My tips...

1).Do not play with lousy teams (e.g. South Korea, Saudi Arabia)

2).Make sure that you don't play at the tempo of WE8 --> Go slowly, have patience

Have to agree with that, its all about patience and build up play now, no more hitting it forward and hoping for the best. Try passing it around your midfield until an opening appears and then play a probing pass to set up an opportunity on goal

Shooting with Thierry Henry, run parrallel across edge of box hold:L1: and shoot this does a crazy swerve shot like Henry does nearly every game for arsenal !

The curl you generate on the ball is wicked too:D

Practice set plays. I'm scoring a lot from corners and free kicks. Really does make a difference if you can jag a goal from a set piece.

With Corners, try curve it into the near post. I play as West Ham and Sheringham or Aliadiere always seem to meet the ball with speed and make good connection.

I've scored some pearlers by aiming straight down and bouncing it over the diving keeper.

Also try volleys more. When crossing or if theres a loose ball around just tap (or sometimes keep tapping) square button and aim for a sweet volley.

R1 to for a ball feint (Instead of trapping the ball) and let it go on to another player is super effective in PES 5. I've opened up defenses with this time and time again. Sometimes it buys enough time for a good shot or opens up some space for a meaningful run.

Good Thread ... I've learnt a lot from it!

1) When shooting (especially outside the area), aim for the front/near post. The keeper seems to let it sneak in almost always.

2) Through passes are too easy in PES5, and in turn, difficult to defend. So, when setting formation, set individual attacking and defence arrows to face your own goal. This means that your defence will get to the ball before the other team's attackers. but it also means that there will be less off-sides against your opponent.

I've noticed that most tips given in this thread are just moves taking advantage of PES5's bugs.

Good thread though.

Too Busy Working to Post
1) Try crossed from deep and looping headers from the edge of the box last year the heading was rubbish this year the headers are like rockets.

2) Watch the radar map at the bottom, keepers often go for a walk, if I was on Crossbar challenge off Soccer AM with me team I would be laughing hit the bar so many times whilst shooting from the half-way line whilst keeps is on walk abouts. got to be one step ahead on this game.

1. If you get within 35 yards with Van Bommel have it!!!

2.Try not to use (L1 + Triangle), believe me it hardly works...always over hits the ball...

and just an extra one ;) Ronaldinho is shit hot at free-kicks.

Couldn't agree more with that! They always trickle towards the keeper just out of reach of your striker!:(

L1 + Triangle works well if you hit the ball into the corners. Instead hitting it straight towards goal aim for the corners more. The keeper won't leave his box, by the time the defenders turn for the ball you're already on it.

From there double tap circle for a low cross and pile on the pressure ...

1. In negotiation period go to search, search by group, then newcomers sort by salary and negotiate contracts with the most expensive eg oliver 720 points even though his stats are crap then trade him for somebody good eg alan smith 680 points so you dont need to pay transfer fee.
2. Cant score free kicks. hold L2 until 2 players go over the ball then select kicker to someone with middle shooting then press L1 + X and the player will not shoot he will run with the ball then shoot when you want and theres a better chance of scoring

1. To create alittle space for urself, instaed of receiving the ball and turning allow the ball to pass and turn ur plyr with R1 to allow ur plyr to run onto the ball

2. To use the L1 + triagle or circle successfully (not overhit to their keeper) aim down the wings into space, the keeper wont leave to chase a bll down their

Also learn to use super cancel R1+R2 in the game, can be good to knock the opposition of balance instead of tackling, to push plyrs under the ball when they're going for headers etc

1. Got a feeling this might be worthles to alot of ppl but some people might appreciate it, if they don't know already. Today when browsing through options on pause screen whilst waiting for my mate to finish his toilet trip i realised that on screen settings you can change the colour of your dots on the radar. Personally I find it useful to have a bright colour if i've been assigned something quite bland so I can literally see at a glance roughly where my players are

2. When running, start to run with R1 and R2, and then triple tap L1 before your player touches the ball and the next time he will touch it he will run in a sort of arc to reach the ball. Used at the right time you can put the ball one side of the defender/goalie and run round the other side of him. Very difficult to pull of when your in a game situation and have a defender coming towards you but looks great if you pull it off, have tried it a few times but haven't pulled it off succesfully in a proper match yet, only in training.

1.when ever you start a match with someone the computer or a mate if you'r kicking off do the flick down up clearing the first man that comes to you then for all it's worth hit the ball on the volley haven't scored it yet but come mighty close.
2.buy robinho, need a few goals get into the box and wonder around he drops at the slightest touch got 4 penals today on ml with him and this little trick.

1. Between 18-22 yrds on Fk's I usually hold down + R2 to kick with the square and power is usually placed slightly under the halfway mark. For some reason, the ball tends to always fly over the wall and into the net. Its best to use this with players who have 84+ on Shooting Power.

2. Don't be afraid to use bold offensive formations. I like to use 3-3-4 and lately have been tinkering with a 3-2-5. Yep 5 Strikers! The key to using these is fouling correctly. When mispositioned, foul lightly to regroup your def. But i've just realized lately playing vs. comp and mates that 4-5 strikers create hell on their defenders. There was one game vs. the comp on 6 stars where he never crossed the halfway mark on the field cept on his kick off which was intercepted quickly. Having well positioned strikers makes it possible to play good defensively up front. Also for corners, you crowd the box and almost assures that someone will get open to head the ball.

1. don't run all the way to the byline before crossing and also try not to be right on the sidelines either. best crosses are going to be early ones where the ball doesn't have to travel too far. like someone above said - double tap 0 is a good bet for crossing as it makes the ball travel faster, less of a looping high cross.

2. headers - you can score from outside the penalty area quite regularly so don't be afraid to go for it! i find its best to use loads of power on these headers. you can hold square down for a very long time, release it before the ball gets to your shooter - so he has time to get into the air. because the keeper is going to be off his line you have a great chance of scoring.

sorry - these are more tactics than techniques. maybe someone is going to find them useful though.
