I used to play on a normal tv (sdtv) and I had some slowdown problems but not as much as some people say. Now I'm playing on an HDtv (the game is still without patches) and the slowdowns and lags decreased.

^Yeah I felt the same way. I think pes 5 showed the player's skill instead of luck and also pes 5 had the best defnding but the attacking was a bit poor.

I kinda thought your saying is a bit weird though, if the attacking is poor, its obvious that the defense is better, its because its better to defend that the attack play feels a little bit hard/not good.

Is it the same case in PES 2008? Where the attacking part is somewhat better to control thus its harder to defend? Just a food for thought ;)

I meant that pes5 had the balance between attack and defense right, but it also had a problem with the attack, but if you're good then you'll score. This is not the case with pes 6 and 2008. They are based mostly on attacks and their defense is not good. I prefer the pes 5 style of game.

PES5 was the one that had the empty stadium glitch right? I loved that game. Defending was an art on that one.

PES 5 was awesome if they go back more to that style it would be good, PES 08 defensivley is ridiculous, positioning is all wrong, one thing about PES5 i neva got was scoring, id have 15-20 shots on target and score 1 or 2, my players had good ratings but always baloon it over...

was that just me or was i difficult for all?

You know, for some reason I haven't played PES5 since I got PES6.. and now that I think about it, I think PES5 was more enjoyable than PES6 (from what I can remember). Maybe PES5 was too fast, but for some reason it was better, probably because it had better defensive play.

In pes2008 shooting is also a skill, so just pressing square aint enough, you have to be at the right angle, have enough space, takes a little more thought!

^Well yes that's true but in the end it depends on the team you're playing with and the team you're playing against. It's useless playing with a lower level team because you'll loose as your shots will be weak and since pace is such important in pes 2008 you'll loose every part of the game. It's useless having good skills if you're playing with a lower level team against teams like Barcelona since pace is such important and that's the biggest mistake of the game.

nothng is more boring than 'not' being a 'big' team on that game. annoying thing is you like have to be a major team to even prpoerly enjoy the gameplay.

Not really, playing with lower class teams is depending on how you play, if youre playing with a lower class team and play like you play using Barcelona, then yes, its hard and theres a great chance you'll lose. I always use Man Utd, but once in a while I like playing using lower class teams against my friends who always uses
Chelsea and beat me when I use Man Utd. I got to say, its diff, I can even beat him using lower class teams, i.e Sporting, Newcastle, or Celtic. Its the way you play that counts. But one thing for sure though, I still dont like the way Luca Toni always gets the header in game, even if I defend it with Rio Ferdinand, its soooo ridiculous! Hell even Rio can still defend Jan Koller, why not Toni????

^Italian players are underrated while English players are overrated (not all of them). I agree with what you're saying but luck plays the biggest part unlike pes 5.

I personally am not concerned about how it looks.
PES2008 looked good. It's just the AI, player physicals and general movement that was poor.
I don't think it needs to start looking better already.
As long as there is better AI and the players are not skating all over the place or solo-runs/dribbling with mediocre players such as Finnan I'm good.

XBox 360 PES 2008 > PS3 PES 2008

That is just a fact that I doubt anyone who has played both can argue with. The game is the same, just the PS3 suffers terrible lag issues especially when played on a SD TV.

You shouldn't be running the PS3 on a SD TV thats just silly talk!!

I couldn't agree more. There is nothing more frustrating than your CB's becoming confused and both running to one area leaving a massive space behind them. Along with the fact everytime the AI gets the ball, they're capable of producing 25+ sidesteps and tricks, combined with a 30 yard dribble. It's just damn impossible, especially from shit players.
