LOL, this is why Pes has been shit for the last two years, because people will spend hard earned money on rubbish simply because of the name.

Move on.

The last 2 versions were horrible, if they dont get it sorted, they are done.

^Some fifa fans are the same ;)
I have both fifa and pes, and personally I like them both.

Cool, im very positive about pes this year, gut feeling tells me you guys are gonna get a far better game than the last 2 years.

But like i always say, we shouldnt have to hope they are gonna take on feedback.

There should be a feedback forum on this site, one of them needs to drag their ass down on here, and take note, because right now they havent got a clue. Personally I dont give a shit about the graphics, i want the gameplay sorted.

Master league is still more compelling than manager mode on fifa, ive played a few seasons now and I do miss master league a little, but here's the deal. I already know EA are gonna change the manager mode for the next game, because they have taken note of the feedback they have received on it, they cant change everything this year, but we've been told most of the glitches, AI issues and transfer issues will be sorted for next year.

With Konami its a guessing and hoping game.

Konami: "We aim to make PES 2010 a more user-friendly, immediate experience that places the emphasis on getting straight into the gameplay for which the series is famed. PES 2010 will look better, will play better, and will recreate real football as closely as the current hardware will allow."
----------------------------------------------------

It sounds like Konami have a lot of confidence in PES 2010. Hopefully this is a good thing.

But I do find that quote hard to believe. How can you "recreate real football as closely as the current hardware will allow" and at the same time also achieve "a more user-friendly" experience.

Personally, all I want is a Realistic Football Simulation... which is Why I think PES5 still is better than either PES09 or FIFA09.

But PES5 isn't the most "user-friendly" game. I think recreating "real football as closely as the current hardware will allow" is a positive thing and most hardcore PES fans must be relieved about (at least) hearing that from none-other than Konami.

But user-friendly?? Real Football as closely as the current hardware will allow? Somehow that doesn't makes sense to me, a Next Gen Console should be capable of a more realistic and challenging game than PES5. And PES5 is not "user-friendly".

The gameplay "for which the series is famed" was never known to be "user-friendly".

FIFA was "user-friendly" and PES was the more realistic and challenging simulation. I can only hope that Konami doesn't gives us another Arcade Goal Fest like PES09.

Jesus Christ, will you stop with your constant referral to PES5!!

I really, really hope you don't get that position everyone is raving for you to get.

Your posts are so mind-numbingly boring! I'm sick of hearing about PES5 and your rant about watching old world cups and how your better than professionals is plain ridiculous.

If you are a true football fan then you grow up with football and know about the games greatest players without having to backtrack and research them.

And the way you talk about how good a footballer you are, like you can walk into any football teams starting XI is so hard to take seriously. I know 2 footballers. One plays in the Scottish Second division and one in the Premiership, the difference is vast. Even more vast is the difference between the Scottish Second Division players and me and my friends who are all good in our own rights.

Amatuer, seriously now, PES5 is not better than FIFA 09, different times, the game has moved on, the football is far more realistic in fifa, PES5 for its time was outstanding, but it cant stand up to a proper next gen game, I know this, because i stuck it in the ps2 the other day to relive some memories.

The days of pressing X and the CPU doing the rest are over, trust me and if Konami think they can release some pes 5 type shit this year and have a chance against FIFA, they must be smoking crack. I want midfield battle and much much more control of my players (which i already get in fifa 09)

It needs complete revolution.

In my opinion, PES5 is better than FIFA09, as simple as that.

I can understand you have a different opinion.

And as far as Opinions go, some people think that PES09 is better than FIFA09. It's all about opinions, you cannot say that "FIFA09 is better than PES5" like if it was reality or fact.

* Midfield battle -- of course, it's only realistic and should be part of the game.

* One-Second Delay in everything you do -- Boring and Unrealistic.

It depends on how you see it... in my case, I just cannot get past the fact that FIFA lacks Responsiveness. I don't like a 1-second delayed game. Time is Key in Football, and in my opinion that isn't reflected in FIFA09.

I feel no thrill in the Last Third of the Pitch, everything about FIFA09 gets predictable and repetitive -- if you call that "more realistic" that's your opinion.

FIFA09 feels and looks better. But as a "Simulation" I think PES5 is more accurate: as far as I'm concerned FIFA still lacks Responsiveness and thrill and Unpredictability.

As for "PES5 for its time was outstanding, but it cant stand up to a proper next gen game".

I have been saying that since last year, I have probably repeated the same thing more than anyone else... but funnily enough, if I could choose between FIFA09 or PES5 with Next Gen Graphics - I would take PES5 with Next Gen Graphics.

Anyways...

Both PES09 and FIFA09 are well out of date, in my opinion.

You don't even know me, you have not even seen me playing Football, and I have no idea as to WHY you are so aggressive towards myself.

I said "that I can dribble past a professional defender with relative ease" -and- I only said that ONCE. And it is true, otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered telling something like that.

The FACT that I can dribble past professional players with ease does NOT means that I can dribble past Rio Ferdinand -- Some people in this forum really need to grow up.

Football requires all kinds of skills and effort, it isn't only about "dribbling past defenders".

Imo PES 6 kickes PES 5's ass. PES 6 has been the highlight of the series. The only thing that PES 5 had going for it was long range shooting. Other than that it was frustrating as the defenders seemed to magicly block all my shots and tackle me from impossible possitions.

Both PES5 and PES6 have their negatives and positives.

I like both of them, but I think PES6 went a bit too arcade-like for my taste. You have too much advantage as an attacker. And Pace is a bit overrated.

But as a positive I feel more in-control of things when I play PES6. And the Play in the Final Third and Inside the Penalty Area is better in PES6. It haves more thrill and responsiveness.

On the other hand...

PES5 is a more "realistic simulation". It haves better Player Likenesses in my opinion, and it forces you into playing "collectively" like in real-life. The balance between Defenders and Attackers seems to be better and more realistic.

PES5 is also the game that best depicts the difference between "Dribbling Slowly" and "Sprinting with the Ball". When you Dribbled Slowly you had more control over the ball. Whereas on the other hand, when you Sprinted with the ball you had less control over the ball.

This prevented players from basically running the entire length of the field with the ball at their feet. PES5 forced you into passing the ball, because "Nobody can travel faster than the ball".

Negatives??

* The play when Inside the Penalty Area lacks something, it's too slow in this area.

* The Final Third feels a bit too long.

* It forced you into playing One Type of Football. It didn't allowed the same freedom as PES6.

* Shooting and Finishing was a bit one-dimensional. PES6 and PES09 are better in this are.

Overall I like both games and it depends on my mood... when I want a more realistic simulation with better midfield play I go for PES5. And when I want more responsiveness and thrill I go for PES6.

Anyways, I think PES5 and PES6 are better than PES09.

Didnt they base 2009 on PES 5 saying about how they're going back to the roots etc. I just want the goal mouth action back in the final third. Shooting in 2008/09 has been horrendous. They have about 5 different places where the ball can go when you shoot. Its like playing Fifa 05 or somin where all shots look the same. In PES 6 there were tonnes of places the ball could go when it left your foot and it was possible to score a long ranger if you had time and space and the ball would just fly in. Now the ball seems too slow in the air in shooting.

The problem with PES09 is that it never Feels right. It is supposed to be based on PES5 -and- yet "player likenesses" are worst than ever.

PES5 was all about "player likenesses". Gattuso was better at winning the ball, Zidane gave accurate passes when under pressure, Beckham gave the best crosses, etc, etc...

The "player differences" are nowhere to be found in PES09. It doesn't plays like PES5. The only similarities are:

* The Final Third of the Pitch seems to "stretch". At times it feels never-ending.

* Play Inside the Penalty Area also lacks something.

As Positive:

* One-on-one challenges in PES09 feel less Assisted by the COM. Unlike PES5, it never feels like the COM decided the outcome of every single one-on-one challenge.

* But as a Negative, Defenders do not have the "tools" required to defend against attackers.

As for PES5 vs PES6.

The thing about PES6 is that although the balance between attackers and defenders doesn't appears to be as realistic as PES5. It gives you more control and freedom.

In PES5 it sometimes feels like a "yes" or "no" thing that is completely decided by the COM. Sometimes I get through Defenders and sometimes I don't -BUT- most of the time I really don't know why I got past a defender.

At times it feels like the COM haves complete control of that, as defenders win one-on-one challenges no matter what you do.

On the other hand...

With PES6 the balance between defenders and attackers doesn't appears to be as realistic or as good. But it rarely feels like the COM decides every outcome, you feel more in-control of everything when you play PES6.

PES6 demands more skills, one-on-one challenges are more about skills -and- less about magic tackles and whatever stunt the COM can pull off.

But as a Negative, PES6 doesn't feels as fluid and life-like as PES5.

If only Konami could give us:

* The realistic Midfield Play of PES5.

* With the Unpredictable and Thrilling "Final Third" play of PES6.

* The fluid and life-like movements of PES5.

* With the better and more responsive off-the-ball movement of PES6.

I agree and i conclude that its all down to annimation. Annimation is basically the mother of individuality in PES and is what seperates Beckam from Torres (who is rediculously slow!?). There isnt enough annimation to have different kicking styles etc so beckham doesnt feel any different and there arent many (if any atall) sprint annimations so Torres runs and turns like everyone else. Past pes's have had it spot on but today the lack of annimation is the reason why everyone is so mundane and similar.

What excited me about PES 2010 is that there is a giant push towards an annimation overhaul which is as good as saying "The good days are coming back" as that is (in gameplay terms) the only thing that has gone missing. Shooting, defending etc have all become worse if not out right shit but their demise lies in the lack of annimation which we now know is coming next year and with that the gameplay we loved and lost.

I think you need to move on, PES 5 doesnt cut it in this day and age, you really want the CPU to control everything for you? You wanna press a button and hope the ball goes where you want it to go, or make the ball go where you want it go?

I played it the other day, possession is horribly easy, no thought required, I just keep pressing X without worrying about weight of the pass or anything, game gives you nowhere near the same options during the game compared to fifa 09. In short.

Passing- Fifa easily.
Shooting-Fifa easily (if you turn it off assisted)
Through balls- Fifa
AI difficulty- Fifa
Tactical options -Fifa
Defense-Fifa

There's no thrill anymore in PES5, I can take ronaldo and run through about 3 players and nail it in the bottom corner, no midfield battles, passing is piss easy, but its an old game now so that is to be expected.

All im trying to say is, football games have moved on, PES is easy and pick up and play because it doesnt give you enough control to make mistakes and get punished, I would fucking spank PES now other than for the AI cheating, because i wouldnt even have to think about passing or timing or passing around players its just end to end action.

I know your the self appointed spokesperson for the changes that need to be made in PES, but you need to accept times have moved on, pes of old doesnt cut it, Pes now doesnt cut, it lacks innovation

New ideas and greater control placed in the hands of the player are what makes great games, Pes has been the same game with a few tweaks for year and years.

Years ago, the shooting powerbar was a big thing, Now, no one cares, the games have to move on. Fifa took it a step further and made it work for passing and
penalties (which pes 2010 is now implementing). Thats just a little example.

So in my opinion pes5 with next generation graphics does fuck all for PES, why the fuck would any person with an IQ above 90, choose 8 directional passing and movement and cpu automated controls, when they can go and buy a proper next gen game, with more teams, more players, less time needed to edit because everything is pretty much official, more expansive gameplay, the option to use 100% manual controls, and a better AI.

And i have to add again, PROPER MIDFIELD BATTLES, not end to end crap where i can take a quick player and get to the opposition penalty area in about 3 seconds.

Your not the only one with ideas for pes 2010, your just one of the only people who can actually be arsed to type this shit on a forum konami arent even going to take note of, waste of time imo, they dont care what you think, or I think, or what anyone thinks, the last 2 years are obvious about that.

Lets be honest, fifa is a challenge, you cant get away with the 'running to the byline and cutting back' crap you could constantly use in pes, or taking eto and running through entire defences, it forces you to think before you play football, which pes 5 doesnt.

I mean, you can't even place shots properly in pes 5, that was introduced in pes 6, with the placement button. Come on now.

PES 5, great for its time, but outdated.

I think the game will be better this year. But you gotta do a hell of alot of hoping and taking their word for it.

Straight up FIFA10 hasnt even been announced yet, but the EA reps have come out and assured people the majority of bugs from 09 will be removed, the high defensive line which means you can get in over the top of the defence is being looked at. I also know they are looking to expand the passing possibilities again this year, they are a look at flick passes, they are thinking of doing a button for flick passes or making them incidental, AI changes will hopefull be made also. Manger mode will hopefully get an overhaul and they have said they are going to try and improve in game atmosphere amongst other things.

I know this because one of them came on the forum and said this, then asked people questions on how they play.

I havent seen konami do this yet.

I do think PES 2010 will be better than 2009, however I doubt wether they can make up all this lost ground in one whole year. Maybe they have been waiting on 2010 for sometime who knows, its very difficult for Konami and EA to create a near perfect game in one year, the EA rep said they wont be able to improve everything they want to for fifa this year due to time constraints and will work on it straight away next year. Im sure konami are the same.
