PES fans are you worried about FIFA 13?

Immediately after picking up the pad we knew EA had once again taken the football simulation to a different level. The sports game publishing giant has not rested on its laurels and is determined to cement its advantage over rival Pro Evolution Soccer.
In the time we got to play FIFA 13 we didn't really get much examples of this addition as a lot of players were still getting caught offside, but apparently the system is still being tweaked. We did on occasion though see Robin van Persie bending his run to beat the offside trap, which, quite frankly was beautiful.

EA are going with the tag line 'predictably unpredictable' for their new sports title but these days it seems predictably predictable that FIFA will come out on top in the battle of football sims.

why would any fan be worried? only the developers or people with money invested should be worried. consumers will just play what game(s) they enjoy

one thing that stops fifa being a great game... momentum and realistic movement.... just play fifa 12 and look at how big steps you players can take... in fact hold L2 like youre defending and watch your player hover around in a 5metre radius... for a game that has all the bells and whistles its absurd they have payed no attention to how players walk and run!!!..... in pes this is solved... people take real steps.... its realistic... until fifa can do that then they wont have a great game

PES..... please have fifa CLUBS mode... please

I know its not just me who will think this, but that's not true. That's not just me being equally subjective, the games are completely different, the massive change is game speed. Play on Superstar on PES2012 and then Play on the same level on PES2013, its markedly different. Its not frenetic to the point where you feel utterly wired after playing a match. Whilst it clearly has pretty the same graphics, the gameplay is completely different, its enjoyable.

Have to agree. Tried a game of PES 2012 today and WOW.......Horrible in comparison for me.

While PES 13 did revolutionize it's game play it certainly added and tweaked it plenty and it feels very different.

For me PES2012 felt too slow gameplay wise. The big problem for me was passing. It just didn't feel like players fired off spritely passes which meant I couldn't play intricate stuff roundabout the 18 yarder. This would result in me having to go wide more often than I would like too. Another reason for this was the lack of runner's. Playing a one two just didn't work. Player's wouldn't bust a gut to get themselves into the box. When they did they would find "stupid" space. What I mean by that is more often than not they would run into the space were there is either a defender or space which isn't threatening. I just really didn't like PES 2012. It ruined the creative game that I wanted to play and had me firing in more hopeful crosses than what I would have liked too.

PES 2013 looks the same which I pretty much knew it would. That was no problem to me. The graphics are good enough as it is. What I wanted was for them to look at gameplay which they have done. Passing, movement and shooting has been notably improved for me. It means I can actually penetrate more through the middle. Passe's come of crisper and sharper. For the first time in a good while I feel like I can threaten from outside the box when I have space to shoot. It just seems a more fun game overall for me and I could honestly say I would buy it and would jump into the master league straight away. That is something I thought I would never say after the appalling PES 2012. I never expected they could turn the game around like this. It has been a very nice surprise. My expectations were low, I wasn't expecting them to deliver but for me they have. Let me just say this though - I would buy the game in its current state. Fingers crossed for demo 2.

Been more than 1 year since I posted on this forum.
I loved PES 12 at first, but it started to piss me off after 1 week of playing. I gave up on it and bought Fifa 12. I really enjoyed the game, but career mode is boring as hell. Pes career never bored me, it was the gameplay that pissed me off,

So I saw the Pes 13 demo announcement and decided to give it a try.
It felt a lot like PES 12, and I'm not really noticing any big improvement except that I can place my shots quite easily now. Anyway, I'm really dissapointed in Konami..

The game feels, and looks 99% to Pes 12 to me!

I'm hoping for a second demo, that will blow me away because this really dissapoints me :(

I am sorry you feel that way, but from your post, I can honestly conclude that you didn't spend enough time with pes 13, because in all honesty I don't think you know of the following.

First touch. Now in pes 13 you can control the first touch in 3 different ways.

Manual shooting, passing, long passing, etc... Works really well and is mixed with player individuality

R2. Revolutionary. You can dribble slowly with it with full control, burst out of it or shield the ball with big, strong players. With slow players like Pirlo, R2 is fantastic as you can literally dance around a player to get into a better position for that killer pass.

Animations. While not fifa like, they are way smoother and fluid than in pes 12

Shooting in general without manual is way better as you can have an input on direction.

AI and CPU change. Pes 12 cheated you to death and when the AI scored, you can see through the cheating. In pes 13, while cheating still occurs, it's way less noticeable and won't make you made when you conceal a goal.

AI of your teamates. In pes 12 they had a set of option to open space. Pes 13 expanded that further.

PLAYER INDIVIDUALITY has never been better and you can instantly tell when you're with a dribbler, a passer or a scorer. Oh and player ID actually works extremely well.

And most of all, ENJOYMENT. This may be personal opinion, but the game is very enjoyable and you won't feel bored after 1 game.

Seriously, the changes mentioned above place pes 13 way above pes 12 and it seriously isn't a 99.9% copy when all of those changes were made.

This. The R2 dribbling on PES2013 is fooking superb, I've been using it a lot with Ronaldinho and it finally feels rewarding to dribble on PES2013 ... and its not overpowered because tackling is more intuitive, the balance has been found. Konami have found a rewarding formula, after years of "well, I guess its ok" and "meh".

I need a first touch tutorial, not sure what it is really about or what the controls are.

still impressed fair CPU defensive clears and goal kicks as well as not losing every header.

First touch tutorial: Hold R2 when ball approaches player.

Played the demo and enjoyed it. It didnt seem too robotic and thankful shooting was improved. I used to be addicted to Winning eleven in the PSOne and had a couple of PES in PS2 but then took a break until last year.
2012 was OK, but I could not get past the AI scripting (broke 1 controller). Got FIFA 12 and I have to say it is fun (more than pes2012, but its missing some "soul" and the individuality that PES brings to the table).

So far I haven't felt cheated in the Demo (I lost my PES skills) and hope it stays like that in Demo 2 and Final release. Looking forward to South American Licensed Teams and leagues. On a quick note, I do think the keepers suffer from some mental retardation sometimes...

That flick and dribbling tutorial are very handy. Going to be nutmegging defenders for the rest of the night with Ronaldinho
