i just played 10v10.

EA servers are backup and... just wow... it was pretty great.

Spain vs. Argentina.. we won 6-1 haha. excellent match. their defenders sucked. i was RB and played like a god :D. made lots of last ditch tackles after our 2CBs got sent off... yes down to 9 men. lol. 10v10 just rly brings a lot more spirit into the game. its actually making me want to get my headset out from the one year-old box and start playing. Played against utd on legendary and found it hard which is good since I don't want an easy game. :D

I'd still rather play in a PES tournament than FIFA2009 10v10... but thats presuming the PES gameplay is lagless, faultless and topnotch.

Actually, if we want this years best game, you'd want:

The Gameplay of FIFA
The Licencing of FIFA & PES
The Graphics of FIFA
The Audio of FIFA
The effort on the faces of PES

They have honestly dropped the ball big time!

Nobody can deny the fact that Fifa has made a hell of a lot of improvement the last 2 years. I bought FIFA09 and can honestly say it is a very good game, I'm really looking forward to PES09, but if it turns out a dissapointment like last year, I won't buy a PES game for a couple of years. I simply can't believe that for the last 12 months Konami only made a slight graphical update, and got rid of the most flaws that were evident in PES08. Only added 5 or something stadiums? WTF? Fifa has 46 stadiums this year.

I always hated the fact in PES09 that you can run around with one player in the box turning 180 degrees untill you have enough space, that isn't realistic at all, and there is no way you can do that in FIFA. Both FIFA and PES has very good things in their games, but if you look at the effort being put in by EA compared to Konami, then Fifa will prevail king sooner rather than later. FIFA isn't perfect, but if you read these forums neither is PES. I think once the final version of PES09 is released a lot of us are going to end up dissapointed, whether its immediate or after a month or two. It's once again same old, same old for PES, same engine, same hiccups etc. Fifa has it's hiccups as well, but FIFA09 plays a damn good game of football.

You never seen Ibrahimovic during his Ajax days?? some of his goals were amazing for them weaving in and around the box waiting for a shooting chance, some players can do it others cant.

^Excactly. Pes 09 is a great game. No matter what game is released, someone will always say something bad about it. Get over it. Nothing's perfect. But pes 09 is surley one of the best pes ever. I think it has the potential to be the best.

running up and down the edge of the box turning 180 degrees for up to 4/5 times, post a video of ANY real player doing that and I'll believe you. I'm not saying nobody is weaving around the box waiting for a scoring chance, but not running up and down like a moron with 5 defenders running afterwards as if the striker has food in his pants. you can slate me as a fifa fanboy if you want, but fifa09 is the first fifa i bought in more than 10 years, and I've been playing pes since ps1 days. Konami has shot themselves in the foot, they are going backwards at the moment, trying to reach past glory days while ea is looking forward and keep on improving. I'm pretty sure everybody on this site slating fifa hasn't even think of giving fifa a fair objective chance, and just look for flaws etc.

Just as you, i really hope PES09 is a brilliant game, but at the moment if it comes out and dissapoints, i won't be sad playing fifa09 the next year as it is a very decent football game!

Dude, FIFA09 stills is Not as good as PES5 or PES6.

Try it sometime.. play FIFA09 for an hour or so -and- then play PES6.

FACT is that EA Sports still hasn't managed to produce a game as good as PES5.

You're making a HUGE deal out of FIFA09 -and- what's so great about it??

Yeah, but the thing is that Konami has not elaborated on that approach..

If they wanted to make it more Realistic -then- they should have introduced New elements into the game. For example having something like an in-game "Confidence Level" gauge -or- having another thing to determine How predictable or Unpredictable each player is.

Yes it happens in real life, some players DO have the ability to do that -BUT- they don't do it 10 to 15 times per match, because doing so would make them Predictable. It's all about being cunning, knowing WHEN and HOW to do things properly.

Another player who used to "weave" around the Goal area was Pele, he could do it 3 or 5 times in a match -and- usually those Individual touches of brilliance ended in Goals.

I just think doing it 10 to 15 Times per game -with- any Skillful player -is- Unrealistic and Repetitive. One of the things that I find Boring about PES6 -and- one of the things I hope they improve on in the near future.

Well I did last night when I was deciding if my critisism of PES 2009 was justified...

...it was!

Okay, I started off with 2 games of PES 2009...

Moved on to PES 6, kept playing it for about an hour or so when it was meant to be 2 matches. Then moved onto FIFA 09 and kept going at that for around the same ammount of time.

The thing is that PES 6 if not for it not being well more than out of date would be an actual competitor, however it isn't.

What's good about FIFA 09 you ask:

I'll list somethings, and then some bad things:
-Keepers aren't Godlike, but Human!
-The play is smooth, movements are fluid and collisions are realistic
-Strength of a player and size is taken into account, no more Messi shoving Kazmierczak off the ball!
-The passing is realistic
-The ball physics are realistic, not flat like PES 2009
-Long Balls and through balls (such as seen in the Championship, as annoying as it is) are actually effective as players are realistic in the air
-Shooting is great, outside of the foot to the back post can actually be effective, defenders pressuring makes shots harder, free space on the edge of the box will be punished... that sort of thing
-Player movements are brilliant (the best of any football game!), late runs, overlapping fullbacks, defenders covering out wide
-The defense can actually defend, even on the wings (something PES has lost), the center-halves covering again
-Licencing
-Stadiums
-The amazing graphics
-Weather effects
-Derby are in it!
-And much much more

Then the things I hate:
-The glitch were advantage get's called back in a scoring position...
-The lack of effort on some player faces
-Some of Serie A not being licensed
-The fact that the overall ratings for Paul Green and Miles Addison are 62 and 58 respectively
-The fact it took EA a decade to make a good game and not just one that beat the shitheap that was PES 2008!

I'm dissapointed that Konami haven't actually made any innovations onto of ruining their game for 2 years straight!

I can't quite understand why you bother to post on a PES forum when all you do is slate the game. Just about every thread I go into, you have in one way or another, hijacked it to sing the praises of FIFA and bad mouth PES.

Are you on the EA payroll or something?

I have FIFA09, but haven't noticed any serie a teams not being licensed, what serie a teams are not licensed?

I know people are complaining about the inter strip, but David Rutter (producer of FIFA09) said that is the strip they got from inter.

Because I've loved every PES game up until 2008 and the demo for 2009, and I'm really worried that Konami are just living off of the game's reputation and not inovation or in fact making a good enough game any more!

Also, I wished someone would pay me to take on forums, I could quit my day job!

Napoli, Cagliari, Palermo... There are about 6 of them I think, maybe a couple more. They have the real players, but the badges and kits are wrong.

Didn't hear about the inter strip...

I don't care, the only kit issue with Derby is that the socks say DOFC instead of DCFC...

having played ever fifa since 94 i have to say this years is by far the best they have finally taken pro's ideas and used them to great effect but it lacks the fluidly of pro
and until they sort that out pro will still be number 1
but fifa is trying to match pro for a sim can only be a good thing
but anyone suggesting fifa isnt getting close to pro is lacking a brain cell in my opinion and this fifa is the shot in the arm for pro to get thier finger out and with the online capabilities fifa has maybe its time pro took a leaf out of fifa for a change

viva pro 2009
