was going to have a fair game.

They're so predictable and you can always tell their trying to get the ball too that overrated goofy cunt that is Ronaldinho. They never play lofted passes, ever, not even for goal kicks.

Thats said, it makes the game all the better when you beat cunts like these. As Mat the Cat said its the young teenagers who attempt to cream themselves over the possibilty of scoring the same wonder goal every time who use these tactics.

Play proper football in PES08, and win, its a challenge, but a worthwhile one. Im never ever going to use that stuipid running tactic, ever.

The fact that the n00bs can constantly run through your defence with Ronaldinho is very old-FIFA-esque and is a sign that something is very wrong with this PES.

i usually play with man utd, yesterday some guy wanted to play with leeds so i played with oldham athletic ( a team i never even heard of, but that's just i live outside of the UK ) anyway i hammered the guy 5-0 and every goal was different, i usually play 1-2s and across the wing so that guy paused the game about 3 times to adjust his offside trap which didn't work well as you can see, it was a fun match and i laughed hard because after the third goal he kept tackling me everywhere on the pitch and shooting from halfway line as he couldn't get possession of the ball.

You could just stop playing online gamers like that. If you could look at a gamers history of matches and which teams they've picked before hand then you could steer well clear of them in the first place. You can view your own so why not others? I havn't tried it yet or payed attention to any of those aspects so hopefully we can do it.

Yes , you can view the last 5 teams a player has used online. And as for Ronaldinho all you have to do is set a player to mark him, and then keep on him and he cant get a touch on the ball. Plus if your on PC if you mark him and he tackles you, DIVE! I have had him sent off twice in exibition mode vs my mates ( I was Man U, I dived with Scholes ), the look on a Noobs face when he gets sent off would be priceless. And also dont just run up to him and try to tackle, position yourself to usher him out to the sides where he is less effective and time your tackles. No matter how good a player is, if you time it perfect you can get the ball off anyone.

LOL....yeah...Man Marking works GREAT in PES2008.

In ProEv5, I used AC Milan to crush all the Brazil noobs out of the game and consistently got results against UK and Euro champ, Rob McLean by doing this......But with PES6 and much more so with PES2008, MM means shit and is out the window.

Agreed on PES 6 marking it does suck, but in 08 to me its much improved. I have been using defenders and midfielders with the marking skill and with high balance and defence and it works a treat. You just cant do the noobish "hold X for ever" defensive style of play, you get walked past easily. I always position my players properly for marking, and I always only press X or O to tackle when I am sure I can get the ball.

I havent lossed a game yet in my ML on TP, I have a 30+ game winning streak. I do believe its just because I always set my team up specifically for each opponent and that I play tactically for possetion rather than all out attack 24/7. Im not tooting my own horn here, just expressing my view.

*Edit* If you played PES 4/5 online you probably played me at some point, I always used Roma for PES4 (dunno just worked for me) and Arsenal in PES5 (speed of play). I was prett consistant 50/50 win or loss online, I did loss a few games to the
Man U / 4 strikers set-up till I twigged how to stop it.

Dude...you cant say that just cos something works in the ML against the computer that it will also work 2 player cos the single and multiplayer games (against someone who knows what they are doing) are two entirely different things.

Playing online, I have found that MM sucks cock and always just results in the defender MM the striker but marking him on the wrong side of the goal. PES2008 AI favours attackers big style......any 50/50 that is decided by the AI will always favour attacker!

The most succesful way to defend against the noob-meisters who think they can just run Messi, Henry, Eto'o Ronaldinho straight through your defense is to:

A) Choose a very defensive team (I go AC Milan)

B) Choose a counter attacking formation (5-2-1-2), With two attackers having vertaical attack arrows forcing them out towards the wings

C) Consider the SQUARE button in the sin bin when defending only use very sparingly..Always use the X button to tackle but dont keep it depressed, but tap it rapidly when your defenders are near to the striker.....do hold it down when striker is goal side of defender as this makes defender grab attackers shirt and will slow him down.

D) Learn to use manual passing. When your eventually scramble the noobs mad dribbling mazeys out of the danger area, get the ball out touchline and time long (high or low) manual pass to hit right up the line for your CF's (Kaka on right, Ronaldo on Left) to run onto......the amount of times they will be clean thru is unreal.

I have had a lot of success playing this way and only usually lose when the ball starts teleporting or I am playig some cunt whose PC cant run the fucking game properly which means it runs all fucked up for me also.

Before anyone points the noob finger at me for playing this way, WHAT EXACTLY IS MY ALTERNATIVE........I still score good goals....unlike practically all my opponents.
