I'm really disapointed with the online aspect of the game. Very very hard to defend as players seem to do what you want them to do and its very frustrating. I really like the game though much better than last year. Does anyone know if konami/sony are trying to sort the online out. I'm die hard pes and havent even youched fifa since 2000 but tempted to try if the online dosent improve.

same here really, i'm glad the lag is all but gone, but like yourself and many others i too have found the online to play different than the game does offline, especially with like you say defending.

i am also die hard pes, but tried fifa and loved ther online.
i still play pes online tho so obvs dont give up on it
s'up to you pal

My friend, if you enjoy pro for the same reason i do, I.e. Fluid gameplay. outstanding player models, realistic build up action, then you will have no trouble in loving PES 2009.

that's good to hear because all these comments are making me understand again why i bought FIFA last year. i thought i'd be missing out on something great because everyone was saying how great it was and how bad PES was.
in the end when i got PES08 i just couldn't put FIFA08 in my PS3 again so in the end i think it comes down to taste and the amount of effort you want to spent on your game i think.
defenders leaving their positions,....goalkeepers not holding on to shots,....pace of the game too much....... shooting too difficult.....shooting too simple.......goalkeepers have improved this year,....graphics suck,.....the graphics are unbelievable, all these comments really make you understand that everyone has his or her own oppinion so the only way u will know which group u support is when u've got the game and can make up your own mind.
but in all honesty i just can't believe that FIFA BEATS PES this year in the gameplay department because having played both demo's i can tell you that i thought FIFA sucked big time so unless the final game is nothing like the demo i'm really wondering what some of you are smoking.
let me get this of my chest also..... defenders will always leave their positions and depending on their statts it will happen less or more, u have too notice this in time and correct this or overlapp another defender to cover that gapp...u are at the same time the coach, the captain and every single player in the team so get used to it because it's programmed that way because if it wasn't you wouldn't be able to score also.
the keepers suck they knock alot of shots down to the unrushing attackers........well it happens in real life too so stop whining and start defending in such a way that taking the shot is difficult in the first place.
did u see what happened today with RONALDO'S freekick ( MANU vs CELTIC in the CL )the CELTIC keeper knocked it down almost just infront of ROONEY of all people.
The game is too fast......... well then u don't watch real football my friend nor do u play in a real competition because the pace went up alot over the past few years and alot of teams have adapted to the ENGLISH style of play and altough i must admit the pace of LA LIGA is much more atractive the mix of them both is just stunning just watch ARSENAL in action and you will know what i mean.
in PES u can play how u like as does ur opponent and if he uses the pace u will have to defend like a pro and choose ur positions wisely and when a fast player blows past one of ur defenders don't try catching up with the same defender if u have another one in a better position.

This is why when u start giving ur impression about PES games veteran gamers always like too know how long u've been playing the KONAMI footballing series because then they know if they can continue reading and if you oppinion deserves attention.
well in the future i think they should go a step further in asking if u've ever really played football because when it comes too judging and understanding why most real football players like PES u must or atleast must've played the game in real life.
that's the only reason why for most of us all those licenses don't mean sh***. and all those things u call flaws we call football.

Im Done!

This game is utter rubbish. what has going on with konami have they lost it. i have never brought FIFA and don't intend on starting but i can not play this SH*t any more. What has happened to the gameplay, the movement the feel the soul of pes its all gone and to be honest im done with pes. so its no football game for me until either konami or another company bring out a game that represents football for what it is. I can't believe with the whole next gen thing that we see this as acceptable. i did not spend however much on a ps3 just for me to then want to pick up my ps2 controller to play pes 6. its crazy. Anyway Im DONE!

Pes 09 is amazing... the more you play it the better you get as a player and the better the game gets.

I've played FIFA 09, and I'm sick of all these people on here moaning about Pes09 saying FIFA09 is better.... I've played the new Fifa.... its shit.... its not my opinion its a fact. The players all feel the same except the top players are faster then others...the gameplay is just no where near as fun or even more importantly rewarding then PES 09's great gameplay, yes FIFA has got all the licenses and to be fair better graphics... but is that what football, 'the beautiful game' is about how, 'beautiful' the kits are....I don't think so, its about the depth and beauty of football itself and thats why PES is, has been and probably always will be the best football game about because it just 'feels' like football.

Sorry for the rant... but these people saying this FIFA is better are annoying me, because it made 'so much progression' blah blah... progression from absolutely shit to average.... PES is near perfection in the way it represents football you can't really progress too much from perfection or near perfection.

Although i like it this game is not on the same level of realism as say pes 4 or 5.
And one thing thats lost is the way in the past games when you played with say arsenal it actually felt like you were playing with them for real. Each team and player was highly detailed and almost was a perfect replica of the real team.
That was the magic of pes and why none of us gave shit about licences etc.

This game has to much of 2008 in it.

i would like to just say that it took 8 years for PES to peek on ps2 coming from ps1 models...soo as with any upgrade of consoles, it takes time for most games developers to really max the power of the console..each year they get better as the the more they understand the physics of 'future' gaming..

with ps3 there was way more expectations than with ps2, people expected instantaneous super games...graphics are always the first thing that improves then bit by bit games improve the overall feel and play..

as with any kind of evolution of development its only time that can control how good and how much we see..but by now it should be better..!!

So Konami just need to try/think harder/longer and at least fix problems before they introduce new ones...

i predict that Konami do have the genius to once again offer real players no choice when it comes to football gaming..

but for 2010 im sure more people (including me) will now be looking a 2 games before buying...i feel that both fifa and pes are moving in the right directions (forward) some faster than others..!!

thats right..when you played 2 spainish teams it felt like a game from la liga.. boco against river plate was always a great game for brazilian fans..the same goes for national teams etc

Boca juniors and River Plate are from Argentina :)

The game is good no doubt about it, and there's ALLOT that can be improved. Most of which can maybe be fixed with a patch, or option file. The other bits, well... Next release maybe? I will still buy the next release, because I can. I'm not bothered about 15 quid as I've wasted allot more on other games that ain't even been opened yet.

Personally i'm really split between Pro Evo and Fifa at the moment, and it's destroying my life. It's like i'm having a dirty affair with Fifa and just can't pull myself away Pro Evo, as much as i love her, has let herself go a bit of late. The only answer is to do my best to try and work things out with Pro Evo, but if it doesn't happen i'm going to have to leave her for that dirty slut Fifa, who has been working hard to better herself in recent times, and is now pretty fit.
