Fallout: New Vegas [PC/PS3/360]

I traded in F:NV. It was getting cancerous and crashing very regularly and was really pissing me off.

I need a good gaming PC then i'll go back to it.

Have you suddenly turned into BarnDoor?

Did you have it on PS3? Mine kept freezing a lot too. Gathering from your posts, I'm guessing you tried to do as much as possible in your current game, which is what I did. Probably not the best way to do it in hindsight.

Nope, I invented cancer, Barn just copied it.

And yes, I was going all out in my play through and it got my save file up to a ridiculous size, which leads to a lot of problems apparently.

There was an element of that but I needed the caps for the implants.

Traded it in today as it happens, like Jonno the glitching was getting insane.

Wasn't as bad on the 360 by the sound of it. The main glitch I suffered was with rifles. When crouched it often looked like you were viewing the game from your chest. Very odd & very annoying when trying to scope. Used to have the .44 disappear from view too, had to switch away to a different weapon, then back again to get it visable. Never had any major crashes though.

Have held onto the game so far, but toying with using it as trade in for Brink... not sure yet.

I think you just need to make sure you don't take on too much at once. Didn't you already get rid of it once? Or did you just contemplate it?

No offence, that just isn't good enough really is it?

Everything is there for you to do and basically saying "if you don't want your game to crash you're gonna have to play it through 3+ times so you can see everything without it breaking" is just pure unadulterated wank.

When a game freezes almost every play and between every half hour to an hour, there is something severely wrong. I had Fallout 3 on the 360 and it played amazing with no glitches and heard the PS3 version was awful back then so I assume it's the PS3's infrastructure that is to fault (combined with the engine).

I know it's no got ebough.

I actually had very few problems with Fallout 3, and the GOTY version, unlike others. It froze a few times, but nowhere near the levels of NV.

Spot on, its the graphics rendering - I read that one PC player was using 2 top notch graphics cards to stop the game from crashing when there was several NPC's on screen.

I had Fallout3 on the PS3 and it crashed all the time, I thought my PS3 was fucked.

Honest Hearts takes the player on an expedition into the unspoiled wilderness of Utah’s Zion National Park. Things go horribly wrong when your caravan is ambushed by a tribal raiding band. As you try to find a way back to the Mojave Wasteland, you become embroiled in a war between tribes and a conflict between a New Canaan missionary and the mysterious Burned Man. The decisions you make will determine the fate of Zion.

Honest Hearts added some melee weapons that have Weapon mods, unlike in vanilla New Vegas, which has no moddable melee weapons.
In Honest Hearts, like other DLC, you are not allowed to take followers with you. However, unlike Dead Money, the game does not force them out of your party, you have to do it yourself. Unfortunately, ED-E can be glitched out of the game entirely. If this happens the game still thinks ED-E is in your party and WILL NOT let you travel to Zion. (traveling to Vault 22, and then taking the elevator to level 5 should cause ED-E to appear next to you)
Unlike Dead Money, Honest Hearts was intended to be released simultaneously on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC [2].
Due to the PlayStation Network outage, PS3 users have to wait until further notice for the release of the add-on.
Honest Hearts, like Dead Money, will raise the level cap by 5[3].
The player's equipment will not be stripped at the beginning of the add-on, however there will be a maximum weight limit that will make the player choose wisely about what they carry into Zion. The DLC features an open-world setting.
Chris Avellone has confirmed that you will be able to return to Zion after completing the add-on.
Honest Hearts will feature multi-condition weathering, adding rain and fog into the game.

Not that I'm getting the DLC. NV is one of the titles being traded in for LA Noire :folarm:

Picked up FNV again and decided to invest in all the DLC. Some of the new armour is seriously impressive. The Elite Riot armour helmet with sneak vision is a let down, its nice having infa red but the Cats eye perk is still vastly better for low light levels. Its terms of aesthetics though, the Elite Riot equipment is very impressive.

So did you buy all the DLC separately? With FO3, I just held off... then traded my standard copy in for the complete version with all the DLC, worked out cheaper. I may do that with this one, if I ever have the urge to go back to NV.

 I've spent at least £70 on this game.

Still, I am really enjoying playing it through following the storyline. I nearly had to restart one portion of the game after I decided to kill Vulpes Inculta and the legionaries at Nipton. What I didn't realise was that I was that I would have Assassins from Caesar hunting me down, even on normal it took a lot of grenades to get shot of them.

I'm off to New Vegas to see off Benny although I may have left my Barter and Speech too low. I'm racking my brain to think of some high XP missions to get up to level 11 so I can invest some points in both skills.

I'm returning to this in the next few months (currently playing Fallout 3 again) and will be installing some particular mods to enjoy a different environment.

I got myself tooled up with explosives and shotguns and headed into Fortification Hill with Boone and wiped out all the legion there, including Caesar. I carpet bombed his tent for maximum carnage. The problem I found in preparing for this was certain guns I expected to take there to mete out damage glitch. I had "Lucky" a great little cowboy 6 shooter but the bastard glitches in VATS. A complete pain because I used the Gunslinger perk.

In fact I had the same problem in general with other Cowboy Perk based weapons on FNV. The Lever Action Shotgun and Cowboy Repeater both glitch in VATS where I remain prone for about 20 seconds. Usually results in my death as well. I'm not sure why these weapons are glitching but I'm going to have to start testing all weapons in this perk bracket, I need to see which actually work in VATS more often than not.

I've read the Brush Gun glitches which is a bit of a pain as its the best gun in the Cowboy Perk. Fingers crossed a Trail Carbine with custom ammo. VATS occasionally glitched on New Vegas so I'm at a loss to understand why VATS is so bad this time round. I ought to avoid VATS really but I can't, the higher critical chance hits against tougher enemies really makes it a necessity in combat.

On the contrary, you shouldn't avoid VATS. This isn't an FPS - this is Fallout and VATS is the way combat should happen first and foremost.

I've had occasional glitches with VATS (where I'd go into VATS but there are no targets showing on an enemy) which sorts itself for me by coming out of VATS and then activating it again a second or so later, as though it didn't like the enemy's relative position to my own.

You bastards are making me want to buy the ultimate edition, Can't be arsed at £25 though, might wait and hopefully go off the idea...

Same here. £25 quid isn't too bad considering what you're getting with it.

I'm a big exponent of VATS, I always go for the VAT based Perks because I love the one shot kills in VATS. It is though putting me off a touch from using it with certain weapons as I know its going to bugger about.

I'm wondering whether it is worth investing more Intense Training in Charisma for my character, currently I've only used one of my perks on that, which was to Agility. I'm being fairly rigid though my build though, this is a Hardcore Wandering Cowboy build and I'm only using lever action and revolver weapons at the moment (I had to use a grenade launcher to get rid of the legion at Fortification Hill though otherwise Boone would've died ... actually and me).

Currently my character reads

STR 6
PER 7 (+1 Cattle Rancher Cowboy Hat)
END 7
CHA 1
INT 6
AGI 9
LCK 9

PERKS/IMPLANTS:

PERCEPTION IMPLANT,
STRENGTH IMPLANT,
LUCK IMPLANT,
INT. TRAINING: AGILITY
SHOTGUN SURGEON
GUNSLINGER
COWBOY
EDUCATED

The main downside to having 1 for Charisma is that my companions cannot take as much or deal as much damage. Also I miss out on certain speech challenges ... however this is my 2nd full play through on the game, my last character had 9 for Charisma and some of the speech interactions you miss ... well they aren't worth investing in Perks in for Charisma. I may get the Charisma Implant and if I struggle to find Perks later on that fit the build I may plonk two more into Charisma. As I'm playing on Hardcore mode it means my companions can die so it certainly does make it quite challenging, even on normal difficulty.

PS: I've got 30,000 caps, which isn't a lot really considering the Medicine Stick Brush Gun is 27,000 at Gun Runners. I've been banned from every casino in the strip and at the Atomic Wrangler and at Vikki and Vance's. I need a new income and Prospecting for loot doesn't pay particularly well.

I'm getting a bit bored of my Cowboy Build as I get closer to completing the main story. I've still got the DLC but I'm wondering whether to run another build alongside it on Very Hard setting. I'm contemplating a Praetorian build which is essentially a Melee/Unarmed build. The problem with that at on Very Hard is that I've got every chance of being mown down before I can get close enough to batter my opponents. I might have to cheat and glitch the character in Goodsprings so I'm at level 50 when I leave - or thereabouts - so I'm skilled enough to survive. High Endurance, Perception and Agility seem key here.

I want to get this now and play Hardcore mode without any companions as a lone sniper, sitting in the wilderness silent but deadly.
