You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I've found that the best way to test a game's AI is by watching a match between two computer opponents. I've done this in the last 2 FIFA games and it's been literally un-watchable. The players have no idea what to do without you controlling the ball carrier, attacks lead nowhere, it's not at all like real football. In PES 09 players pass along the ground and make a slow buildup up the pitch, in my opinion it was great, the biggest problem in '09 is that the passing system is messed up making it hard to actually get the ball to go to the right person.

If in PES 10 it's actually possible to get it to look like a game between 2 AI opponents because they've sorted the passing then that alone will be worth my $60 for the game.

I respect your opinion, and I can kind of see your theory of watching an AI vs AI game but at the same time you can't really base anything on watching a game like that cos the game wasn't built around AI vs AI, surely

I agree that the passing system was messed up in PES09, which is the main reason I returned the game, it was just utterly unplayable, but looks to have been improved this year, although IMO it still doesnt look right. It still looks like your passing the ball on ice

Thats complete bull, sorry. Lacking 90% newer animations? No way.

As much as I used to be a PES fan, and still deep down its my favourite game of all time, there is no way that PES2010 will be better overall than FIFA10.

Just because FIFA is slower doesnt make it a bad game or bad gameplay. It just makes it different to PES. But this year that means FIFA is looking like its going to be the superior game.

And don't start on FIFA looking like a polished 09, whereas they have changed player sizes and added new camera angles. They are both polished from 09, but the thing is that PES has had the same old look for YEARS now

And also, state of the art PES2010 is NOT. Maybe if it had been released in '08 then yeah. But now? No friggin way is it. Its behind the times IMO

pes2010 uses a very advanced graphics and lighting engine that is at the cutting edge of todays technology,i work in the industry son as a programmer and tester so know what im talking about.This graphics engine is brand new and creates almost live broadcast like visuals wait till you see it in the flesh on your hdtv.Due to the old animations in pes2010 the game currently still looks slightly robotic plus is only using 16-way movement but this will change and we will have something that is almost representitive of the real game and you and many others will be eating your words.

the reason pes2010 looks very pes09 is because its still using 90% of pes09 animations.....believe what you want and dont make ridiculous statements like fifa10 is the better game lets judge this in early october when people have reviewed the final code for both games and the public have tryed the demo.

Surely no-one can say that this video just looks like PES2009.5

The first few videos I saw from Gamescom had me pretty optimistic ... the more I see the more I'm having doubts :s

Really hope playing it isn't like playing PES2009.5 *fingers crossed*

The more I watch of that video the more I think it looks great, actually. The dude playing as Barca really knows how to move the ball around, which is what actually happens in real football, pass and move.

if you ask me saying fifa is better than king pro is like saying medal of honour is better than call of duty. fifa shouldnt even be used in the same sentance as pes its that bad a game i read a thing on fifa fans getting exited that you can take quick free kicks on the new fifa.

You can say that PES2010 so far is lacking 100% and is last years code, hasn't got updated graphics, whatever - I'm just going on what's been released in videos as I haven't seen any of this so called "not one month old code" videos - if Konami don't want me to think it looks like '09 then don't release gameplay videos and show it at events.

I agree with you on the lighting is superb, but the overall look of the game, in gameplay, just looks the same as it does every year, just upgraded slightly.

I'm not just pointing out these 'negative' things for the sake of it, I'm saying it cos its my opinion, as much as I hate to say it

I wouldnt go that far mate fifa 09 is tolerable they have quite a few flaws that ruin the game...which i have mentioned before and even dide hard fifa fans cant answer because they know im right..

Yep the passing renders it nearly unplayable. Too often the ball won't go to the right player, and the ball is never weighted properly. Too often your player just taps it in front of him.

Go on and see the last vid i put up in the fifa thread, with 2 shit players and shitty camera....

Then watch any pes 2010 vid you like.

Then you will see why the general consensus coming out of gamescom is that fifa is more than likely to be the better game.

That DOES look good... wow. Only watched the first 20 or so seconds, up until the foul, as I'm currently at work, but yeah. Hopefully it plays as well as it looks.

Tech Skill, I've seen a number of FIFA 10 vids, still not overwhelmed. It plays very fluidly, which has been the big improvement in the last 2 instalments, and for that they get credit, but the game still seems to play the same way. It looks like what FIFA 09 was, an upgrade on '08, except 10 looks more similar to 09 than 09 was to 08.

Indeed, from upclose it looks quit good. Also the Seabass playing PES video looked better then the other Gamescon vids. Still hope :crymore:
