Cut-back goals....discuss

Good to hear it! I don't mind a cut-back goal, but the fact that the defenders leave the strikers on their own every time is what annoys me.

Thats what annoys me too. Use of the cut-back goal in my opinion signals that you cant play properly (i mean every attempt on goal is a cut-back) People try it and normally - for example - Ronaldo is standing on his own 6-8 yards out. Cut-back is fine but i would like to see a defender marking the striker.

If im spain - they have 3 or 4 good defenders and 2 or 3 good defensive midfeilders. When im defending a cut-back goal - why do all these players flock to the ball even if i control them not too. If you set up marking in tactics - it still doesnt stop them leaving players on their own! Annoying. Saying all this - i went 6 games without conceeding recently. But i have to be in the zone to do that.

Use 4-4-2 with 4 CB's. With your two outside CB's (the ones who are normally SB's), aggressively man mark his wing players. And, with one of your central CB's, aggressively man mark his CF. You will be amazed how much this eliminates cut-backs.

the cut back is very annoying. its a goal yeah, but those type of goals come from low quality teams. with the likes of barca and brazil goals should not be scored like that as they have the talent to score better goals. i play with man utd and get in the position to cut it back with ronaldo but i would rather shoot than pass it back. i like beautiful goals not regular one's

Yeh I can't stand them either. The way I look at it is that it is cheating. There shouldn't be one type of goal thats a lot easier to score than any other. Konami have said this and say that they try to remove these types of goal.

That means that it is a glitch in the game and anyone that exploits that glitch is practicly a cheater. I know thats not really true but thats the way i look at it.

It reminds me of the IW gun in Socom 2. It was twice as accurate than any other gun so people banned it. Some say if its in the game then you can use it, but if one person used it then everyone else had to in order to make the game fair.

Its the same in PES. If someone scores the "cheaty pullback" all the time then the only way you can even out the game is to keep scoring it yourself. What's the point of playing the greatest, most realistic football game in the world if you are both going to keep going for the same goal?

I best go now anyway because i've written too many words, but ask yourself this - You play video games for fun, so why take all the fun out of it for both people, just in order to get a different number next to your name?

And on that note, i'm off.

Everyone does it... and you have to admit it's the easiest way to a goal. Everyone including you, whether against them or them against you. I'm afraid there isn't much we can do about that, fuck it though, whenever I really need to score I look for a cut-back goal as my saviour.

Oh right, from what I gathered from this thread someone gets to the byline presses X and it just goes in. Thanks for clearing it up.

Seems like a lot of people have lost matches here due to cut-back goals. Sore losers?

I'd score one if necessary. I'd rather win 1 - 0 and score one than draw 0 - 0. Hell, I'd have no problem scoring one. If it means beating the other person I would do it!

Well i don't mind if others use this method cause i find a really nice method to avoid cut back goals...
First of all in the controller menu change from semi-auto to manual. Then you are free to choose with L1 the defender you want and i believe passing and shooting become better(that's my style of play). Now when the winger starts going all the way up, i change with the L1 to a defender somewhere in the middle of my defense and i press the Square button so another defender cuts the winger. If the other defender doesnt get the ball and the winger passes, i am able to cut the pass with my selected defender at least 8 of 10 times.
But surely, scoring with other ways is much better. Yesterday i was playing with Ukraine and after a winger's cross , Shevchenko controlled the ball with his chest and then he made a side scissor shot that crashed the other guy's net !!!! Simply beautiful .....

Now that's what I'm talking about, ways to stop the 'bug'! And the way Shevie scored there is what PES is all about, beautiful football.

if you guys let a winger free to roam into the box you deserve to concede... I played indoor soccer for real and its bloody hard to stop attacker from taking a shot from a cutback.. half a meter or so is enough space for attackers to take a shot..

In PES, It happen to me several time... but most of the time, I manage to stop the winger ...

anyway, if I'm in that cutback sitiation, try and crossing the ball by double tapping cross... sometime the ball goes to a free player at the other side of the penalty box... sometime I got a header out of it .. or a cracking volley..

I was playing online last night and I always play either as Real or England. You can slate me all you want for choosing two great teams but that is not the subject I wanted to discuss. It is the cut-back goal I would like to talk about.

I played about 6 matches last night and every single player I played against (most choosing Brazil or Barcelona) scored every single one of their goals using the cut-back method. For those of you who do not know what a cut-back goal is I will explain. You get as close to the by-line as possible with a quick winger/forward and then you run straight upwards or downwards towards the goal mouth. You then just press pass :x: across goal and 9-times out of 10 you will score.

Now I can score a cut-back as well as any man but I simply refuse to. I would rather hang up my digital boots that score like that. It can't be fulfilling or fun to win games that way, can it? I won maybe 4 of the 6 games I played last night but I was just so annoyed that I couldn't defend that type of goal that I was forced to write this rant!

Please discuss!

i know the feeling mate as 1 of my buddys does that and it pisses me off because he trys to do it the whole game if you'r gonna do that then play fifa, pro evo is for playing fantasy football and its dead boring to play against some1 who just does cut backs althougth i can stop the majority of them its still defeats the purpose of pro evo its not just about wining its about wining and losing in style i and all my mates who are good prefer to lose to a great goal although i hate conceding a great goal as well as youl never hear the end of it

i thought everyone used manual, i have been since i first started playing PES i hated how the ai dictated which player i was

i use manual too and type 5 cross.the thing that annoys me most about cut backs is thats its always the crap players who do it and its basically hit and hope as you dont have time to aim or controll the shot but when you take a great shot with good power the player skys it or when its an open goal and konami reward these shitstabbers instead of the quality players
