Fahrenheit - aka Indigo Prophecy

I don't mind the final third but I felt that they rushed that part of the plot in the game rather than develop it. That is what annoyed me about it.

I own Farenheit, but I was unable to play it beyond a certain point as the disc (it was a second hand purchase) was well screwed. I tried to sort it out with an XPLODER Disc Repair & Lens Cleaner Kit, which worked to a point as I was able to get further into the game before the PS2 was unable to read the disc, again. It's a shame, because I was really enjoying the game up until then.

Maybe I'll look to pick up another cheap second hand copy at some stage, but I haven't saw it around all that often.

This leads me to one of my pet-peaves. Gamers who can't keep their games in good-nick! I've still got a handful of PS2 games that are flawless, as well as a handful of Playstation games that are also in mint condition. If it's not in the console, it's in the box. Simple! We all know that a console can on occasion lead to a few unwanted surface blemishes, but come on, you'd think some gamers were using their discs as a cement trowel.

Farenheit had one of the absolute best beginnings to a game, ever. It was amazing. Just thinking about it makes me want to try and buff the disc out one more time! I'll check the local game retailers later in the week, see if they can't throw me a life line and have a cheap copy (in good condition) in stock.

Spoiler warning - I'm having a problem:

I'm about to try again in a little while but I'm having problems evading the police - the scene where Lucas is about to go into his apartment block but steps back and three police officers are behind him.

I can evade them but when I jump onto the lower part of the helicopter and have to tap left and right as quickly as I can (to keep hold of the helicopter I presume), no matter how fast I tap the keys and how quickly the indicator moves up the bar, I die.

I'm not looking at the screen at this time though - perhaps I'm only meant to tap it for so long and forcing Lucas to move too far and die. Anyone remember this bit?

EDIT nearly one and a half hours later:

Right, I've managed to do it after losing a life (I've only one left which is a major issue if I end up in this sort of situation later in the game without finding more lives :faceplm:). It appears the result of some iffy coding as the game twice slows down during that phase and therefore stopped taking account of my keystrokes, causing the bar to drop to the imdway point which was causing my death.

Not a double post - its been long enough

Just finished it and I can even pinpoint the moment the story started moving way too fast and the game lost its focus. That said, a brilliant game I've thoroughly enjoyed. Incredibly short though!

Details about the story and gameplay of Heavy Rain itself remain scarce. It is known that the game is not a sequel to Fahrenheit, but a completely new game, with new story and new characters. Director David Cage noted that Heavy Rain "will be a very dark film noir thriller with mature themes", without any supernatural elements. The game will feature a story that is interactively "bendable", similar to Fahrenheit. It's been told by the creators that "the character control mechanism is an essential part in playing Heavy Rain", and is different from the system used in Fahrenheit. The player will be able to control different characters in the game[citation needed]. In a recent interview given by Quantic Dream co-CEO and executive producer Guillaume de Fondaumière to GameDaily.com, characters will be true virtual actors capable of showing highly realistic emotions.

According to a recent demonstration given to Edge Magazine, the game will use a unique control scheme.[8] A trigger button on the Playstation 3 controller will move the character forward. It will take advantage of the button being an analogue button, allowing through the amount of pressure applied to the button by the user to control the speed of the character's movement. The left analogue stick will control the movement of the character's head and the direction the character moves in relation to where the character is looking. David Cage explains that this frees the movement of the character from the perspective of the camera.

Some game physics will be made available by the use of PhysX by nVidia. It is used for console physics in general in the game.[7] Originally for the PC, there were going to be two separate versions of the game to handle cases of a computer being equipped with the appropriate physics processing unit, and to handle cases when it is not present on the system.[7] However, now that the game has been announced as a PlayStation 3 exclusive,[1] it is assumed that that won't be necessary. In the demo, the physics of the hair made use of the AGEIA technology.[7][9]

Recently in the Dutch Magazine Chief on March 11th, Executive Producer David Cage gave gamers a teaser by announcing a few details about the game. He alluded to one of the main characters being a father trying to justify his actions, noting that the game is "purely about a father's love." Cage further explained that "[t]he main story will revolve around 4 different characters, and we're putting the spotlight on their perceptions. The question 'what is good and what is evil' is the key here, that will be just a matter of viewpoint...I believe heavily in moral choices, I'm going to use them a lot. They're not about being good or bad, but about finding the right balance." On the setting, David Cage responded by saying, "I don't want to do a big free-roaming city like GTA, because the flow of the story will then be hard to control. Nevertheless, I do want to incorporate big sets, with a crowd, heavy populated areas like a mall and a subway are going to be in there. Of course, the gameplay has got to make use of that aspect too."
Sounds good, but no PC version.
