I am going to start an online game with some guys I know. I have been allocated Real Madrid and was looking for some advice regarding potential buys. Some cheap good midfielders and other young players would be great.

Any ideas who to look out for, any advice would be great.

How do you start on online game? I was going to start one with my mate, but, we couldn't connect.

BTW get some who doesn't have a router to host the game.

I want to start a network game on Football Manager, what should I do?
Starting a network game:

1. Load up Football Manager.

2. Ensure that you have the ‘Run As Server’ option ticked in the ‘Network’ tab under game preferences.

3. It is recommended that for network games you have ‘Move Matches for TV’ un-ticked in your preferences.
It is important that not only the host, but all clients have this option unchecked at all times.

4. Select ‘New Game’ from the main menu as you would for starting an offline game.

5. Set up your game to the preferences of your choice like you would for an offline game. Be aware that more leagues you run, the slower the game will run.

6. Now that your game is all set up you can give other players your IP so that they can connect to you. You can locate your IP via the ‘Game Status’ screen or via a website such as www.whatsmyip.org

Joining a network game:

1. Load up Football Manager.

2. It is recommended that for network games you have ‘Move Matches for TV’ un-ticked in your preferences.
It is important that not only the host, but all clients have this option unchecked at all times.

3. Select ‘Network’ from the main menu.

4. Select ‘Join Other Server’ and then enter the hosts IP address to join the game.

Twelve of us including one girl which has amazed me as I didn't think they played FM. Should be good fun.

I look to have around 6million to spend with the new patch. Any suggestions on who to bring in. I am Real Madrid.

Welcome back...
I just had the most incredible game.

As holders of the European Cup (Liverpool) I went to play Arsenal in the Final. 3 down in 56 minutes I put on Garcia who immediatly won me a pen. Pen was converted then I got two more and after E.T won on Pens.

Istanbul eat your heart out!

Won the league at a canter as well after having come second first season to Chelski.

My network game didn't work again. Has the server name got to be set to something? or any settings on PC that has to be changed? Do I pick my team first or don't it matter?

EDIT - I've sorted it.

Woo Woo Woo
You using the new patch?

I'm just about to start pre-season in my Liverpool game, I've bought Taylor, Baines and some Croatian center back, he's 21 and was hot property (Barca, Real, the lot were after him)

I'm not sure what to do, Sell Pennant and use Gerrard and Garcia as my right wingers and buy a left winger, or stick with what I've got;

Gonzalez and Garcia for the left
Gerrard and Pennant for the right. :erm: (Anderson as back up too)

I've also got 5 class stikers; Owen, Kuyt, Bellamy, Falco (out on loan) and Cisse. I've also still got Fowler (Back up) and Lingfield (progressing quite nicely)

*RETIRED*
In January 2010 my transfer funds have been increased by £35.5m - to £229m :w00t

Have to start doing some serious spending as I'm not happy with some of the performances of squad members I can't get rid of (as nobody wants them).
