Right so here we have two of the premierships best right backs. Playing for two big London clubs, they have found themselves in different situations throughout the season. Paulo has struggled to hold down the right back position and cement it as his own. Emmanuel struggled to get action at the beginning of the season, but since Lauren's injury, has filled the position very well. Here are the issues we can discuss about the two players.
Firstly they are two very fit players. Emmanuel has a stamina of 84 and Paulo a value of 85 as I would say he is very sightly fitter. The thing that separates them is in the final stages of the game Emmanuel is more hard working than Paulo who starts to slack a little bit. So Emmanual has a higher mentality value of 82, which gives him an edge over Paulo's 77 for mentality. Both are athletic with good pace and leap, although Emmanuel is definitely faster. Top speed and acceleration of 86 mean Emmanuel carries himself very well up and down the right flank. A slower acceleration of 78 and a top speed of 80 mean Paulo is by no means slow, and faster than most think. Both agile players, but Emmanuel is slightly more nimble than Paulo with an agility stat of 81.
Next, lets talk about their defensive qualities. First thing to mention is that Paulo has a higher defence value of 80. This is because his initial defensive positioning is better than Emmanuels, and he is more inclined to stay back. It also demonstrates that Paulo is quicker to his feet from slide tackles than Emmanuel. I feel that Emmanuel has improved the qualities of his slide tackles as this season has gone on, and that is why I have given him the sliding tackle special star. Paulo is not so accurate with his sliding tackles and sometimes mistimes them, but like I said is quicker to his feet. Another point to raise in regards to their defensive qualities is their response value. Paulo has a lower stat of 71, and this is due to the fact he is sometimes slow to react to attackers movement. Sometimes he doesnt pick up a quick movement they make , and consequently loses his man and gives them a scoring opportunity.
Next, their attacking attributes. The first thing to be said is that Paulo is definitely the more defensive minded of the two, and is more inclined than Emmanuel to hold a deeper position. Im not saying Paulo doesnt attack, that is certainly not true, just that Emmanuel is more inclined to bomb down the wing. So to represent this is a combination of 3 values; Attack, defence, and aggression. Firstly Paulo has a lower attack, and a higher defence than Emmanuel so we can see that he is going to want to hold a deeper position more regularly than Emmanuel wants to. Secondly Emmanuel has a higher aggression value of 78, so this means he is going to be more inclined to bound forward and help out. Paulo does do this with attack of 71 and aggression of 70, but not to the extent of Emmanuel.
Final point I will raise is their crossing ability. Paulo has slightly better cross on him, and with a higher team work rating of 85 there is more chance of the cross connecting. Emmanuel has a lower team work rating and the dribbling star, so will be that bit more inclined to run at defenders when he gets into a promising position. If he does choose to play a cross in, its normally a good one and with long pass accuracy of 70 you can achieve this.
