This demo is my only hope of footy at this point in time. Thankfully it won't require the use of my buggered BR drive!

Just hope it's worth it...

Well ive bought the last 3 FIFA's for PC, as i am exclusively a PC gamer, and although there has been noticeable changes and improvements, the PC area is always somewhere where EA have failed to deliver.

Ive seen the console editions of the previous couple of FIFA's and i agree, they are very good games, and its certainly arguable that its the best Football game on the market.

But on the PC platform, PES is head and shoulders on its own, purely for Konami's ability to replicate the standard of its console editions. When you play PES, be it on Xbox, PS3 or PC, they are all pretty much the same standard, crisp appearances and fluid movement.

With EA, it seems that the Xbox and PS3 versions are some exquisite piece of art, assigned all the time and effort of their team, and the PC version of the game always seems to be some slap-dash, last minute job.

This years FIFA seems to be no different. Ive heard all the rave reviews, although i'd bet that most of these originate from satisfied console gamers, and as well they should be, im sure its a joy to behold on the other platforms.

But for me, the main issue is, and always has been, the gameplay. It is still extremely unrealistic, maybe thats just me, but its far too slow, too rigid and ultimately.....unsatisfying. Some of the player animations, tricks, the goalkeeper AI, the penalties, the crowd, are spot on, i'll give that to EA this year, they have got "the little things" absolutely perfect.

But the things that matter, to me anyway, the ball physics, the pace of the game itself (or lack there of), the appearances of refs and players, the way the players move when in possession of the ball, it just doesnt do it for me, at least not on this platform.

EA said about three years ago that they didn't make enough money from the PC version of the game and would therefore not bother with a "next-gen" version of the game on our beloved platform Redmadlad. They've been doing it with some of their other sports titles too.

As a result, PC gamers don't have a decision to make because there is only one game to buy - PES.

Very true Don, its a shame really because if they put as much commitment into a PC title as they do with the consoles, there is no reason why they couldnt make a success of it. But as it is, PES will always dominate the PC market.

Personally I don't see why they bother at all tbh. They stopped making Madden for PC, they might as well put FIFA out to roost too.

Apparently with Direct X 11 it will be easier to port X360 games to PC so maybe theres light at the end of the tunnel.

I've played five games. I wasn't feeling it all during my first match. Was far too fast and my passing and shooting was far too accurate for my tastes. For my second match I changed the pace to slow and had a fiddle with the controls, changing R1 to sprint and tuning the passing and shooting to semi-assisted. It was instantly more enjoyable.

Unfortunately, two of my major gripes with FIFA are still there. The first is the camera options. All of them are poor. You're either too close or too far away, no matter what you choose. I'm aware you can fiddle with the settings, but I still couldn't find one I was happy with. PES's camera is perfect. You're close enough that you feel in control of the player, but you all have a full view of the pitch allowing you to make great cross-field balls.

Secondly, defending. It just doesn't feel dominating enough for me. On PES I get just as much pleasure from making a perfect last-ditch tackle, as I doing scoring a nice goal. I like playing as shit-house teams like Stoke with their oak tree-like defenders against the likes of Arsenal with their small nippy strikers. I love knocking them around, dominating them in the air and having to play a careful defensive game, not allowing myself to be caught up the pitch and getting caught on the break. It brings out a great tactical side that I enjoy. Give me a hard fought 1-0 against one of the top teams over a end-to-end Stoke 4 - United 3 contest any day.

I'll still be buying FIFA, but if PES 2010 is only the tiniest bit better than 09, I know which one I'll be playing for the next 12 months.

First impressions... hate the 360 movement. Feels so awkward.

2 minutes later and after switching the controls to a more familiar layout (sprint R1, contol R2) it fell into place. The stick is a must, it allows such freedom (and fuckups), but gives a huge feeling of actually being in control and that I like.

The shooting mechanic also feels more solid, less SWOS more Kick off.

I still dislike the number of menus you have to go through to make a simple squad change before/during a game (PES is much more direct), but I do like R1 option on dead balls allowing you to change the kicker on the fly. A lovely touch.

On the downside and despite all I've read about the 'weight' factor, every tackle feels a little flimsy. Skittshly light. Akin to a portugese winger in a breeze.

I think PES will have to pull something special out of the bag this season as based even on this quick taster, EA have definately pulled their socks up in the gameplay stakes. Possibly higher than Christiano's.

The thing I found annoying about tackles was about 70% of the time the opposing player would jump over you and still retain possession of the ball.

In the first ten minutes of the first game all these new animations were blowing me away i was like "this game is just amazing" but then.. it slowly began to feel like FIFA 09.

I'll shorten it down to my up's and down's of how i feel about the demo.

[Good Side]
- Animations are just superb could not see more than 3 of the old FIFA 09 animations in this demo
- Dribbling is lovely although there are a few messy situations you get yourself in that the dribbling and the response times can't handle
- Defending, not soo many clotheslines in order to get the ball from strikers now
- The 360 Movement, i must say this really does help you may not notice it at first but man.. i was using drogba and managed to get through three defenders and out muscled the fourth
- Sound, the atmosphere in the stadium is beautiful the commentators are great the ball was just being passed slowly in midfield and andy gray managed to find the time to explain about how bayern munich are the german version of liverpool or manchester united ?

[Bad Side]
- Response Times, they have improved but not alot, not enough for me anyway this can really get you frustrated when using the 360 movement aswell
- Visuals, once again improved but not much from last years game the pitch looks lovely but the kit's look abit sloppy and abit of improvement with for example frank lampards face and most of the other players, as last year the faces were soo scrunched i thought you may aswell had taken a photo of a packet empty cheese and onion walkers and used that
- Gameplay, it just felt too much like FIFA 09 it was soo hard to see but that was because the animations were pretty much covering it up to be honest.

Guys, this is just my opinion please don't read my post and feel like FIFA 10 is awful because i said so try for yourself, FIFA 10 is a fun game and fun is what gaming is all about.

And this is still the demo, there are alot of changes that could still be made before we play the full and final built.

It's more responsive but I'm not sure if that's a good thing because I find it incredibly easy even on the hardest setting.

Yeah. I find it easier than 09 for sure.

I played it last night.
First impressions were mixed because there is an improvement over 09 but sometimes it feels like it was to the worst.

Good things about the game were:
360 movement (although for me it's not 360 degree movement, but still much better than 8 movements so a big plus)
The atmosphere
I also likes the animations

Bad things.
Everything seems to be too accurate
No individuality so far. But it seemed better than in 09 for sure.
Oh and the pace is slightly faster than reality.

I think I need to play it more to fully understand it. But I think that it's better than 09 overall.

I've only played two games but am impressed with the presentation, animations and responsiveness. At the moment it feels as though it will be more fun offline than FIFA 09 but to be honest that's something which I'd only know after about 20 games. The gameplay speed isn't quite right but again, its an improvement on FIFA 09.

I'm a bit concerned that players can barge you from behind and easily take the ball irrespective of how strong your centre forward is. That's certainly my experience with Amauri holding up the ball against Terry and Carvalho.
