And back to this middle shooting issue. I dont think you quite understand what the middle shooting star does ATH10, because it isnt really used to make it easier to score from distance, only in an indirect manner.
And you are still not treating Lassana as an individual. Just because he plays DMF, it is no reason to deny him the ability to have certain stars. Just like Dean Ashton has the passing star, even though he is a striker!
And by you saying Hargreaves can still play right back is exactly what I meant! The reason I dont have it as a position is because I dont want the computer to put him there. But you can still play him there
And regarding the next player, I was going to keep Fabregas until the option file, but if you want him now that is fine. I wouldn't have thought I would do any 'really long' analysis at the moment, as the option file my main priority. What I really would like is you people to try and have a topic or discussion. I would be more than willing to post a set of stats for the likes of Lennon or Fabregas, but it would be cool to have a talk about them first.

The key attributes to successful shooting from range are still the three shooting ability's; accuracy, power, technique. The middle shooting star on its own does not give a player the ability to blast in goals from distance, it effects the type of shot which a player can produce, which in turn makes it that bit easier to score from range. True, it does give slightly increased accuracy, but that is not the main feature of the star.
The middle shooting star, increases the probability that a player can produce what we will call a 'non-rotating shot'. Basically this is the kind of shot where there is very little swerve on the ball from the connection from left to right or vice versa depending on the foot used. Think of Lampard away at Everton, or Gerrard at home to Villa. With a player who does not have the middle shooting star, the probablity of this 'non-rotating' shot being produced are quite slim, about 30% it is believed. There is even less chance of this kind of shot being produced mid-dribble, and normally can only be achieved by using the knock ahead technique (R1 + L1). If a player has the middle shooting special star, then there is a much higher chance of this player producing a 'non-rotating' shot, especially during mid dribble. You notice players like scholes, Gerrard, Lampard (and incidentally Diarra) are particularly good at this, and can get the shot whilst moving with the ball. Think of Gerrard against Man utd a couple of season's ago, and Lampard at home to Everton this season. What's more is when the knock ahead technique is used, or the players are running on to a slow moving ball to strike, there is a much higher probablilty of this 'non-rotating' shot being produced, over 90%.
So you see that although middle shooting has a small boost on accuracy (not much), it by no means turns a player into a marksman from distance. So once again we come back to Diarra. His shooting abilities are 68 for accuracy, 80 for power and 65 for technique. He deserves middle shooting, because he is good at producing these 'non-rotating' shots, but he isnt as consistent as say Lampard or Schloles at them. So this is where the beauty of stat balance comes in to play. What stat has effects the likelihood of a 'nice' shot being achieved? Thats right, shot technique. So by giving him lower shot technique of 65 and middle shooting star, he has the benifit of being able to produce these 'non-rotating' shots, but because he has lower shot technique, this has a slight counter to the special star, which is exactly what we want as he isnt as consistent as Gerrard at this type of shot, but is more consistent than players without it!![]()
