How come I'm playing Switzerland? I set up a friendly with Portugal about 2 weeks ago.
it's because when we were deciding matches people were playing 4+ matches on anybody's console, people were playing much and others weren't playing at all, so he decided the 2nd set of friendlies, and people who played 2 matches won't play again as simple as that

Fair enough. But the Swiss manager hasn't been online for ages. It'll be an interesting match though. I've had a good long time to sort out my formation and tactics and now I think I'm ready to take on everyone. :D

Match Report:

An exicting match between the two traditional footballing rivals ended goaless. England retained the same lineup and formation that crushed Sweden a couple of weeks ago, as manager Lami, seems to have pretty much decided on his favoured 11 for euro 2004. There were many chances for both sides, and possesion was 50/50 right the way down to the end. Germany edged it in the shots on goal stakes, but failed to convert. The England defence coped with the German Ariel attack quite well, but the defending at ground level was often a bit untidy. However, as past confrontations go, this was no different in how tight the match actually was, and i suppose with these two teams, can we expect any different?

Dyer was lively, as was Owen. Heskey played again, as the target man, knocking down a few good passes to set up on rushing midfielders, Scholes and Beckham, but neither managed to score. Owen had a couple of chances, one was a scissors kick from a beckham cross which tested Kahn, but Sol campbell failed to knock in the rebound. The Germans had some of the best chances through Kuranyi and ballack who threatened throught the match. It was a good workout for both sides, and showed that both teams will be defensively strong when the sides begin their Euro campaign.

Germany (3-5-2): Kahn, Khel, Nowotny, Worns, Jeremies, Ziege, Schneider, Ballack, Hamann, Kurayi, Klose.

England (3-5-2) James, Terry, Campbell, G. Neville, Gerrard, A. Cole, Dyer, Scholes, Beckham, Owen, Heskey.

but like i said though, i think we'll have to move on to the tournament very soon though...so i hope those who have been awya will soon be giving in their tactics for their opening group games, cos we are almost out of time for friendlies.

news flash:

the option file is finally here!!

its maybe not totally 100% but its the best I can get it and as close to the real setup that you will find anywhere on the web!...(I think) so check it out, remember, open it through option file editor, if you havent got it, download it here.

option file editor

1. download the option file editor

Euro 2004 option file v1

2. download my option file from my server which is available now.
3. Locate your team, and then you can view all the players stats.

It doesnt matter if you dont have the pc version of the game, just save my option file to somewhere in your HD, and then open that file through option file editor. this should be the best way to do this.

Euro2004- Group A -Portugal V Greece, Dragão - Porto

Welcome to our coverage of the opening match live, from Dragao, Porto where Sam Erasa's Portugal meet LFC 4EVAs Greece. The favourites, Portugal should win this game, but a shock is always likely in world football, as the Greek side have nothing to lose against the hosts. The weather should be dry and sunny, ideal conditions for the opening match. We go now to the studio for a brief preview of the game.

In the studio: Thank you for joining us live on InsightTV, as we bring you coverage of the opening Euro2004 match, Portugal V Greece. We should see silky skills on display today, as both Ronaldo and Deco are in the side, as well as the influential Luis Figo. We are just 15 minutes from kick off now, as what should be a good opener. Just time to run through the lineup and formation which has just been announced.

Portugal (4-4-2) Ricardo, Ferreira, Rui Jorge, Carvalho, Couto, Costinha, Beto, Figo, Deco, C. Ronaldo, Gomez.

A very attacking formation with great width from Figo playing on the left and Deco on the right. It would be interesting to see how Ronaldo gets on upfront supporting Gomez, but with his 2 goals in the friendly win against Bulgaria, he will surely be a threat. A old guard of Couto and Ferreira will sure up the back four, with Costinha and Beto playing defensive midfield, giving the wingers license to go forward.

Greece: (3-4-3) Nikopolidis, Venetidis, Dabizas, Dellas, Zagorakis, Giannakopolis, V. Lakis, V. Tsartas, Charisteas, Nikolaidis, Choutos.

The Greeks have opted to play a back three with Venetidis, Dabizas and Dellas, a diamond in midfiled, with Zagorakis, as the holding midfielder. The wingers will venture forward with every opportunity but will have to keep their minds on defending also with the threat of Figo and Deco, but it will be an interesting confrontation how the diamond copes with the Portuguese quartet. The front three will have to test the back line if they want to get something here, but the attacking intent is there playing three forwards, in Charisteas, Nikolaidis and Choutos.

Greece here to play football then, and now we go over live to Portugal for awaiting the start of the match. Stay with us, you'll get all the results here with match analysis from the game. Now, over to Dragão.
