Why the hell did they not add anything to Master League? Is this not the mode which all pes gamers play the most? I thought this game was supposed to be a serious next gen effort, yet the only improvement to Master League is a slight tweak made to the negotiation system. I just cannot get my head around how they can leave out all the features of the previous ML's, like the training mode. How can this not be used on a much more powerful console? You have to genuinely wonder if the development team at Konami are actually lazy (with regards to researching fans opinions and implementing new features) or maybe even stupid.

How is this game supposed to be next gen if all they to do improve the gameplay is go back to the gameplay they used on games they made years before.

I just get a sore head thinking about this. Master League currently has no depth, it has absolutely f**k all. ML needed a complete overhaul and konami knew it, yet theyve done nothing. I dont care that they added Become a Legend, this has no appeal for me, and nobody asked for it. What people did want was an improved ML, but Konami have delivered the same tripe they did in PES 2008.

all i wanted last time out was to be able to use the blank teams as part of ML. i edited them all into the championship sides for 'F' all. tho all this talk of 2009 has made me say sod it give it a try while i wait but my first league game against dynamo zagreb sort of ruined it. these teams are the ones you want to qualify for europe to play against. ML used to be my favorite mode when 5 was out but 2008 spoiled it.

i am starting to get scared that i don't really care about pes as much as i always have. it's like realising you don't really fancy your girlfriend anymore. why can't they listen and just change the master league a bit for fook sake or even the simple ability to change teams at the end of the season. i'm officially sitting in a big huff with my arms crossed and a petted lip until sebass starts listening.

Hahaha so true. I have that feeling, I'm 18 mind. For me it's probably just called growing up.

The ML is quality. Each match this year will have tacticall thinking involved.

Also negotiations count for 70% of the fun factor with ML for me so i dont care that thats it.

This gameplay with competitive ML games will be awsome.

I am scraping the bottom of the barrel as to why some people think this version isnt much of an improvement. Its so much of an improvement it angers me to here you say that its not much better. Are you fuking blind? Its way miles better. The nets have that spring in them which makes even the crap goals look good and the ball is weighted perfectly.

There is so much to look forward to this year. It looks brilliant.

How is the Master League quality? Please explain this. If you are referring to pes 2008 master league then you must be having a laugh. This is how ML works in Pes 08 - Select your team, play matches until the transfer window, play more matches until the next transfer window. Thats it, thats all there is. Where is the quality? Theres no training mode, no switching teams, shallow negotiation system. I expect a lot more from a game on a next gen system.

Ok pes 2008 ML was shite because the gameplay was wack i was refering to earlier 1s.

I agree about matchs - window, matches - window.

But there is nothing better than each window signing a legend with top stats and thats what keeps me playing it. Now they improved the only reseason i played it (negotiations).

Training mode is pointless after a few seasons as the matches themselves become easy enough, why wld you use it anyway. I never.

Switching teams? Why the fuk would, after a few seasons, you change team? By then you'd of started signing some great players and building your team. Why wld you switch for example if you just bought pele, zico and aguero for like god knows how much. It makes no sence. No wonder they didnt include it.

Shallow negotiation system? That was what they spent time this year improving and players moral can be affected if you leave them on the bench resulting in poor condition and low moral. sounds good. A welcome addition.

Next gen this, next gen that. Face it it will be years before we get groundbraking games on a regular basis like cod 4. Look at GTA 4. It was bollocks compared with the hype and it was in development for 4 years!

This games on the pitch gameplay will be really fun to play along with the fact we have:

-2v2 online
-4v4 legends
-Legend mode
- A decent edit mode
- And still the possiblility of Champions league football. Remember they got a new license partnership which is apprently groundbraking in itself.

Plenty to look forward to.

Switching teams? Why the fuk would said:
maybe you should ask any manager of a real team the answer to that question mate and you would probably get the same one

A FRESH CHALLENGE TO STOP THINGS GOING STALE :w00t
p.s if you are being sarcastic i apologise

They really focused on the Legend thing. I think you are going to enjoy that one more. Now they have these "modes finished Seabass can work on other things" :D

C'mon, the ability to switch teams would be an excellent feature. You said yourself that the matches become easy enough. So when this happens, it would be good if you could start playing as another team and start to build them up whilst staying in the same season. It sounds like you enjoy starting from the very beginning all the time, which is fine, but weve been doing that for years now, and it would be a good alternative if we could just switch to a different team, in a different league, with new players, without losing your overall progress in the Master League.

Yes shallow negotiation system. You offer some pes points, with a limit to what you can offer, then offer a contract of a certain amount of years and a certain amount of pes points, also with a limit to what you can offer. Then thats it. You can be rejected, with no reason why. This would be extremely easy to implement but they just dont bother their arses. Dont say this would be pointless either, cos it would make it more realistic and more interesting than just loading up your earlier save and going back to offer the exact same amount until you get the player, cos they will eventually come.

An in depth training mode would be another welcome feature, it wouldnt be pointless, it would add a whole new dimension to the Master League. It would be a lot more fun in pre-season to actually practice your skills on a real training pitch than just selecting which skills you want to improve and the game then does it automatically for you. This was in previous installments so theres no reason why it couldnt be in pes 2009.

I shouldnt have to 'face it' that were not going to get a next gen pes game. First of all, seabass said he was going to give pes a complete overhaul for pes 2009. If he wasnt going to actually deliver on this then he should have just kept his mouth shut. Also, I dont expect to get groundbreaking games on a regular basis, otherwise they wouldnt be groundbreaking. Pes 2009 doesnt have to be groundbreaking to satisfy me. Its the exact opposite. It doesnt seem like they can deliver a next gen experience so Id rather they just released pro evo 5 with updated teams and better graphics. Seriously, for me thats all they would have to do.

How did they have to really focus on it anyway? Theres a version very similar to become a legend already on the Japanese versions of the game. Why would they have to dedicate so much time and effort to importing it into the games to be released in the rest of the world?

From what ive sen sofar i can takes tonnes of positives out of it and think it looks.........amazing. I really do. The tactical element to gameplay and building up your attacks is great and will be quality online. You've just gotta put 2008 out of you mind completely and pretend it never exisited. Only then can you move on.
