Dribbling past people comes with practice.

Don't make the mistake of so many PES fans when trying FIFA who think just because they're unable to dribble past a player the first few times, it automatically means it can't ever happen.

LOL.

Very true.

Watching the video above, it seems that dribbling is still ridiculously easy. You can hang on to the ball for ages if you wanted. This needs to be rectified. A good balance would be to have a cross between FIFA 09 and PES 09.

I cant see where your coming from. Ok in that gameplay vid your watching 2 people who arguably are not very good at the game playing as Germany who are always slow and terrible in Pes and France who have about 3 good players and playing a 70-75% build. Your not gonna get the most epic match in the World. The 2010 improvements are there to be seen by all. I must admit watching that vid the game doesnt look all that but i have seen some really good players and their matches look amazing. There is one i remember where they just kept counter attacking eachother and they were very skilled players and it reflected the decent gameplay contrast to that France Germany game where they've never heard of the term attack.

The game imo has been an epic let down for the past 2 years no doubt with me selling each 08 and 09 after 2 months tops. But in 2010 you can see the flame from pes 6, the shooting from pes 5 and in general the fun quick, sharpe gameplay we all love. There's hardly been a preview that has slated in any way and with Adam's recent message on WENB stating that several of his Fifa fanboy mates were loving Pes 2010 there's so much to look forward to.

I read a lot of what Adam said on WENB last year and I vowed never to again after playing PES 2009, he claimed it was a very good game and it was an improvement on 08, it was neither of those things. I wish I still loved PES as much as you do mate but sadly I realised that Konami seem to be taking the piss and put as little effort in as possible when making a 'new' (and I use that term loosely) version of PES.

Fifa demo feels great, but dribbing past players is too hard, i know not every player can dribble past players is easy but players like Messi, Torres, do go round players with easy in real life but in Fifa their dribbling is same as someone like John Terry.

If you keep the run modifier pressed down it gives you closer control, and with a few flicks of the right analogue stick you can make a defender look stupid. Try the odd one-two to get around a full back too. The more you play it the more you'll learn.

Where are these new animations? That surely can't be PES 2010, it looks completely identical to 2009. It's such a shame that PES has become so inferior to FIFA, back in the days of PES 4 I never thought I'd see the day.

Konami got lazy and now EA are miles ahead of them.

Both games are going to be good this year. And no pes 10 doesn't look like 09. It's looking already better. But I need to play it first.

Baddar. I know it comes with practice, but I just never see Messi loosing the ball so often when dribbling. It just doesn't happen in reality. Although the dribbling is bette rthan in fifa 09, it's still not realistic enough as there's no individuality especially in dribbling. Speed is the only factor in dribbling. Technique does not exist in fifa's dribbling. ONLY SPEED.
But overall both fifa and pes are looking better than the 09 versions.

I agree with this 100%, Fifa only change the speed, they lack responsive close ball controll. Pes at least still has sharpness in turns, Fifa still feels slow in dribble turning.

If you know how to play the game Shaun then technique DOES exist. There are far too many die-hard PES fans who think it's a crime to appreciate another football game.

Truth is both FIFA and PES fail in the dribbling department. They are both unrealistic.

EDIT: Although FIFA's seems more rewarding, solely because it is challenging.

ads, I play it world class. So you can't say I do not know how to play the game. I am sorry but not admitting a fault in a game is pretty biased.
And I was talking about dribble technique not technique as a whole.
For example, Amauri can dribble in reality, but he isn't as fast as messi and in the game, you cannot dribble with him. Why? Because he is not fast and because you cannot beat defenders with dribble technique. On mostly speed is the factor and in reality, technique exists. LOOK at zidane. Slow but had technique, and he did beat defenders unlike in fifa.

I had 09 and played it for a year solid but there just isnt that x factor that takes it to the level pes was at on ps2. Its good but unless your playing online or with a friend the game gets boring fast.

u don't nedd spedd to go with dribble acc to go past plyaers as long as you have balance in the player.balance is by far the most important stat in a player.without it almost all the other stats mean nothing.u can get away with low balance if the plaer has speed.but that's it really.

Well in that case all I can suggest is that World Class is maybe too high a level for you? It is possible to take on players and be able to dribble at different speeds if you know what you're doing, I don't know what else I can say. I'm certainly not biased, if it wasn't possible to take players on I'd dislike it too, but I can do it, which leads me to believe you're playing above your ability on World Class if you can't do it.

You seem quite self assured that FIFA 10 is superior and are happy to judge PES 2010 on a 70-75% build, which had many of the 300 new animations yet to add in.

I agree that Konami did get complacent and so far all current-gen PES have been a let down by Konami's own high standards. But this really does seem the year where Konami have raised their game.

Finally giving the Master League a massive overhaul, implementing much needed animations to create that natural movement, alongside the 360 degree control. Visually they have raised the bar higher, with astounding player likenesses. They have slowed the game down from PES 2009 and added the tactics sliders and card system. Manual keepers are back, licences for Champions League and Europa are made full use of in ML and BAL. All this in a year and your still telling us that Konami are lazy?

To me it looks like they have listened, and have delivered most of the fans wanted list. The promise of a decent online mode, with community leagues and cups, Competitions, Legends, and online Champions League should also finally deliver this year too, as they have in many other areas.

The true judgement will come when both final retail versions are reviewed. If PES is slated I will accept the criticism aimed at it and if FIFA is deemed the better game so be it! For now I am optimistic that this can be a great year for PES. FIFA has improved to so hopefully both sets of fans should be happy with the results!

I do agree with you, Eclipse.

As good as I think FIFA's gonna be this year, it's hard to say "it's better than PES because..." seeing as we haven't played PES yet, whether it be the demo or full game.

I'll never understand how people can make up their minds on a game, especially a football game, just by watching a gameplay video. You have to play it to really know what its like. I always thought that in the years when PES dominated FIFA looked like the better game but played like an absolute fucking swine (with flu). I don't think its even worth making your mind up based on a demo, I reckon the only way is to rent both and give each game a fair crack of the whip that way.

I've found that its easier to skin people on FIFA with crap players than with your Ronaldos and Messis. Its so much fun to absolutely dick on someone with a PNE player when they're playing with Barca.

I stand by my claims that Konami are lazy, let's be honest, we all came to this site because we love/loved PES. I played Konami's football games for the last 10 years, and on the PS2 PES was untouchable by quite a distance. Then came the 'next gen' consoles and PES got shit, I still stuck with it as it was better than FIFA. Last year PES 2009 was a shambles, the gameplay was horrid and on seeing videos (which is where you PES fans are basing your opinions also) the gameplay looks diabolical again. FIFA improved with 09 and having played the demo several times (not a 100% build either I might add) it's streets ahead of PES 2009, and it pains me to say it. And by the looks of things 2010 plays the same way.

I'm not a FIFA 'fan boy', I'm a long term PES fan who is sick to the back teeth of Konami's half-arsed attempts at a current gen football title and someone who can happily give it up and play what is in my honest opinion a much more entertaining game and by producers who listen to their fans and implement popular requested changes into their updates.

Just look at this...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbFhAVzT_rA
The goal by Henry is cringeworthy, there's no contact with the ball, the cross looks incredibly unrealistic and the effort from Reina is non-existent. And as for Henry's 'celebration'...

I'd love to rave about PES 2010 and be excited about it, but I can't be because of the sheer lack of progress Konami have made over the last 3-4 years.
