I'm always torn.

I've begun a game where I'm playing as four managers - AC Milan, Red Star Belgrade, Boavista (usually pick River Plate) and Italy. I wanted to play a dedicated game where I start unemployed too, but when you are in charge of so many clubs, you have to make sure you know exactly what you are doing or you quickly get a headache and stop enjoying the game.

In FM2005 I played with Milan, Red Star, River and unemployed, but I could never give the unemployed guy enough attention so when I got a job at a crap Russian second division club - Lisma - it quickly became ridiculous.

Oh and at Boavista, my best player BY A MILE is Joao Pinto. On my very first day in charge, he got a hip injury and is out for two months or more :crymore:

Usually I wouldn't start as United because it's very easy. Once you get a few good results under your belt all the measures supposed to make it harder to manage a 'big' team off the bat disappear. The board get happy, the fans are happy, and the players are all delighted. After you've won a couple of trophies you can basically just assemble a squad which can dominate the league.

Still, United have never needed a saviour more than now! Can't wait to get stuck into the new player interraction stuff too, hopefully the media part of the game will be a bit more advanced than 'manager a praises manager b' 'manager b praisies manager a' etc.... I predict the half-time team talks might get very tedious after a while if there not implimented right.

Edited... I just checked the site, you can;t download the patch from sigames.com any more due to 'exceptional traffic' but there's a list of mirrors you can get it from. I'm downloading it from Jolt at 100 kb/s

I swear... the online community for FM is huge.

So you guys are managing more than one team?

Also can you do quick starts on it? Because it takes bloody long for new games to load

I'm assuming you can use quick starts - they have the option for it. My game didn't take long to start, although I wish they'd included a table like they did in the old days, telling you how many divisions and leagues they recommend you running depending on your system processor and available RAM. I don't trust their "recommend" option.

Akineye, true it is relatively smooth once you start with a big team so long as you get some good results to set you off, but when I'm at teams like Red Star, if I've won the league once and am not top after the first game of the new season, the board are suddenly only satisfied. It is fair in that it happens in real life with Partizan and Red Star, but it can make the game difficult - which in some ways is nice, and others is annoying.

Magpie4eva, I'm managing one team. Manchester United. If FC United are on there I'll start with them, but I doubt they'll be on the game before somebody makes a patch including them.

Quick starts are there, but in the new version, it took less than a minute for me to load up my new game, on a medium database running 15 leagues.

I picked a huge database with 12 divisions in 6 leagues - Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Serbia and Spain. It took about five minutes to create the game.

Note: All leagues were set to Full (detail)

Got off to a good start with United, top of the league with a couple of games in hand and top of my Champion's League group too. I bought Recoba and Tuncay for twelve million, and got rid of Saha and Fortune in the process.

It's very similar to the last game really, just a bit more in-depth. I like the options you get when a player is injured (cortisone injections, refer to specialists... etc) it's a nice touch. I also like the added match reports and feedback on player's performances (although some of them are totally contradictory). The half-time team talks are good too, but I'm yet to really see how they make much of a difference, and my players seem to be incredible pussies who can't take any criticism. Basically my whole starting XI apart from Keane, van der Sar, Rio, Gary Neville and van Nistelrooy thought I was 'too hard' on the team after I got angry because they were trailing to West Brom at half-time.

Also disappointing is how average Chewsea are in the game. I'm relieved they aren't all conquering, winning every match, never conceeding a goal Chewsea, but they've drawn more matches than they've won this season.

Think I mentioned this before, but in the demo I told my players I was disappointed at half-time (or was it full-time?) because we were either trailing to a team we shouldn't be, or had drawn against a team we should've beaten and Gilardino suddenly felt like he'd made a mistake moving to the club and was considering leaving - wtf?!

Haven't played much of the game yet as I've been rather busy, but I will hopefully get around to it soon.

Moutinho from Sporting Lisbon is amazing, will set you back about 10 million though. Muntari (Master League Legend) is a good young player. Van Der Borre is a quality young defender too! If you are in a struggling Premiership side get Messi on loan, hes quality. I've found loads more great young players so if you need more just ask. :)

I bought Messi for £8 million and he's doing fantastically for my United side. I'm regretting buying so many attacking midfielders though, I have well and truly solved United's problem of creativity in the middle of the park, but I've got Messi, Scholes, Rooney, Tuncay, Richardson, Recoba, Paark Ji-Sung, Alan Smith and Fletcher who can all play in the central midfield role. I think I'll have to get rid of some of the more useless squad members when the transfer window opens.

The 'preferred moves' screen is a great little add-on.

I need a replacement for Keano. I've narrowed it down to either Papa Bouba Diop or Muntari. Neither are particularly glamorous, I just need a midfielder with great tackling who can pick a simple ball. Marchena would probably do that job well too.

Buy Victor Moses from the Crystal Palace academy, he's 14/15/16 I think, but he's the next big thing, mark my words!

Now lets see if Yossi agrees...;)

My first job at Milan - I'm going to sit down and play shortly - is to buy a young central defender. Problem is, I want Messi too as I'm going to be victimising Seedorf.

EDIT: And I only get about £10m. I tried to get Messi in the demo and he said he wasn't interested. The little arse. He had a great game for Barcelona last night.

You should be able to sign Messi for less than £10 million. He came to United and really works well just off the front two. The trouble is, I have Recoba, Rooney, Scholes, Park and Tuncay all competing for the same spot.

Tuncay is a great buy at the start of the game, you have to be quick, but you can get him for under £5 million if you're lucky. He's one of those players whose value doubles as soon as he moves clubs.

im managing wolves, couple of good youngsters in chris cornes and mark davies (looks good in real life too), bit disappointed with lescott, though he is touted as the next sol campbell by the game, lee naylors form is ubearabley unrealisitc he has an average rating after 20 games of 8.44.

i hate the damn game, too realistic if your a wolves fan, i am suprised the Carl Cort is out for 7 months at the start of the game because he wasnt.

my best signing is Rawez Lawan, many freaks on this game.

have 1 question though how long does it take a player to get his stats back to normal after injury?

when i started the game carl cort looked a damn good target man but no his stats all over have lowered by 3-5 points, he currently has 3 months to return so, when hes back hes gonna have 1's

Diao

The People's Champ
In FM2005 Ronaldo (Brazil) was ruled out for 8 months value went from 20.5 million to 7 million
