After info from Germany..PES Victorious?

After the info posted from germany I think is clear who the king is don't you guys think so?


my short summary:
- first of all no new screens
- the guys from the mag were specially invited by konami to test the version
- they played a very early version of the game but it run really smooth
- even at this early version all seemed very finshed (cleaned up)
- the players response improved (improved ball controll(handling), ability to pass really quick
- AI imrpoved alot more agressive and better position play ("they played at normal and found the AI "scary" in a good way )
- the AI improved alot in defensive play
- new manual pass control... "if your team is in control of the ball
the AI is in position of the player with the ball... but as soon as you
press L1 you can control the player with the ball" nice
- "the new pass system only sound complicated in the first way it is really easy to adapt"
- the controll setting manual is replaced by the new control system, automatic and half automatic is still there
- the player models look even better... the polygon figure has increased
- a few new animations the author mentioned ("players wave with there
hands to ask for the ball, you can see players stumble aside, players
slide longer on wet grass
- players reaction in rain changed alot... balls are hard to control,
shoots getting more harder to catch for the goalies, it is harder to
pass correctly
- a new mode which allows you to use your saved file online
- the author from the magazines is not allowed to tell more about the new mode
short summary of the author:
- in terms of gameplay he can sure tell PES 2009 beats Fifa 09
- technically PES 2009 feeled really well done not like the beta
version PES 2008 but he only got the changes to test the offline modus
sounds all good so far..."

Victorious? This doesn't even tell us anything. AI is improved, Gameplay is better then 2008, Graphics are better then 2008, players wave their arms to call for the ball. PES 2008 was a trainwreck, and to beat fifa 09, Pes 2009 is going to need to do a lot more then these slight improvements.

You talk like you have played FIFA 09.....compare PES 2008 to EURO 2008 and its clear that PES 2008 is better....so if anything FIFA is the one thats catching up. So lets not talk here like EA has been making great games and that the PES series is the one catching up....its the other way around buddy.

It should be better than FIFA09 -because- honestly, since when does FIFA09 looks promising. I've watched the videoclips and it just looks like a polished FIFA08 -and- FIFA08 sucked big time.. So I really don't see HOW FIFA09 will be victorious.

You must've liked the "AI in Defense looks particularly good" part. Maybe we'll get a PES5 with good Graphics -and- a little slower.

Sounds good.. But then again, by this time last year some people where promising the "best Football game to date" -and- then came PES08.. and then disappointment and excuses followed.

I'm still waiting for that Gameplay footage.

Don't forget that PES08 was an unfinished (rushed) game -while- on the other hand FIFA08 was a finished product. There's no doubt in my mind that PES09 will be better than FIFA09 -however- what remains to be seen is if it will go beyond PES4.

Yeah i mean I cant remeber the last time that a FIFA game was better and after reading that info i cant see how that will change....we already saw FIFA gameplay and it wasnt impressive at all....just a polished FIFA 08....PES 2008 just needs a few tweaks in terms of pace and defense and shooting and passing....to satisfy the masses i guess....but its on the right track....Konami knew PES 2008 wasnt there best footie and they were not set up for multi platform development but now that they had all the version completed ( 2008 ) they can just tweak those instead of rebuilding the whole engine.....that means that for about a year they could just play test and add and remove features in terms of gameplay....grafix will again be GOOD but not great but definitely next gen i believe...gameplay will be SUPERB.....online will be functional at the least i hope.....so im not worried about pes 2009 at all after reading some of this info lately.

I really liked that part. I hope we won't be disappointed. I like Pes 2008, but some things frustrate me like the defense and AI in general. That part of the sentence may make it the best game ever for me if it is really that good.

FIFA will always play the same and will hardly change in the slightest. Thats alright if the game was good but its not. PES will always be no.1 and in my eyes FIFA has never ever come close to pes and i believe it so much i have played FIFA like twice in 5 years becuase it sucks so bad.

If you buy FIFA then you cant like pes half as much as you'd like to think or say so because FIFA gamplay is so slow and drag that if you even admire it then i dont understand how you can like pes that much.

Well if he believe so, he can. Its a matter of opinion. Some people prefer things others dont. Since no gameplay is shown, we might as well judge from the article. Things might be diff after some gameplay footage is shown, but I hope it turns out great.

PES 2008 was the biggest arcade game. And does anyone else find the passing so horribly slow in PES. Even to move the ball to a player ten yards away the ball moves slower then a turtle and the other player just stands there and waits for it. How come they haven't addressed this?

Why haven't they addressed this?? Because Konami is incredibly Lazy.. hell, they have been releasing the same game since 2004.

That's one of the many things that SHOULD have been addressed by Now. PES6 was a good Football Sim -however- that doesn't takes anything away from the FACT that it haves LOADS to Improve in every Aspect.

Its really true I guess....ppl are just greedy. Amateur, the game that u r hoping for might not even be available on the next gen consoles ( xbox 720 & ps4 ) with all those stats and special abilities u described.....soccer has WAAAAAAAAy to many players to give each player the smae amount of attention, maybe in a basketball game u can do that but not in soccer. And by the time we get new console itll take alot to put in all the details and learn to work with em.....( check out the early games of xbox 360 and ps3 and ull see what i mean ). I think for now we should just be glad we are hearing good news about PES 2009....
