yeah thats what I'm saying, you don't get those sorts of scores in football these days. The formations in those days were 5 forwards and 2 defenders, no one even knew what defending was let alone marking. You have to take everything into context and after the world cup in 1970 things completely changed which is probably why Brazil didn't win the cup again until 1994 despite having some great teams.

is it true that in the past era, football is play in this manner?
pardon a young one asking.
CHEERS!
btw i think maradona is the best. he can kick the ball 50yards into the air without moving and kick again.(get what i mean?) during some all stars match

yup they had strange positions like inisde left, wing half and all that, seems bizarre these days. football evolved quite a bit after the '70 world cup when the italians and germans especially sorted out their defensive systems opting for a 3-5-2 to squeeze the midfield and reduce the service to the strikers. in 1970 brazil were playing with a 4-2-4 or 4-3-3 with the left winger pushed almost into a forward position with pele often dropping back into a playmaking role. wow that brazil team were something special though and probably the greatest team ever regardless of whether pele is the best individual or not. I will admit that much at least.

even though brazil produce the most talent..there league is quite competitive and full of skill..the only reason why it is not poular around the world..is the administrators are corrupt. there has been a famous saying...a man was complaining to god..why do brazil get all the most talented players and win WC's...god replied..dont worry i will also give them the worst administrators!"

Pele king of football(talent A+,skill A+,ambassador to football A+,WC A+, Achievments A+, Mentality B) Maradona (talent A,skill A+, ambassador to football F,WC's C..had the potential to win more..if his mentality was better, achievements C, Mentality C) Last i head the Argentinians just celebrated maradona b-day..he himself was not able to attend the function..because at the moment he is living in cuba..attending a drug rehab centre.

Well Robinho has not been in that so good a form most of this yr compared to last yr..but in his last 3 games he has scored 5 goals ..he is back to his best...beating 3 defenders with his awesome dribbling and scoring goals. You can check him out at there official website.. www.santosfc.com.br or try www.globo.com ..both site are in portugese..so you will need to translate it ..maybe with google.

where does this Robinho play...err...robinho?? for what team?
strange i usually know about the up and comers in Brazil, one slipped thru the net!

FamilyMahone, you are taking the P about David Unsworth aren't you? he's not even everton's best defender nevermind anything else!!!!! you seem so serious that i'm now doubting that you were joking

davie unsworth is a footballing genius. Unfortunately the Brazilian league is riddled with corruption which is breaking it's back.
Ricardo Teixeira (president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and a member of FIFA's executive committee) was said to lived in luxury all at the CBF's expense, he even donated their money to political campaigns!.
Even former national coach Wanderley Luxemburgo was at it by giving caps to loads of players and fixing them up with dodgy passports so they could be sold onto European clubs with him taking a cut of the transfer fee. After investigation it was found he had amassed $9million over 5 years and was done for tax-evasion and money laundering, he got 5 years but won't go to jail until the whole appeals process is finished (which could be years). Bloody ridiculous really, until they sort out that whole mess the league there will continue to stagnate.

Mat Phillips..Robinho 19 is probably the biggest rising star along with diego his team mate to come out of Brazil for a long time. Robinho plays for the team Santos (Pele team) in Brazil and has been regarded as Pele next predecesor (there has been many..but ppl truly believe Robinho can someday emulate him)Robinho main qualitys is his dribbling..dribbles very much like denilson but 3 times more. He has a lot of maturing to do as a lot the of time his productivity and finishing can go wayward...but when he pulls a play off and become more consistent with age ..it will be like watching pele, pele himeself said " when i see robinho , he reminds me of myself in my playing days".Robinho can takeover a game and play as if there was devil inside him. The other is Diego..he has been probably the most consistant and most talked about in brazil. People have labbled him a mini zidane....His coach Emerson leo said Robinho dribbles the ball better then Pele, and Diego controls the play better then Zico..i know he's bias..but that is a big wrap for a kid 18 years old.

Excellent, cheers Robinho, i had heard a lot about Diego (didn't Tottenham try to sign him for something daft like 2 or £3million??)

if this Robinho is as good as i'm now hearing i'm sure i'll see him before long, is he in the national youth sides yet??

Yeh it's the same Diego who nearly was signed by tottenham....yeh Robinho said after santos ..he wants to play for Barcelona(for some reason brazilians like to play for them?)..yeh Robinho has played for the national team along side diego, ronaldo and co..but with his poor form of late ..he has not made it back..with good form of recent..he has a goood chance of returning his place for the WC qualifiers in late Nov.

oh ok.

this may seem like a weird question Robinho, but are YOU actually Brazilian but live in Austrailia or what?

Isn't every forward that comes out of Brazil called the 'new pele'?, heard it all before. Where is the new Rafael Scheidt?

Yeh as i stated before Family!!! a lot of the rising stars have been called the new Pele! but Robinho has justified his place more then any others before him..and ppl believe so...look at him 1st there is some reseblence in colour, build at the same age, and team. Then many of the brazilian ppl believe he has qualities in play that have many similarities to the Great one!Even Pele himself announced that he will be his true successor. Rafael sheidt..never heard of him.

oh dear not pele's predictions, he's usually 100 miles off on most of them so much it's becoming a running joke. why is it you are so fascinated with brazil anyway? you watch any other south american football?

why and who wouldnt be..facianted with brazilian football..they produce and play the most creative and attacking football (if brazil had the money and wearnt so corrupt..then they will one of the top leagues in the world)..., they win world cups..what more can you ask for.?Unfortunately i harldy get to see brazilian league games..so i mainly watch through the web..and get the latest scores...i also watch most Priemere league games and champions league. Yeh Pele is not to good with predictions (colombia win the WC)..but i do now follow what he says...i just follow what the most regarded football journalist in brazil think..and many of them believe robinho is the closest thing ever to the next Pele. Argentinian football is nice attacking..but i like brazil because when they play they create things ..they look like dancing with defenders. They bring style to the game..other nations can do the same tricks..but when brazil do it..it's looks all so natural and effortless.
