Since PES3, there has not been a single PES game that has not had certain unwanted features in it that have served to drive gamers fucking mental.

The latest offering is no different. Although the game is a bit of a let down to many, it cannot be denied that PES 2008 is still an excellent game. However, in addition to the usual menu options (or lack off) issues there are also the usual gameplay issues. This time round they are:

Ease of Dribbling........(why bother passing when u can just run straight through)
Ease of Freekicks (concede one against CPU and they probably will score)
Keeper's spilling balls (gtf outta my face with this shit....this sucks most of all)

And this is on top of all the usual CPU scripting of games (including stoppage time remaining most likely time to score) and the same old defensive AI flaws which means 2 player games inevitably degenerate into exploit goal excercises.

Will Seabass ever get it right or does he do these things on purpose to ensure addicted fans of the series are ever eagerly awaiting next 'super improved' release?

ive got a lot of practice in and you cant just run pass a defender its tougher than that, yeah i can take players on and get past but its not simple to everyone, also freekicks are well balanced so far, hey ive only played the demo but from what i know the full version hasnt changed much from that.

No...sometimes you can.....

When you actually have to navigate through the defense, you cant just run past them.

But when the CPU controlled AI moves your defendersout of the path of the stiker (which happens all the time) its like red carpet treatment towards the goal. In such situations, u have 3 options.

Watch striker run through and hit shot into back of net
Watch striker fire shot straight at the keeper only for the keeper to spill ball inot path of oncoming striker.
Commit foul, get booked/sent-off, and watch helplessly as ur opponent coverts from free-kick.

Excellent playability again but Seabasshole has ensured yet again that there are flaws so bad in the game that it will probs be binned by X-Mas.

Good point. i have always wondered if they make the games fall short on purpose to build anticipation for next year. I haven't played the game yet, but I will no doubt love it, as the issues you mention always bug me but it's like love... I can't stay mad at the game for such things ;) I will still play it a LOT.

Yeah...the playability of the latest offering is immense...better than ever.

But I get a feeling it is going to also be one of the most annoying ever as well.

Ever since the godawful PES4, ProEv has been a bit like having a super plush luxury speedboat with cusioned leather seats, gas fired stove/heater, fridge freezer, but with the catch that it has holes in hull and leaks water. Whenever you want to go boating up the river, you are always gonna be hugely tempted to take out the luxury speeboat rather than the naff (but watertight) crappy rowing boat with lawnmower engine fitted to its rear.

But at end of day, when you are all stressed out from being up to your ankles/knees in water and having to frustratingly make your way back to shore, you may well be thinking that you might be better with the basic but watertight rowing boat (Sensible World of Soccer).

But still, next week and the week after, you will opt for plush luxury option yet again and the frustration just mounts and mounts up.

Dude, you may think this is long winded, but I stopped throwing joysticks around and smashing things up over computer games when I was kid. But PES5 drove me to volley a PS2 across a room (breaking it), snap PC PES5 DVD. And PES 6 drove me to bust several gamepads; throw a chair through a door, and of course I snapped the DVD before X-mas and have barely played the game since.

I trust this time around I will have the resolve to simply stop playing the game when Seabasshole's latest batch of intentional gremlins start prodding me up the arse with their sharp pointy sticks.

So I hope he will recruit new people

So you didn't stop throwing joysticks around and smashing things up over computer games at all....

Before PES5, the last joypad i smashed was a SNES gamepad when I was 17......(I am now 31)

With PES5, I actually went a step further and destroyed a whole console.

it was one of these games where the AI is scripting that my online opponent will win so no matter what I do, The Ai will not let me score (have never been keen on exploit goals) even though i am dominating him yet everytime he gets forward he gets east goal and then continually taunts me with such delightful preset phrases as:

You are F*****g s**T
I Raped your mum.
F**k U U F*****g Asshole

etc.

PES 6 was even more horrible for lame goals and scripted matches but I mananged at least to not destroy the PS2 (the new one I had to buy)

I've certainly suffered from that many a time.

But seriously, if you're 31, you shouldn't get that angry at a computer game? Unless you turn green and rampage.... Was anyone with you at the time?

nope...I was on my own when I volleyed my PS2 across the room.....but I had an audience when I threw the chair through the door after conceding yet another totally predicted and scripted stoppage time cut-back playing online. (I predicted to my mate that it was on the cards....u just knew when your defenders all of a sudden ceased to be capable of passing the ball out to your midfielders feet)

But that is my point. I play a lot of computer games including the uber-excellent but hugely agonising online shooter, BF2. The worst reaction that brings out of me is either slamming my fist down on armchair or pulling power cable out of PC.

Its only ProEv that drives me to start trashing things.

You seem to do all the thinkgs that I think of when I get angry

Seriously though, it could be rather expensive to get that physical with a PS3? Have you actually got anger problems? Maybe you should go and get checked out...

- "what seems to be the problem"
- "pro evolution soccer"
- "ah yes, say no more. We get that a lot, tell me, is it just chair throwing or does it go as far as volleying your console through the door and pulling your shirt over your face as if to celebrate a goal?"

Fortunately, I dont own a PS3, i will be mostly playing ProEv on £1500 worth of gaming PC.

PS3 right now is expensive white elephant and by the time games developers actually figure out how to use Sony's hugely complex and powerful hardware, PS3 will probs be retailing for about £150. I will get one then. I have no doubt that it is the console of the future and that it will come good in the end, but until then, PS3 gamers are playing 2nd rate XBOX360 games.

At 30+ you'd expect a little more maturity...

However, i'm nearly 34 and in the last 2 PES's can count 4 broken controllers due to frustration (3 just on PES 6!!).

Can never remember it happening before PES 5 mind you...

does the game still have those corners you can't defend, where no matter how many times you hit L1 it won't let you control a player in your box. That fucking winds me right up, 90% of the time they score from them because you can't get a defender in position to clear it.
