BELIEVE
Probably just had my favourite fight thus far.

Picture the scene, the fight is over, blood all over the canvas. Shogun's left eye is closed shut through swelling, with 2 huge cuts nearby. Chuck Liddell's left ribs bright red through bruising, accompanied also by 2 huge cuts to his right cheekbone.

After a very tight and close 1st Round, in which both competitors analysed their opponents. Niether went in swinging ferociously, instead picking intelligent combos. Shogun favouring right leg kicks to the left side of Chuck Liddell's abdomen. A close round to call, and even if pushed, a draw it would be.

Re-entering the battle, the 2nd Round explodes. Combinations of punches and kicks reign in from both Chuck and Shogun, both taking hits to the face and abdomen. Think Stephan Bonnar vs. Forrest Griffin from The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 Finale. The winner of these back and forth exchanges ? Chuck Liddell. After a brief pause, Shogun attempts his favoured right leg kick, to which Chuck spots and throws in a left Superman punch sending Shogun clean onto the canvas. Somehow, Rua manages to escape any form of TKO. Only moments later after both are standing, the blows reign in yet again, especially in the close encounter in which elbows are profusely thrown. This time it's Chuck who falls back after a right leg kick to the already bruised abdomen. Somehow, Chuck manages to survive a potential TKO. 2nd Round over, both men brutally beaten, bloody and fast running out of gas.

The 3rd Round begins where the 2nd left off. Blow after blow. Chuck's stamina is being hit the hardest though as he shuffles around the ocatgon. Shogun capitalises with brutal kicks again to his opponent's abdomen, Chuck falls down clutching his ribcage in sheer agony. Rua spots his opening, standing over a defenceless Chuck Liddell, repeatedly swinging down hit after hit. The Iceman's defence collapses after just 2 punches, still the referee's delayed stoppage has to be questioned after a total of 6 further punches reigned down on Chuck's skull. Fight over. Picture the scene, the fight is over, blood stains every corner of the octagon canvas. Both competitors' faces red through swelling, black through bruising, with each sporting numerous worrying cuts. Shogun's hand is raised in victory.

Funny of you to say Hunter about the fight not being stopped.

Last fight I had I threw a punch with Chuck and it connected sweetly and Shogun went down Big Time....I ran in and Shogun was on the ground still knocked out and still in the fetal position but the Ref hadnt stopped it, I proceded to step in and thats when Shogun regained himself before I rained in the punches, after about 3 seconds of pounding the ref finally stepped in.

I'm useless on the ground, but I think I'm pretty decent standing up. I move around pretty quickly and get in some sneaky hits and counters.

I've the ground game off to perfection now but it took a while, self and minof really got to grips with it last night, this game has loads in it but I'd say I've put down about 20-30 hours of play now already it's just that good.

With the exception of mariokart I can honestly say that I haven't truly enjoyed a game like this in a very long time.

Spot on mate.

I must have put in about 20 hours as well, I'll be sticking it up to Expert level in the next day or so now. I can't say I'm amazing at the ground game because I'm not, I'm decent enough though. My speciality has to be kicks, last match I knocked Chuck out with a perfect flurry of kicks, all landing heavily. I first hit with a low kick with my right leg, followed immediately by a high right leg kick, and then a right kick to Chuck's abdomen. As Liddell hunched down slightly after the abdomen kick, I threw the left high kick and caught him square in the jaw with my shin. This game never ceases to amaze me.

Not bad... not bad at all! I thought the transitions/grapple/strike control config might be a bit complex, but it's actually pretty damn intuitive.

Me + Chuck's spinning back-fist = bloodshed!

You can change that Me to Everyone mate.....its a difference maker alright and once caught its lights out.
I usually use Chuck but since we nailed the ground game its very dangerous going down there with Rua, its suicide. :erm:

I can see this game getting ultra serious online so I think I'll be signing up xbox live for it in the long term. At the minute I'm still running off the free trial you get with the yoke when you buy it. Got the Box Xmas and virtually didn't turn it on upto now and activated the account to download the demo, like I said I only got the console for this game. :p

Did I hear xbox live is lag free and plays perfect?

Lag free is a bit bold, but in general Xbox Live is very good. It does depend on the game you're playing online though. For example, COD plays perfectly online, whilst PES2009 is pretty much unplayable a lot of the time. That's obviously more Konami's fault though.

Did anyone watch the actual fight by the way? It was quite brutal on Chuck's behalf.

I think we might see chuck one more time if we're lucky, it's true what they say about getting KO'd too many times, it does take it's toll.

Who'd like to see chuck V Randy one more time in a legend match? :w00t

Chuck wouldn't hesitate at another fight. But its just his physical condition after all these KOs he's received.

Also, Dana White the president, is he basically the promoter/fight organiser?

i wouldn't be surprised with ufc 100 comping up.

had the demo since it came out, am getting better at it, the ground stuffs still catches me now and again but its worth it to get some spectacular KOs.

Wait...
I can beat Liddell everyother fight with Shogun on advanced, even when keeping it standing. Fighting Shogun on the other hand is frustrating, I can never get up once he gets me down so I spend most of the round on the ground wiggling the right stick frantically to no avail. I really need to learn the ground game properly. Can't wait for the full game.

Aye, I know the feeling. I'm slowly getting tired of being made to tap out. It doesn't seem to matter how fast i spin the bloody stick. maybe it's my swivel technique, I dunno...

I thought it was direction I was turning the stick, it didnt really matter by the time I realised, Chuck had tapped.
